Dave_Jame said: Can I catch you by a word here. You wouldn't mind a master artist fro D&D? But you dislike a Master comicbook Artist? And what is wrong with other artists? Would you dislike something like this:
Jan Patrik Krásný? (He does DnD aswell btw)
no I have no problem with Olivier Ledroit, he wouldn't have been my choice personally because I think his work is garish, but in principle I think it was a good move of Ubi to collaborate with him
the problem is not with the authorized use of his style, (which barely IS actually distinguishable in the games they have made btw, if they made a game that really did resemble his art it would be cool,) but with the unauthorized plagiarism of Warhammer and Warcraft which goes on lol
Dave_Jame said: Or you are OK with the game beeing a D&D knockoff but beeing a knockoff of anything else is bad?
correct, although a unique style would be best, I am not against it that Might and Magic sees fit to take from the Larry Elmore style, because they actually bothered to hire him and the series is a D&D knockoff to begin with, that's simply the way it is lol
same principle as why as I'm sure Warcraft fans don't object to some Games Workshop influence but wouldn't like to see Warcraft out of nowhere start stealing from Larry Elmore, lol

Couldn't or wouldn't? Is there a C&D floating around on the internet somewhere?

I don't like liberties in HoMM.
If anything that was more of a M&M thing.
1- I recall them saying "couldnt" and the shadow stalkers being a work around to add them but idk where was that.
2- lol bye.

Yeah deers can be pretty fierce when the safety of their fawns is in question :/ Normally they are nice and calm forest dwellers like any other, but if you threaten their family they become very protective. Kinda like a moose or a bear or Liam Neeson

I actually really like the dragon artwork. It's not the average dragon and to me atleast, it is fairly original. Anyone else noticed the flowers growing on it's back?
Treant is a little meh. Unupgraded looks better than upgraded, don't really get the Sylvan symbol glowing on it's leg.

Disappointed with the look of the dragon. Again with that stupid H6 dragon head...
And a slower moving, wingless dragon shouldn't have such a serpentine body. It should be bulkier.

Dragon still looks to "H6-dragonish"
A tripod Ent gets a A+ from me, but really want to see the 3D models :-(
Kind of surprised that the "Idea" artwork of the Treant was the ida for the final one.

It wasn't the "idea" artwork, it was the official concept art for treant, when presented during line-up voting, that's what it said under the picture

Was it? It was already in the Compenrium, which was also the case of most of the "flawor" art presented duiring the vote, so I thought it's just a Photoshoped versin of that particular artwork.

Quote: Treants are born only on sacred soil deep within the forests of Irollan, near a Dragon vein or nexus attuned to the essence of Earth.
WHY are you adding more convouted unnecessary lore?
Quote: Treants are possibly the oldest creatures walking the surface of Ashan. The tales they would tell if only they could talk! Sadly, they can only… bark.
That pun is objectivly worse then the lore behind it.
Oh yeah, the art is meh.

@ Avirosh and anyone else wondering about the beholder thing:
Wikipedia: The Beholder is among the most classic of all Dungeons & Dragons monsters, appearing in every edition of the game since 1975. Different breeds of beholders have different magic abilities. Beholders are one of the few classic Dungeons & Dragons monsters that Wizards of the Coast claims as Product Identity.
Also mentioned here http://www.d20srd.org/faq.htm
In 1998 beholder was still free to use. When WoTC resealsed the 3.0 esition of Dungeons and Dragons, they decided to make a certain amount of "D&D only" monsters into product identity.

Pretty mixed on the Green Dragon after seeing that one video, but I'm optimistic about the Emerald Dragon. Here's hoping that's at least executed well.
Holding off my judgment on the Treant, though the Ancient Treant's blueness is da ba de da b- *smacked* questionable.
