If they release Heroes 3 with bugs fixed, more neutral creatures and modding reasonable support, I buy it in the second.

They had their chance with Heroes 3 HD but failed miserably, lol.

IMHO visually h4 was the way, with today's resolutions I can't even imagine how gorgeous it would look, then more time allowed in development for more content, keep classic mechanics and add maybe 20% max innovation, decent testing to avoid bugfest at launch, and the series would shine again.
And yes, friendly modding support as a must-have.
Really is not hard, they are so lost they think it has to be rpg-like with heavy graphics but no bugdet, lol...

Heroes HD was clearly a cash grab, without any interest for the die hard fans. But even if AB and SoD were included in HD edition, I don't see how it would have been relevant and an interesting game to buy, as only washed and filtered graphics are not enough. Even those who publicly critic Heroes 3 are not criticizing it for its graphics, graphics were never the problem.
More content, FIX BUGS, and modding support so skilled fans can put it under continuous perfusion and make it last forever.

Why revert back to old-style graphics? This is like going 1 step forward and 3 steps back.
They should just allocate the correct budget to their projects and make sure they have enough money, people and - above all - experience in order to make a functional, good modern game. I do not understand why the AoW or Eternal Legend developers can do it and it is not possible for Heroes. All those games are 3D and all of them look gorgeous (including H6/H7)- the only difference that the Ubisoft titles are in comparison: a) full of bugs, b) technically not optimized and c) lacking in gameplay due to budget constraints (H6 campaigns anyone?)

I didn't say it has to be old style, only said what I, personally, would buy.
I have an aversion for those confusing 3D graphics and that's hard to cure without good pills. I don't even think it is the 3D which is to blame, but the design style and the artistic approach clearly changed. Now you have 30 types of mountains within various elevations, 45 types of trees, all bigger than the hero, 150 types of water, and all this mostly because people can rotate around then admire graphics as close as their nose, so it has to follow. This excessive variation and focus on unnecessary parameters for the game play is what I dislike. They both drain the concentration and disrupt, while in battle, the perfect self control one should have.

@Salamandre: Hehe, I see where you are coming from. It is really amazing however how far away from each other opinions about the very same thing can be. Exactly the things that bother you (variation, "unnecessary" environment details) are for me the most important asset for the game and absolutely necessary for immersion/story/depth purposes. A game with simplistic graphics would be a definite no-go for me.

Late's better than never
And yes I know it's too late for it and that it reflects many things, Ubisoft's approach etc.
But I am glad it is done. I hate when things are left unifinished.

Obviously, so does BSoft: H7 is like a soft pillow firmly pressed on the face of HoMM; they're finishing it, alright!
And the Limbicwarriors did a great job, I can finally admit it.

My favorite one out of all HOMM games hands down. Since it was revealed right before the release of Trial by Fire my new desktop image
Actually I think they did an amazing job with the town screens in H7. At least they got something right.
