yeah, i'm aware, problem is that they're not pedipalps. since they're lacking joints and are clearly hardened it appears to be more like fangs or spikes or mandibles or something which is just stupid. even more infuriating considering the namtaru had pedipalps, so what happened?

in all honesty, other that the weird spikes on the skeleton, there isn't much else to complain about so you can be damn sure i'll complain about this. show me the pedipalps moving on the "death tick" without looking like mandibles or fangs and i'll be fine. but as of now? no pedipalps and extra pair of fangs. that ain't a spider.
Aw come on it isn't just a spider,it is a monstrous spider,that seems to be blessed by the nightmares of a dragon god,that seem to be slowly transforming into half-spider-half-human-hybrids.
You really expect them to just look like regular spiders,but in big?

There is only one valid complaint against the Necro Spiders, arachnophobia.
I'm only half joking.
Originality? Please... Why isn't anyone complaining about how unoriginal and overused Skeletons, Zombies, Mummies, Ghosts, Vampires, Liches, Death Knights, Reapers, etc. are? Good luck making a point on that, lol.
Spiders are associated with death everywhere. It's not "unoriginal" that they got included in Necro, it's just consistent. And we had it coming for a long time given the idea of "Spider" Cult, the Necro spiders in DoC, Fate Weaver in H6... It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Is it me or does that ghost have a beard?
Overall I like the necro core pretty much, though I agree that the spiders pedipalps should be a bit more pronounced and the skellie should definitely lose those ugly spikes.

Those are there for balance issues duh. Their sole purpose, is for enemy to grab'em and have superior grip on skeletal warriror ... oh I mean skeletal hoplite .... that forgot to bring spear with him ... brain tends to rot if you die, I guess...
Well now you know why they died! It was because of their disfunctional armor and lack of spears, but still behaving like hoplites and therefore forming "spear wall" using, what can only be arguably shotel (yea look for this on google or indeed in Necropolis thread for my last post) instead.
They were fail as living hoplites. Now they are skeletal holplites. And they got immortality on their side ... as long as they have willing Lich to spam healz covering their backs ...
forgive me I'm drunk....
EDIT: oh and spiders .... Necros like spiders, specialy the crispy ones. It's a win-win. Have giant spiders fight for you. Watch enemy do the killing. Collect corpses. Have a nice BBQ

They've already complained for two pages how snowing unrealistic it is because of some freaking pedipapls.
Btw, those legs look to me like they're made of crystal-wood. And it has razor sharp claws, so it's not that bland.

I mean, we are talking about Necropolis, Necromancers etc. They can create a lot of things with their Necromantic magic. After all, we had "Bone" Spider as Catapult in Heroes 6 for Necropolis faction...
I am actually really really surprised how many people like Giant Spider for a core unit in Necropolis town, while at the same time they despise Necropolis as Spider-cult town, with a lot of Spider marks on their armor, helms and weapons...

Indeed. Realism is the basis and should remain the basis of unit concepts. Spiders made of bones are not realistic, ok! They do not exist. Ubi is just making things up ... instead we could have a perfectly realistic Zombie in it's place ... or Ghoul.... you know ... things that ... actualy exist.
Now im perfectly fine with ghosts. Even if we know real ghosts don't glow blue-ish, but rather more purple-ish ... Now spiders, the size of my car are one thing, even tho that are irl annoying to deal with. But giant spiders made of bones is just silly. I mean c'mon, put some realism into it.

That's damn stupid. Spiders with bones don't exist, yeah, but so what? The point is that they can make anything out of bones, any kind of construct they see fit. So yeah, even bones assembled to resemble a spider.
Certainly would be cooler than this warcraft wannabe.

It's not so much that people like the Spider. It's OK at best.
It's rather the fact that when Ubi tries to "innovate" they come up with the most ridiculous ideas such as the Root Snakes an Earth Spirit "Troglodytes".
The unholy trio of Glory, Maniac, Tormentor in H6(my personal favourites) showed exactly what happens if Ubi is left to adding creatures.
They set the bar very low and frakly I am glad that we get mundane creatures like wolves and spiders.

I just came up to a conclusion that developers are in a tragic position. There is a new unit - it is wrong, there is an old unit - it is also wrong, there may be Bone Dragons - wrong, there may be not Bone Dragons - wrong,there is too much purple - wrong, there is no green - wrong, etc... Embracing all views is impossible, thus we should be thankful that they at least struggle to do it.

Why not? They're bestial enough and " infernal " enough as well. Infero is supposed to have monstrosities, not humans in red glow and red armor.
They definitelly looked better than generic juggernauts, which was yet another demon with horns and hoofs.

What kind of kindergarten did you go to?
One where I could draw spikes on everything. And also wheels, and gunbarrels, and eyesand tails and whatever I felt like.
But if I were to design a necro unit then it wouldn't be an eighteenwheeler with gunturrets for arms and other such BS.
