This is worrisome. I'm reading the comments on the blog and people share the same view too. This whole toxic green + teenage girls in pyramids fails really hard. It might make sense in lore, but the feel is not the same as it used to be. Either the devs go for a more haunted horror feel, crypts and graveyards, misty woods under the moonlight, skeletal heroes and hideous apparitions, or there will be rage just like I said.
Bad news is that Necro might be set in stone as it is at this point, so even if they hear our complaints, I doubt there will be significant change.

This really hurts, man
Does that mean that green hell with twilight sparkling teenager vampires is confirmed?

What I can tell you is that the returning creatures will be mostly the same as in H6, as far as the 3D models are concerned. The colours and textures, however, have been significantly reworked.
All in all I think the H7 Necro is a good balance between the Ashan-specific units and the "classic" Necropolis. But it's probably the faction with the least changes. The additions are great, though.

Dread Knight better be one of them.
I hope you won't reuse 3D-models for the other factions too. That's boring and lazy.

Here goes all my hope
But it's ubi really keeping you on such a tight budget that you can't make new 3d models?

You are saying it as if that were a bad thing...
Anyways, how old is the spider cult at this point? We could argue that the earliest necromancers were less then competent in their enbalming knowledge and ended up skeletal in their rush for immortality.
Practically speaking, a couple years of decaying in places of varying humidity can result in completely different sceletons.
Buried in the earth? Zobie-like with guts hanging out.
In a crypt? Mummified it is!
Sunk with a ship to bottom of lake? Full skeltal is perfect 'cos the rest is fish food by now.
No need to get written into a corner if its perfectly sensible to have alternatives.

Well I know it'll be hard for you guys to believe this, but outside of the hardcore fan forums, the fan feedback regarding the art direction of the H6 Necropolis was actually super positive overall.
Even I was a bit surprised. (I too prefer the Hammer-inspired Necropolis with Bela Lugosi, "blah!"-blurting vampires and decrepit mummies.)

I'm pretty sure this fan feedback would have been even more positive if art direction closer to previous opuses had been presented and preserved.

The only problem was with the Vampire really, too much warcraft. And I mean WAAAY too much.
The Lich I can live with somehow, it's just the whole namtaru wenom and the reverse ageing is whats bothering me.

No one would care about that if they looked more horror, Chris, only lore people. Visual aspect and atmosphere are crucial for the Heroes feel.

We have two more repeating factions - Dungeon and Stronghold. Do not expect wonders in these ones. Besides, the same 3D model applies just to the mostly movement of a creature. Its looks will still differ.

Actually the H7 Stronghold has almost nothing in common with its H6 counterpart. It is also totally awesome.
But I won't say anything more about that particular topic
