Depends on your culture. Some don't make the difference in it.
As for me. I dont take Wyverns as dragons, due to their more animalistic nature.
I would like to see only 3 dragons in the game.
Green/emerald, Shadow/Black, Bone/Ghost
I think most other factions have enought alternatives for a champions.

wyvern
vs.
dragon
i remembered the difference, when i was looking up new types of monsters for consideration for my Fear faction. that, and names for the Fear heroes(different monsters in cultures around the world).

I know the difference but this is only culturally based. This may be true for example in english, but what about a language and culture that uses the same term for both creatures? That just don't have the need to separate them.

And with this line you just dug your grave. Ubi makes games (and books and a movie) and they bend the Wyvern to their will ;-).

That's the point - what we called today wyvern in past was "a serpent", "a snake" or what you have you linked a "winged two-footed dragon".
Besides "dragon" is not always huge flying reptillian but sometimes somthing real (English version).

Haven, Academy, Stronghold, Necro, Sylvan?, Dungeon?.
I can handle dragons with this line up if it's limited to 2 factions which for me would be Sylvan and Dungeon (dependant on voting of course), just please find something cooler in undeath than a bone dragon.
I don't hate on dragons, I just think they were over used previous to 6. Give me something different from faction to faction rather than the same thing every time. At the end of the day at least there's going to be an alternative option at the champion level.

Personally I'd love to try something else on Necro, like Death Reaper + Death Knights, or sth like that. Since Skeletons/Ghosts/Liches/Vamps aren't going anywhere, repeating Bone dragons too would be quite repetitive (and have in my I like Bone dragons).

This double champion system will likely see more dragons, but I'm not happy about it.

While I completely understand that, too bad you missed H5, maybe the best gameplay in the series, imo. Too bad for graphics though.. Xuxo's textures helps and Quantomas AI (Eternal Essence) too
Edit : To stay on topic, of course I'd like dragons as champions back !!

Of course. Heroes of Might and Magic wouldn't be Heroes of Might and Magic without Dragons. They've been in since the very first game.
However, I think their presence should be limited, somehow. Dungeon, Sanctuary and Necropolis only should have dragons.
Fortress and Stronghold only Dragonlike creatures.
Dungeon with the classical Red->Black Dragons. Necropolis with the Bone->Ghost. Sanctuary with the Kirin.
Fortress(if it will be in) must have Lindwyrms. In Norse Mythology Lindwyrms are giant snakes that breathe fire.
Stronghold should have Wyvern->Paokai, but as Elite. I'd like to see Cyclops and Behemoth as Stronghold Champion.
As for Sylvan, I don't think Green Dragons are a good idea. Dendroids and Unicorn for champion. Elite would be Pegasus Riders, Druids and White Tigers while Core would be Archers, Bladedancers and Pixies.

I never liked bone dragons. They are the equivalent of a light dragon for Haven or a stone dragon for Stronghold etc. Boring and unimaginative. It also looks weak. A reaper suits Necropolis better.
Dungeon should have black dragons, and maybe Sylvian can have a fairy dragons or something. Just not a big dragon with a different colour. The Kirin is also OK - a different kind of dragon.

^I agree, Bone Dragons are the worst, but I generally find the concept of undead uninspired and way overdone in fantasy stuff, they are always obligatory with the medieval knights...

First of all: it's great that we're going to have 2 champions for each faction. But I hope a hero will only be able to have just on of them and will have to choose.
And I don't want Dragons. They are the gods in Ashan. They should remain as gods. We shouldn't be able to use them. Not even fight them as boss fights.

AGAIN YES!!!!!!!!!!!! please why do you people think they are good in ashan? are they "avatars"? are they the gods themselves?children of the gods? and why should their children be IDENTICAL to the gods? come on nostalgia or not, before heroes 5, DRAGONS DO NOT MAKE SENSE!

I don't care if it doesn't makes sense. A lot of things don't make sense in Heroes, but I still like it. I like dragons, but I don't like the lore. So I want dragons, and I don't care about the lore

then i say some people want the full experience with lore and the gameplay in check, then you say what you said (which is cool), so you partly answered my question and raise another one. which might need a new thread.
do you care about the storyline of the game or you just play for the fun of it?

Bone dragon can be boring, but Ghost/Spectral dragons can make for cool gameplay imo.

That's because they have always looked rather plain in heroes. But they would look awesome with the right design and appropriate specials. Also.. while dragons are kind of overused, bone dragons do fill the huge skeletal creation slot A bone golem could also work if it looked twisted enough. The concept is not particularly inspiring but the end result could be.
Not quite what I was looking for but still.. not half bad.
