Actually it's disciple (creature).

Would've been better without the shoulderpads.

Yes of course, that explains why their wearers are so afraid to show their faces.

Djinns live in lamps. Wizards fly carpets. I think it's good that way.
But now I wonder if it'd look better without those shoulderpads as Aviro said.

The fact that Disciples on flying carpets was known in August.

Oh.. well truth be told i missed it. But I must say I like it. Ilike it a lot. This could be my 2nd favorite Mage designe after the H2 white wizzard styled archmage.

I'm liking these screenshots, but *snicker* what the heck is up with this statue?
I mean, it is so painfully obvious that is it the Cuirassier's rearing pose with a texture change to stone. That wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the helmet's plumage (or whatever that stuff is called). Look at it! There's no way that those chunks of stone at the end would be held up by such spindly little pieces! XD

Well it's a Work in Progress so it'll probably be changed eventually. Probably.
Obligatory cheap edit of my homie because I had Photoshop up and running:

Atleast the mages look like actual battlemages and not like some old farts in rags that can be taken out if something farts in their general direction. But if they have the knowledge to make flying carpets why not make, I dunno, flying pants? Levitating mages would seem more badass.

Lack of comfort? Perpetual levitation? Control issues? Rug format integral to the levitation process? The devs thought it would be silly? There's plenty of explanations that could be given for why it's carpets and not magic pants.

Knowing academy it's probably a bound spirit in that carpet and they didn't feel comfortable/felt too comfortable with spirits bound to their crotch area.

I disagree. Having Mage on a flying carpet is a nice change to the unit, and makes him fit better to Academy's desert environment.
I'm a huge fan of Wizard/Tower and in my book this makes +1 to Academy.

What annoys me of that screenshots is that they only show the scenery, beautiful graphics & landscapes, but when it comes to gameplay? In H6 nothing, I hope in H7 they don't limit themselves to that

Perhaps, but if their range isn't particularly short, there's not much point in them being flying. I mean, yeah, you can get them more easily out of being surrounded, but if that happens often, you might wonder if you're not doing something wrong.

How much were Succubus in H6 affected by the fact that they were the only Inferno flying unit.

I hope they have a good spellbook to work with. I prefer them to stay that way, without ranged attack.

I think teleporting/flying unit is basically the same. The only difference in Heroes VI was that flyers were affected by one spell, by which teleprting units were not affected.
