If I might add, I tried in vain to replicate Haven's designs on HVI through texture modding, because they didn't just change the texture, they also changed the mesh.
The point I'm trying to make is that in Haven they changed more than the color, they also made the model look fresh at a first glance (Without taking into account the animations, but to be honest I kind of liked the animations in HVI).
Now, looking at Necropolis' elite tier you see immediately that they are the same model, just with some minor color change, for crying out loud it is the same elite tier as in HVI, and that's in my opinion the real problem, they didn't even bother to tweak the models apart from the slight color change.
Regarding the town, the problem with that is that it screams "WE LOVE SPIDERS TO DEATH".
If the spider imagery wasn't so overused in the town I would have appreciated those spider legs, but considering the context of the town instead of seeing them as an impressive component, I see them as a forced design choice...

I believe War-Overlord doesn't support all the flaming and ranting. He's being very constructive and informative most of the time. I still didn't understand whether he likes Ashan or not, but if he does, he is most definitely one of the few in favor of this universe from whom I have respect.

im not joking guys, i think i lost my interest in h7.
Oh, i never said that it looks ultragothic, i just said it mixed the gothic and mesopotamian cultist aesthetics pretty nicely (and definitely better than H6)

Care to elaborate?
Other than the Vampire, which does look too much like the warcraft Death Knight hero, post H6 Ashan aesthetics are completely different, just starting at the body proportions used for the characters (ultra muscular men vs Ashan more realistic bodies)
Just for example, the latest argument: Heroes now ripped off Warcraft because it has undead+spiders. Yes, WC3 had spider-people and the Nerubian architecture did influence the Undead building aesthethic back in WC3 (in WoW the undead building style became more "Mordor") specially in the Necropolis and Ziggurath buildings. But thats where the resemblances end. The necropolis is an stepped building but it doesnt look like the Ashan zigurats, the zigurats even less. And the WC spider people are raised cannon fodder from a fallen kingdom, while the Namtarus are avatars of a Goddess, not to mention that they actually look like humans

Thank you very much.
As for you question, I do not like Ashan, but I do not dislike it either. But as a historian and lorehound I am gifted/cursed with a desire to know about history, fictional or non-fictional. Just like my desire to know more about American History does not stem from any particular liking of the USA or my desire to know more about German History does not stem from any particular liking of Germany.

Well good for you.
Ashan has the most basic, easy to understand and overused lore of all games i've ever played.
Take elements + dragons = Ashan.
Tada, you learned all there is to learn. :-)

Not a problem, I am not as blinded by what is happening to the franchise ever since Ashan was introduced as some may think.
I thank you for your answer, I admit I was curious on that matter.

You aren't being constructive, you complain all the time about complainers, yet you act exactly like the ones you hate. You are using one-liners, rude comments, request unnecessary bans, insult people who don't share your opinion, call them useless, also you defend things without bringing arguments against people who do exactly like you then say they are hateful. Also I called you female version of Jeremiah_Emo because you requested repeatedly female version of units (liches and vampires to be more exact) and you can't take humor, cheer up, I don't do that to attack you, just to underline some traits and determine you to correct them

Regarding Ashan necropolis and the Undead Scourge well, they are two different things. Genya is right, nerubians were just cannon fodder. In expansion they added a "Nerubian Hero" that looked more like beetle than arachnid, and in Wow, and especially in WoTLK taht continues the undead related storylines. The main base of undead, the Icecrown citadel has nothing to to with egypto-mesopotamian look or spider (besides some mobs in it) neither have the Forsaken (horde aligned undead) who actually use the Gothic look.
Did they maybe copy the gothic look from H3 and H5 necropolis?
So what is similar, both WC3 and Ashan necros use the egypto-mesopotamian style archidecture.
There are two almost classic approaches to undead factions or themes. The gothic one and the egyptian/mesopotamian one. usually one or the other is chosen, some use both. An example of the other would be the warhammer fantasy where you have the Vampire Counts (gothic) and the Tomb Kings ("ancient architecture") factions.
Already H5 had "mesopotamian" elements, most if not all the necro town names were Akkadian or or based on it.
A important thing to remember is that during H6 and H7 necros have their own culture and lands, during H5 they are a hidden cult/group among "Haven and Academy lands" The gothic look is because they use ruins, graveyards and "corrupted towns" as their bases.
If there is one nice thing that Ubi has attempted, then its attempting to explain how Necropolis and Heresh can exist as a separate and openly acting lands and a faction. The friggin Deyja was a plot hole in H3. How can a kingdom that "harvests" its neighbor's populaton exist several hundread years? (The Ashan zombies and skeletons are animated remains, The Enrothian ones actually have their original soul trapped in them) I know Erathia and Avlee had occasional issues, but in such case an alliance of them would probably have destroyed it long ago.

How can they stop a juggernaut whose armies only grow after each battle? That is a plot hole in Ashan
