Alci's point is that one doesn't necessarily have to know who made the game in order to know the game.
But hey, soon the newer generations will say random skills are lame, and we all know why.
Not speaking about the game, but the whole franchise. As you said yourself, one asked did Ubi make the Might & Magic. Of course, there is a difference between not knowing and not caring, but the less it is known, the more "divergent" the Might and Magic games feel from the origin. Just read today on Wikipedia how Ubi only focuses on fantasy part on MMX, yet they claimed how the game would feel "old school experience". One could interpret that as a lie from Ubi's part.

This. And I don't see how you change a creative director's mentality and direction other than replacing him altogether with someone else.

Yet you knew who ERWAN was and "Asha uses all" did ring a bell didn't it?
With verriker constantly posting pictures of the guy and people calling for Erwan to be sacked, how could I NOT know who he is?
That point aside, it makes perfect sense to get an idea of who's CURRENTLY working on the game. Putting the Heroes series aside for a moment, I know that Patrick Weekes is currently a writer for Bioware and their Dragon Age series. However, I couldn't tell you snow about who worked on Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, or Jade Empire without going out of my way to do research...
And in the end, what value do I get beyond "names I'll forget five minutes later"? I've already forgotten who JVC is beyond "someone who worked on the older Heroes games". That's how little it matters to me.

I think people are underestimating the values. Too much. No JVC, no Heroes, no bankruptcy, and no Ashan. And I know well there are some of you that praise Ashan.

I agree with this, just because there would be no Ashan and new universe it doesn't mean the game would be better, general approach to the game would had to be changed,

Yes, but Ashan has so many restrictions that it would be easier to start all a new.
But this is a very good point, the general approach is wrong, Ashan or no Ashan.

I am more concerned about changes that go against the spirit of the previous games. I do not consider homm a static series where the past is dogma but I do find the change in direction a very big deal. To that end I dislike the over the top feel with ridiculously exaggerated armours, accessories, animations as well as the story tone that is too epic/serious for its own good. Ashan screams over the top while its story tries to take itself seriously. That's just not possible Take warhammer 40k for instance. It is ridiculously over the top and it doesn't even try to take itself seriously.
Quote: Ork behavior is dominated by the WAAAAAGH!, a gestalt psychic field they generate that affects the Ork psyche, as it allows Orks to instinctively recognize who is 'bigga' and therefore in charge, which also feeds into the physiological expressions of success. All Orks generate this field, and it grows stronger as the Orks enjoy themselves, generally while fighting. The WAAAAAGH! helps give momentum (and the name) to the Orks' planet-crushing WAAAAAGH!s. These WAAAAAGH!s are a cross between a mass migration, holy war, looting party and pub brawl, with a bit of genocide thrown in for good measure.
And you know what? I love them for it
I'm just getting the feel that heroes is trying to be something it never was. It is trying too hard and it is failing because its direction is misguided. It's kinda like what happened from prince of Persia 1 to the warrior within, the charming setting was replaced by a bleak one and the charming protagonist went emo and blooding. The music went all heavy metal (just lol) and the female characters became revealing and overly sexualized. Something similar is happening to heroes and I don't care much for it. The new games have made a number of lovely improvements but the story tone and general game feel overshadows them. I will not remember the campaigns for being awesome or the characters for being interesting and that is a real shame. On the other hand I will remember how many spikes the units had and that is not the good kind of memorable.

That's that. As long as one thinks or is convinced that one's doing a good job. Again, matter of perspective. While one boasts of looking at the horizon, seeing the setting sun on the ocean by the window of a bank, other may complain while sitting behind a baboon-like creepy lady in a line at that same bank.

Now, 4 days in the future, the Luc J P says:
The heck to whatever happened in the time of J.V.Caneghem(up to Heroes 4: Winds of War ver.3.0). 2004 is just that: 11 years ago and, I do not think that this founder of the series even cares of that long ago(since 2008 at least:7 years ago).
Ashan is definitely not a symptom and, has been the world chosen as for Heroes 5 version 1.0(since its open beta of Fall 2005:10 years ago) Yep, a whole decade has gone by ever since. Now, the third instalment of the Heroes of Might & Magic titles is about to be released: This Fall(Latest October or November-2015).
To me, Axeoth of Heroes of Might & Magic 4 has been a true symptom or mind set of the 2003 to 2005(a mere 2 years long). By late Spring of 2004, I went back to my good ole' Heroes 3:Wake of the Gods' game.
It has been since early Winter of 2007, when the first expansion of Hammers of Fate of Heroes 5 and, its new RMG feature that, I truly embraced Heroes 5's world of Ashan.
I still play my modified version of Heroes 5:T.o.T.E 3.1 ever since its release on DVD in Fall of 2007 and, at the same time, Windows 6.0 made its official debut on my 1 core of a processor type of a PC(Win. Vista Home Premium). Today, Win. 8.1 still lets such an awesome game work like a charm(Win. 6.3).
In a few days, Win. 10 Home(for me, anyway), will be downloaded and installed(Win. 6.4-6.5). Wish me luck at making H5:T.o.T.E. run as good as it was previously.
Hope Heroes 7 runs smoothly on Win. 10 Home Edition x64. Do not know if the devs. thought of this through. Let's hope so.

September 29th is the official release to the online market of the game.
That is also confirms that there will be only two official Beta testing phases and, both are at Closed status, only.
Meaning that there will not be any Open Beta testing before the end of the month of September-2015. What a pity! All of the unknown bugs won't be fixed until the very first patch of the officially released game. One or two patches before the end of the year.
Same old, same old. Major bugs fixing and adding one more faction per add-on expansion. Basically, two expansions total. The game does not get fully completed until the year 2017.
It is also ironic that the year 2017 is the final year for the very old Operating Systems' of Windows(XP, Vista-6.0 and, 7-6.1). Support ending for these OSes also means that legions of PCs will, literally, stop working(will no longer be allowed to boot in any online and, offline instances).
Obviously, that also means that optimal functionality of this latest title has to be attended to for Windows 10 and, quite possibly, Windows 11(by the late 2017's time line).
Enjoy the game, you lucky Closed Beta Testers!

In case you didn't know, support for Windows XP already stopped more than a year ago .
And where did you get the news that Windows machines will refuse to boot up once their support time has expired?

I've been having that as well. Login window keeps loading, page refresh / change to ensure login, close down login window afterwards. It's happened to me so often for so long that I've started to pay it no heed.
