as much work as verriker puts in trashing(and righteously so) h7, he could be putting productive modding work in for h3.

@Maurice: I am totally fine with letting people like or dislike the game.
Unfortunately, as Google Corporation found out some of the problems might not originate from bad coding from any developers for rather games or productivity and utility applications of all kinds.
Google Corp. clearly states that it is an extremely flawed O.S. made by Microsoft Corp.(Any Windows Edition). RAM leaks, bad device drivers implementations and, very poor storage use + management of rather SSD, Reg. HDD and USB permanent memory sticks. Even the stability of any Microsoft O.S. is very poor at best.
Therefore, might not have been the fault of games or productivity apps, ever. Have you heard of an Apple O.S. user that has any of the above mentioned problems, lately? I surely did not. Because, there are none to report, so far. Apple finds a problem, it is fixed in matters of a mere few days, only.
Why do you think that most old Corporations throughout the U.S.A. are on the Oracle O.S. called Solaris? Simple, it is thoroughly reliable and flaws free. But, not built for home use or small business use either(major bummer here).
I say that the Direct X thing should have been axed a long time ago and, bring back the good ole' app. use of the full capabilities of the current and not so current Graphics/Video processing of the graphics and video files. Better device drivers would then, bring back the full confidence of its user at knowing that their current games and near future games will be performing at their proper best.
The makers of such expansion cards still believe in such a situation because of the lack of graphics/video chips on much older computers that still uses a single or dual-core CPU. Smart TVs will entice that approach much more greater than ever before. Making Direct X a complete waste to have around.

Win 7 is stable. Vulnerable, but stable.

Most corporations that I know use Red Hat Linux. Solaris is rare, as Red Hat and its freeware version CentOS are much more accessible. I prefer Red Hat over Solaris any day.
The prime reason to use Red Hat over Windows is that Red Hat does what it is supposed to do without too much extra junk, while Windows adds all sorts of bells and whistles. As you indicate, those cost stability and performance.
