If you don't want to see it or is one of those "targeted" by it it could be hard to notice. They have very much tried to create their own community and shutting out different "opinions". It's a shame. would be easier to just make a new IP.

I never even believed they cared about our opinions. I am actually surprised people were even hoping they did.

If you're mocking the newcomers as "brainwashed", you're no better than those dismissing you as "old fools shaking your canes".

Not brainwashed... I'd sooner say people that don't make critical opinions about things they read.

I'm not mocking the newcomers when I say this. Not their fault if they are misguided by the company. You know just as me: "who is JVC?", "Good job Ubi" etc. As I said in an earlier post, at the fan day some dude even thought Ubi was the original creator of the series.

First off, apologies for misunderstanding your comment.
Second, it is worth noting that "being a fan of the series" does not necessarily mean "I know who the developers are." I didn't know who JVC was until I saw people complaining about people not knowing who JVC was... and even then, it took me a bit to find out what JVC even stood for. For a moment, I even thought it might be a user on the forums, like PROJ or something. Initials devoid of context are nonsensical gibberish to the uninitiated.

Hey, at least you know now. But to call yourself a true fan of the Might & Magic series one must know at least stuff like that. As well as who are Corak and Sheltem.

You can be a "true fan" and only have been playing the ubi games. That said, you owe it to yourself to research about the earlier installments. doesn't mean you can't be a "true fan" even if you don't. I didn't know of JVC until a while after joining here either but then again i find more importance in learning about studios rather than individual people.

With all respect, knowing stuff about who developed the game has nothing to do with being a fan of the game. I didn't know about JVC either until recently, and to this day doesn't really know (or care a lot about) exactly who he is.

But it is the part of the history of the franchise. If we were to ignore our past, what will we leave for the future? Of course, knowing that Jon Van Caneghem is the creator of Might & Magic series is but a fact. But if you look at the whole story, that Jon Van Caneghem was the one that created NWC and the one that made it possible that Might & Magic games, from I to IX, as well as Heroes, from I and IV, than that is something what one should know, as a fan.
Otherwise, then I can ask you just one thing: what has history taught you? With such an attitude one may not know that NWC was forced to do 3DO the Might & Magic games (How else do you explain more than 15 games in in such a short time?). And look, Ubi is making the same mistake: one claimed they are also forced to make the games.
Make similar mistakes and you may not see Ashan again. Which some, curiously enough, wouldn't want to. See? One should know the past mistakes and try to avoid them, else they may suffer the same fate.

Back in the day I only knew of JVC and members of his team from easter eggs and credits. It was not hard to deduce who Christian or sir Mullich were

@EnergyZ
Alci's point is that one doesn't necessarily have to know who made the game in order to know the game.
But hey, soon the newer generations will say random skills are lame, and we all know why.

Problem is that Ubisoft is not only able to afford those mistakes but are also too stubborn/stupid/jackassy to let go. We won't get rid of Ashan anytime soon, sadly.

I think is only a matter of good will. We got rid of uncle fester and Arthas. If all HC members loathing Ashan started to be vocal about it down SC, would be another story. At least, worth trying IMO.

Ashan is just a symptom. As long as the general guidelines and mentality remains the same, the setting doesn't matter.
