@Stevie
I don t know if you make yourself the devil's advocate cause i think defenitly Heroes 3 is competitive.
1 - Stats show us every factions (creatures) is balanced. There s not so much to add as HotA show us, correcting abilities like fog of the lich's or fireball of the magog, even the double attack ability could be acceptable if the stats of crusaders remains the same when there are swordmen. Only few ability are broken : vampires, bone dragon, wyvern poisonous,.. Only some creatures are overpowered like storm giant.
So there s not so many changes.
2 - Spells. Here some problems, I think community mostly agree on imbalanced spells as bersek, town portal, mass slow.
There are some aspect of the current problems, not at all. It s the biggest problem in Heroes 3, but i think it s not unreachable
3 - Some skills are broken (Necromancy,...). HotA did well. Most changes on each skills could be pretty ok if community agreed on each new skill value.
4 - Native terrain : there s a little problem of balance.
Heroes 3 could be competitive if the game doesn t turn around of "one and unique figth" then ... I would blame the surrender option which is a little expensive but there s not substance to it. This problem is resolved by simultaneous turn preventing yourself to put all your chance in one figth. Maybe, then a turtle strategy could exist.
HotA already balance the starting army. It should really be a support to construct an H3 Inside H7. H3 is the theorical model, stats of skills or spells have to been discussed but the towns tree, creatures and spell organisation sound great to me (5 - Cost of building revised by HotA).
He s not competitive and popular, adding simultaneous turn, h3 is the best strategy game ever created. Some point has to be discussed, step by step. Of course, each changes could be discuss, and the changes are small.

If we are going again to the Necropolis topic, i don't mind the spider. It is just as good to use any undead animal for the necropolis army. Apart from that though, the most numerous "living" thing you can find in tombs are spiders and spider webs. Oh well, this is a matter of opinion and as it turns out a necessity for necropolis. But i do believe that either with modding or with the addition of another unit per core and elite tier the problem will be fixed.
Now, as for the townscreen. It captures the colors and the mood, also the ambiance but it fails terribly to portray a town. Living or dead, any civilization needs a functional place to work and function. What we have in the townscreen is by best chance a fort or a capital building (meaning a town hall) with various other chambers around it. It is not a town though. And certainly not something build by untiring, uncomplaining undead puppets. I wouldn't go as far as to request something of a Heroes V towers (it was nice yes, but over the top as well) but something akin to a town. No question that the spider legs are plain weird and nonfunctional. I mean, just a strong wind or a lightning and all buildings atop will fall...

If some of you feel insulted by might and magic franchise why do you keep returning and posting at the very place that insults you?

Because circle-jerks are boring and waiting for games is funnier than playing them.
Entertainment, insight, killing time at work, it's a number of reasons really.
And it's not the entirety of the Might & Magic franchise, mind you.
What I mostly hope for is to see improvement.

I think they are offended by the current people behind the current state of the franchise, rather than the franchise itself...

Of course, I just get annoyed at what some people say on this forum I am not a huge fan of H6 but there are people who like the game. Heck on the H7 steam forums they were many people who said they enjoyed h6.
It just grind my gears when people say that they are not"true" m&m/heroes fans etc. *sigh*
One thing I also dislike greatly is insulting developers even if I don't agree with everything that Erwan does. I can see that him and his team are trying to improve the game from H6 and that I can respect.
After playing the beta of 7 I can see they are trying to to balance what the old and new fans liked about the heroes games.
This is just my opinion on the whole subject you can disregard it if you want.

I was referring to this quote. This is just one example of useless post made just to provoke. And there are many like that one here.
I don't understand why people have need to constantly return to fan forum of the game they will never play and make those meaningless posts.

You don't know if they are gonna buy the game or not. Sometimes they do it for attention, other times because they have no where else to steam off and even because they just need someone to shout to...
Oh well..
Fact is, Ubisoft did try to make Heroes a competitive (online) multiplayer game with heroes VI but that idea failed. Mainly because heroes is meant to be played at slow pace and no matter what is cut out, the pace of the game will not increase by a lot. They are trying to go back to the roots somewhat with Heroes VII and i understand that they want to differentiate from Heroes V and heroes III. If they made a copy of the game then the studio wouldn't have created "something of their own".
Now saying that, it is strange that they did not include core heroes game features. They have gone for features that were newer and controversial like (imo) caravans, governors and area of control.

We would appreciate that, but considering how many claims they made in the past, many of which proved to be untrue, this all makes them sloppy.
Like that Necropolis townscreen, many have voiced their reasons why the spider legs should be removed. But they just go on their own way, which makes them even more stubborn than some, if not most, users right here, on HC.

Can't you be a fan of a franchise and expect certain things of a game so close to release? Either they be good or bad, the developers shared a lot of info thus far for many aspects of the game. In general, a fan of the franchise can know to a point if the game will be to his/her liking or not. The truth of course will be another thing entirely. But until then, people can defend their opinions but with caution. They may be found to change their opinion entirely after the game is released. And this goes both ways. The game may in its overall feel win people over or cast people away.

Because we know a lot of things already? Not just SC, but the beta phase (which goes in the second edition).

There is no opinion in my post. FuChris's post has absolutely no value in any sense.

There you go. That's how I can be a fan of a game that hasn't been released yet. I'm a fan of Fallout 4 and I don't know nearly as many things about that game as I know about Heroes VII.

Expectance often leads to disappointment, learned it the hard way several times over.
Better to roll with the punches and give a light jab now and then.
There's always hope of course, although in this case I feel there is little.
For instance; in an ideal world we shouldn't have to choose which faction be included in the vanilla game,
especially when the world of Ashan has so few factions to begin with.

Without definite proof it's just taking things for granted, not knowledge.
We "knew" the AI in Oblivion would be something special.
Postal 2 - a game which came out two years earlier - had better NPC interaction than Oblivion.

Yeah, and one can learn a lot from SC to see whether you like the game or not.
Fallout 4, well, doesn't have the development blog, you just find out through conventions and videos. And it has been announced last month for November 2015, or so it has been told. So there is a big difference here comparing those two games.
