An interesting fact:
Some biologists consider birds to be reptiles, not a separate clade due to the extensive physiological similarities between them. Since I agree with them to a great extent it means that we have only spoken about reptiles for the last couple of minutes.

Must have been a weird life for the first dinosaur that had some feathers on him... Just being like "okay now what is this..." And the rest of the species just looking at him like "dude..."

Points for you for the history discussion. I really like the medieval times and its history, so reading your latest posts has been very interesting.
I like that new girl, not even ten days she's registered and she already gave me two recommandations.
As for War-Overlord, I would like to suggest this post, as it was relevant and helpful to the ongoing discussion.
I still think Verriker deserves a QP.

what would they otherwise be? fact #2: the closest living relatives of birds (as a group) today are crocodiles.

well, like with everything related to evolution it was a very gradual thing. some dinosaur didn't just wake up with feathers (as amusing as the thought is). neither were feathers originally used for flight, but rather insulation and/or communication. there's also the fact that feathers also showed up in a related group known as pterosaurs and the genetic code for them exists in crocodiles as well (imagine THAT) though only dinosaurs developed fully formed feathers rather than just proto-feathers.
i love dinosaurs.

Well, they still are considered to be a separate class from reptiles.

They were in the trailer, unless Behemoths have one eye too in the world of Ashan. And as you know, in Ashan everything is possible.

Galaad said: I do appreciate all your accurate informations, but still I do think that there was a real feeling that something new was happening, and indeed they were living a great change and it was not only a subjective appreciation, even if we think with Jacques Le Goff that there is a long Middle Ages till our modern times. But you should be right to think that a major change happened with the Enlightenment in the XVIIIth c.
Followed by the industrial period of the XIX th c.. Another major change is our actual use of the web and the recent technology.
Oh, I agree. The feeling that times were changing drastically was something heartfelt by many intellectuals of the day.
But with benefit of a few centuries of hindsight, we have arguments to question whether those feelings of these times are warranted.
Further more, I am an adherent of my emeritus-professor's version of the Long Middle Ages theory. I.E. that Aniquity ended with the 12th Century Rennaisance, which transformed Europe from an agrarian civilisation into an Urbanocentric civilisation and starting the Middle Ages. And congruent with Le Goff, the Middle Ages ended with the Industrial Revolution.
Stevie: I couldn't care less how you judge my opinion. In the end, every opion is of equal worth, regardless if others agree with it or not.
I very much agree with Marzhin when he said here:
Marzhin said: My philosophy is basically: don't spit against the wind. Like it or not, Ashan is here to stay. Since I'm now part of the writing team, I'll do my best to improve it, to tell some (hopefully) nice stories in the spirit of the NWC era, and when I can I'll bring back some of the flavour of the old universe.
Marzhin, and with him no doubt many others, is making best with the cards he's been dealt. As long as the cards aren't dealt again, fighting Ashan is a lost battle. You may nibble at it's flanks, but the centre will not fall.
My time is better spent than spitting against the wind.

Say, that sounds like a swell idea for a new Necro unit
EDIT: As someone who has made up his mind, I'm all for spitting against the wind while it is still windy.
Now, the waiting period between the release and the announcement of the next game, that's the boring part.
