The_Green_drag said: How nice, they even offered us a way to get rid of the boring castle development! Now we can just be super economists and have lots of rescource income, all costs decreased, and just build two things in one day.
I wouldn't worry that much about it. From the fanday we know that the recruitment process is very costly, so ifyou want to make your army grow, you would need to be much more offensive in that matter. Keeping up with growing need for resources will be much more important than previously and the Economy skill would simplify this task but not tosuch a extent that no strategy will be required, no worries.
@Sempai: There is a concept in Chinese philosophy that is called "the dynasty cycle". You should definitely check it out. It reminds me so much of this diagram.

Hmm, Town Planner seems very powerful. I think it is powerful enough to be a Grandmaster or a Master ability, because this seems way too powerful for the early game.

I hope they have significantly increased the resource requirement of buildings since the fan-day. Champion dwelling cost like 8 of one resource, wyvern dwelling was like 2 of 2 different kinds, basilisk wasn't much either. With one random rare each day...you'll have a fully developed town in no time.

Honestly, they don't seem to give a damn about improving. Yes, everyone can agree things like Eagle Eye are less used. But who says it can't be improved?
If the game had more spellcasting units and the ability was improved so you can learn several spells rather than just one, then Eagle Eye skill (aka Arcane Intuition) would make sense. Not like this, not much. Similar applies to scholar.
I mean, is it that hard to just add few more bonuses? Fighter and Dragon Blood are just one-time only; I'd prefer if the effect was changed so it can be per each three levels (so it isn't too overpowering).
Ubi should know how to improve skills, not just copying them. Sloppy work. At least the Economy skill looks interesting, or parts of it, since even its perks were copied from H6. Though things may be different now, as we have the four rare resources back (though one more could've been introduced).

Oh, you are discussing those "news"? hahaha
I'm even bored to discuss this fulishness. How they gonna balance all that stuff, I can't imagine. Some of the skills are total op, some are just a waste lol. Like +2 def +2 attack lmao that's ridiculous.

They seem umimaginative but getting such a boost in hero's stats is a quite significant change.

Yeah, in a start. But not at mid or late in the scenario/campaign.

I took those +2 knowledge/magic in h5 only when got unluck and crappy random drop haha so nope, they are insignificant in any case when there's an option to pick any other, more "global" skill. And considering the fact that this is non-random system, the opportunity of getting another one will be there lel.

As novice perks, the +2 perks are probably meant to boost a guardian hero that won't leave the town area of control, and won't necessarily level up that much.

Its a shame that estates became only a (OP) ultimate ability. Sometimes a small boost to gold income is all I need. Now I have to devote my hero, or should I say secondary hero, to an entire skill...

In Academy, Haven and Necropolis only one hero has Economy as main skill, therefore acces to grandmaster in Stronghold not even one so none of orcs heroes has acces to grandmaster economy
Not every hero in the faction has acces to master economy
if you are playing with Randomness (as I assume all of you will) you don't even know how fast your secondary hero will get economy

This Estates skill is essentially a Grail. It's actually a good GM skill, it gives a decent boost but not instant win. It probably can be stacked ...

No. But it gives some variety, which is needed. It should be interesting enough to be considered for a main hero if the map is really poor. Not obvious if that will be the case.

Stevie said: Is an Economy skill really necessary at all?
That's like asking if any skill is necessary at all.
Not necessary for primary heroes, yes, most likely. It seems the increase to grabbing resources is in Destiny/Luck now, so there isn't much reason for a powerful offensive hero to get Economy. However, a lesser, secondary hero? Economy seems to provide a lot of bonuses to the other half of this game: money. Which is needed for town upgrading, units, getting even more units, accessing more spells via mage guild, defenses, and so forth. Sure, you may not need it, but you can easily get an edge out of it. Especially with the GM, though of course you need that as a main skill, which sadly Stronghold doesn't have (Though no one has Exploration so far. If that is equally useful, well...)
A lot of those abilities didn't exist before H6. I think it's one of the few things added that did well: it allowed heroes to be more active in the whole town/buying units process, rather than being mostly separate. And, of course, since getting buildings and whatnot all increase hero capabilities by increasing army size, diversifying armies via more unit types, and mage guild, the black smith, and so on, this is a way for heroes to act in the other direction.

Welp... I'm not sure that randomness in a non-random system will affect the game into a good way somehow.
