And about the Heroes III and it's influence discussion. It's perfectly clear for me that there won't be a sequel that will beat that game. There's to much of a nostalgia and "some other things" impact there. But for me a Heroes game, whoever will make it and however it will be made, should have only one simple thing: be memorable. And that means for it to have a lot of replayability and at least some things that will make me care about the world, characters or factions. Heroes V & VI, whichever: good or bad can be said about them, won't make me go back to play them. It's sad but true. And I installed/unnistalled H3 & H4 at least half a dozen times each...

True, true. Imagine my reaction when I launched Watch Dogs on my PS3 only to find that, so many months after it's release, an unfixed bug still exists that prevents you from starting the game if you install a patch right before your first start-up. While I managed to deal with it, it's the first time ever I've seen a bug of this type on my PS3 (Ok, Syrim was quite buggy, but at least it was playable from the start). Unfortunately Ubisoft has kept, through all those years, my opinion about them: that their games were always buggy and made installation/launching/gameplay problems (I can't count all those times my PC crashed because of their games back in the day). Truth is, I will never trust them wholly...

War-overlord said: Let's face it. There are those to whom Heroes III is the best thing that happened to the world since the coming of Christ.
And it is those kinds of people, who are of the opinion that nothing good has happened to the franchise since 1999.
I personally wonder what these kinds of people expect to achieve when they come to the Heroes VII forum and spew their bile.
Kindly direct me to the so-called "bile" on this forum.
This thread is a verry good example of bile spewing.
And This thread isn't doing much more than rehashing the same complaints we've heard every so often either.

I have a feeling that gaming industry will soon face a crash even bigger than one in 1983, if the attitude of the "big boys" doesn't change. Nevertheless, I hope that Heroes VII will turn out to be a good game. For sure one improvement is visible over previous iteration - we know much more about the game before it than in case of Heroes VI and communication with fandom feels better.

War-Overlord, I don't understand why you didn't confront thread starter directly at the time you noticed him. Most people who love Heroes III are looking forward to each new sequel.

I highly doubt that would have changed anything. And at the time, I thought the general atmosphere of negativity would bleed out in a short ammount of time.
Besides, I did offer my displeasure on the 2d-thread.

I favor neither.
Though I agree with the advocates of 3D that 2D is somewhat of a lost cause, for I suspect that not being 3D might potentially scare off more casual buyers and possibly fans that joined since HV.

You didn't have to, it doesn't change the meaning of my answer. What happened to the franchise I once loved is rather how I see these threads, how unpleasantly started they might have been.

Which goes to show that constructive criticism is more interesting than bile. Even if I do not agree with the post.
As far as grief is concerned, while anger should be a normal part of the grieving process, to be stuck in that stage is, shall we say, unhealthy.

Well obviously, but I want to hope someday the franchise will change the path it has taken since Ubisoft rebooted it. You can't blame someone for not being constructive, you can only show him the way to do better the best you can. By that, you still have a better chance to reach his reason than by being provocative towards him or, as you do to deplore his acts, which surely won't change a thing.

As someone has pointed it to me, here is a quote from HoMM7 artist blog:
Quote: New pics coming soon from Heroes of Might and Magic (A whole new clan) [faction - Avonu]
We should have new information about next faction soon(TM), as Ubisoft always publishes concept arts before H7 graphic artits can do it on their sites.
I also wonder, when we will have a conclusion for 10 Years War? I really don't like that it was stopped in the middle of story. If you said A, B, C and D you should said also X, Y and Z.

Yes, I can blame unconstructive attitude and I will. Though, I need to state this clearly, my comments on the atmosphere were never intended towards anyone in particular. And the threads I pointed towards, even though they are both started by the same person, that person is certainly not solely to blame for the atmosphere.
I blame unconstructiveness for this reason. I firmly believe that a person has only 3 justifiable ways of dealing with a situation that isn't satisfactory. Those ways are : Voice, Exit and Loyalty.
Voice consists of making your dissatisfaction heard and then going out of your way to change the thing that dissastisfies you for the better.
Exit consists of leaving that which dissatisfies you and perhaps going to the competitor.
Loyalty consists of stoically enduring your dissatisfaction in the belief that things will change for the better.
Spewing bile and only spewing bile is a hypocritical way of doing neither of those 3. For the spewer does follow through in his Voice, for he does not try to change things for the better, only saying things are dissatisfactory. He cannot be bothered to leave, for he does not Exit, thus "voting with his feet", but sticks around. And Loyalty he expresses least of all, for he is very vocal in his belief that things will get worse and is unwilling to endure such.
As for showing him better, Am I not doing so here? Am I not now, my hope for the atmposhere to better on itself on its own accord lost, building up a, even in the slightest, more constructive attitude?
Or would you rather I single out every poster that I find offending, give them a slap on the wrist and tell them to beter their lives? Pestering people individually will get me laughed at at best, or penalized at worst.
