Also I have no idea what was story behind H1, H2, H3, H4... That's how good it was. It dosen't even meet enough standards for me to care.
And then comes Ashan with promises of wonder and inovative approach to story ... and I still don't care ... In fact, I regret reading some lore, coz it actualy made me like this universe less. I always taught Vampires were Vampires, and Medusas were Medusas in my ignorance. Now that I heard about some of the lore, some of that ignorance is gone. And I know about Vampire's reverse aging and poison drinking etc.
And worst part? I can't un-read it
Let me put it this way. In NWC times, lore was something that put some extra spice to game for those that care enough to read it/listen to it.
In Ubisoft times, lore is something that actualy makes things worse if you dare to read it. Ignorance is a bliss when it comes to Ashan lore, I say.
My advice to make game better for yourself? Just play the game, skip as many cuscenes as possible in campaign (pray to your own personal diety or your country's great leader, that they will be skippable), and fill in the story with your own immagination. And game will be great. Well ok, you may watch campaign story, just don't, under penatly of losing your sanity, read the in-game unit descriptions. You are actualy hurting your own gaming experience in doing so
The worst thing about this advice is tho, that most people here can't help themselves with it, as they already red the lore. And my deepest condolences to you all. I share your grief
Now I know, I'll be probably attacked by the people who actualy like Ashan's lore, and will take this post too seriously. But that's OK. I suspect those will be in the minority, and I am willing to bear this burden for the greater good
(No seriously if you like it, more power to you, as you are effectively immune to it's negative influences)

to tell you the truth ... H4 was a game i never got to play much
Idk. For me heroes story was all about the mini stories I made myself when leveling heroes or doing H3 scenario maps - Vikings we shall go!, the dead and the birrued.
Also that post was a bit of rant ... and was not focused much on campaign stories but to lore in general. Story can be good, but lore behind some creatures is just silly.
Idk. I don't get much into campaign, but usualy play bunch of random maps. That said, I will probably still try campaign when H7 comes (again), and give up on it 4-5 missions in (again).
But that's just me. I am kinda person who don't pay much atention to most of PC game stories, but most of the time skips cutsceens just to advance...
When i read books or watch movies, I pay atention to story. When I play games I wanna play me some games

That only works on some games. Telltale games don't even have that.

I don't play adventure games.
Ok sometimes I do pay atention to story ... but that is rare. Usualy most of my needs are satisfied when game has primitive story. Like. Dracula is alive (somehow). You are a good guy. Kill'em Or. That dude kidnaped your lady princes Peach. Go get'em.
Other times it's just too much. I will give H7 story a go, but I belive I will probably give up way before I finish campaign.
This is why I didn't like Dynasty weapons in H6 btw. Not because of internet connection or anything like that. But because you needed to do Campaign to unlock them. And I never did finish campaign, so I was always weaponless.

@Limbic-Jaelle,
If you are kind, could you please tell us which one from this photo is you?
Also I would like to know more about your work and why you joined the community. Are you some sort of community dev like Ubi-Nox? Or more like Marzhin that decided to join out of his own will?

Hey fellas,
Hey Stevie,
glad to see that posting, just joined the thread.
I am not on the picture, I just joined limbic on January. Maybe I'll post a picture later. I'll see.
My function is more about communication between Ubisoft, Limbic and the VIP's but I'm kind of an observer of the community. Just want to get an idea about what you're talking all day. Which is a lot. *grin*
So it's more on my own will then a duty.
Cheers,
Nicole

Cool! I hope you'll get to like it here. You could always just be casual and participate in the conversations, rather than be all formal under the observer role
We also want to know what the devs think, especially when they have divergent opinions

yeah, I know that. But i think I will speak for myself mostly - except for official informations, but I will mark them for a better recognition.
For sure I will not be all formal. I'm not that kind of person.

So ... a burning question from me ... What is your opinion about Necropolis? (But maybe you can express yourself under the Necropolis thread, as some people might loose their mind if we continue this particular topic here.)

I think that I'm not as passionate about the graphics as most of you, so I'm totally okay with the Necros - for me it is important, that the game works out, the graphics and the models are not in my focus, to be honest.
Please, don't throw those pointy stones. They hurt so much.
