Started with a response myself but gave up. So much dissagreement..
But at least it was elequently presented, in relation to much of the other bile and resentment that keeps spawning on SC.
So do make a good reply that i can agree with instead

Since you seem to be intent on claiming Heroes is just a rip-off, let me tell you this.
Is Magic the Gathering a rip-off for having creatures like these?
Or does this game suck because it features Nosferatu?
Or do these pictures violate copyright because they feature walking, live trees?
See, the deal is you can take an idea and rework it a bit. These examples, as many others, have existed in Heroes games and beyond them. But if people sense that the thing is blatantly copied (like Arthas from Warcraft becoming a vampire in Ashan), with no ideas on improving it (hence why it is told vampire took some botox in face). It is not like the devs cannot take the H5 vampire design and add it into their game.
So to make story short, for NWC there haven't been any controversies because they had some vision in mind. Seeing some other games, movies or even literature uses the design, they took it. But Ubi just takes something that has only been seen in one franchise (like cabir looking like Charmander of sorts, with more clothes).

It's not the amount of "copies" you have, it's how you use them.
NWC made something unique and interesting with their setting and creatures. Ubisoft just reuses old and tired clichés.

Maybe because you don't know how to evaluate properly? Disagreeing with all points sounds a lot like you want to upset people and annoy them back. Could be because he said it is for new players or H6 fans, from which the latter you are.
Not saying that is wrong, but saying that you are disagreeing from obvious facts.

You mean in contrast to writing a long post disagreeing with every design/gameplay choice made by devs?
Its also something slightly disturbing with ppl who claim opinions to be "objectivly correct". And there is lots of that going around.

Ah, I must've forgotten that you should also check this out. It is also detalied.
Besides, nobody can say they are objectively correct about this. All things we and you say are subjective. But people forget they can be correct if it goes by the majority. So I can say H6 sucks because many people that played it say it also sucks. Same may as well apply to H7. People can give out reasons and try to persuade others, but will it work?

NWC was 25 [EXPLETIVE DELETED] years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
even the rocks were new at that time!!! what the actual [EXPLETIVE DELETED] [EXPLETIVE DELETED]??? how is this so difficult to grasp??? of course by now everything has already been designed and done! and the game tries to appeal to today's standards and trends! like it was a trend 25 [EXPLETIVE DELETED] years ago to have aliens in a fantasy rpg game and so on! people grow up and lets move on to more important subjects like the upcoming fiasco of a game that is to come! what can we do to change that?

So what's your point? Being unoriginal is something preferred these days?
I do not believe in that. But I agree about standards, which rise each year (or more). H5 did a much better work than H6 or even H7.
To improve? I don't think that is possible in current state. We share our thoughts and opinions, but that does not change much. If you want to, you can buy the game and mod it... if possible.
The best thing, in my opinion, is simply not to buy the game. We are not impressed nor amused by its general state. I know they can do better and by buying this it would mean that I support their laziness.
In other words, a simple, effective message to send to Ubi is not to be a troll when it comes to game development. They can amuse some 12-year old kids with 3D view and some new features, now knowing how simple the game has become.

Yes. But people (like Hermes or Properkheldar) can see it is not just bashing or pointing out only the bad things, as they claim so.
As if we have forgotten the good points. There are, but how many bad parts are in there? Don't deny it - I know it, you know it and others know it, too.

my point is that neither NWC was THAT great (it's just nostalgia for the old times), nor the new universe(ubisoft aside) is THAT bad as people in here make it out to be. I feel like I'm saying that the impossible here!! I mean really!!
I won't buy the game either until it's patched and working perfectly. I had a very very bad experience with heroes 6.
And the fact that I support ashan, and don't think it's the worst thing after hitler, doesn't mean I SUPPORT ubisoft! yet another unbelievable point of view of mine... If heroes community was a village I would probably be burned at the stakes for such blasphemy and revolutionary thoughts.

No. I know well Ubi's intent. It may sound strange, but does it not feel H5 was actually complete after TotE was released? A better example would be H6 - we almost got nothing in vanilla. They only started fixing through patches and giving additional content by pre-order, DLC-s and some online-only items.
See, these are examples they want to take the gold of our pockets just to have this game some interest. But what people don't realize this is practically post-development. H7 has been in development almost a year, and we also got some strange things. And I bet they want to use the same trick: post-game development.
Which is one of the worst things a dev company could do. DLC's or add-ons are just to extend gameplay, not fix something broken fill in emptiness in the first place.

And another note: the deal is in 3DO. They were the publishers, they were the ones that "enslaved" NWC to make so many Might & Magic games. NWC was just dev company.

No. I fondly remember playing the spanish localization of RoE (they never released the expansions in spanish) and it felt as a great game on its own. The expansions added more content and made it better, sure, but the vanilla version felt like a natural evolution of Heroes 2.
3DO milked nearly as much as Ubisoft, if not more, but H3 wasn't an example of that.

Oy, take that back! You just copied parts of my comment and have modified it to suit your needs. I claim copyright violation!
Edit: It is not even true. You can also play with original (even Ubi has refined it with graphics, though you still have the HD mod aorund). Additional content is additional content, it you are not required to install these add-ons, but is preferred. Unlike H6. And H7, from what it looks like.
