My vote and ideas
I personally like the Undead Sorcerer- that's what a Lich basically is, after all...
However, I also like the Mummy alot, and it definately fits Ashan Necro's theme. So that's what I'd personally do:
Choose Undead Sorcerer for Lich and Blood Monster for Vampire. Give Liches Death Cloud (and spells for the upg. version), and Vampires flight (by transforming into green mist). Ditch Lamassu, move Ghosts up into Elite and possibly make them a 4-tile unit (like a massive dress made out of bones), also adding more abilities (Incorporeal anyone?). Put Mummies at Core (reskinned Ghouls?), and give them a curse-inducing touch- perhaps one that makes enemies more vulnerable to Dark magic, forming synergy with Liches and your hero.
That would make a much better Necro IMHO, and require relatively little work on the developers' part. I'd rather wait with the game, so they can deliver a better product.

What complicates this vote (for me) a bit is that they show only one sketch per design. Now my question is, how does this relate to the two versions of the unit we will see in-game? I like the idea of a mummy-lich, but for me it's only suited as upgrade. I'm afraid that for the sorcerer at least the non-upgraded version will not be skeletal, but more akin to it's H6 design. For me a better option would be to combine the two, with the sorcerer being the non-upgraded version and the mummy the upgrade.

You would think that, yes. Having leggs is defenitley upgrade Maybe we should rename it Half-Lich, for basic version and Lich for upgraded version. I also like Minastir's version. Undead sorcerer with leggs.

Ditch Lamasu alright, but then move Mummies into the Elite slot. Make the Spiders at the Core occupy 4 tiles instead of 1, so they have at least 2 large creatures.

How about ditch Spiders instead? Personally I like the Lamasu fine.

Mummy, that is called Mummy in the end, i'm sick and tired of Liches being a group of monsters, its THE monster that don't make sense fighting in groups as Liches are mostly working alone.

Oh, for the love of snow... you guys FINALLY get the consessions you've been asking for from day one, and you STILL say "ditch this, put in this." Thanks for reminding me on why I left this community in disgust.

Guys, to be honest, each of these models could be a potential future distinct unit with distinct abilities and roles.
Undead Priest or Eternal Scholar could be made as a powerful undead spellcaster able to use Nature, Dark and Prime spells.
Eternal Sorcerer is the Lich default. He can have the poison cloud ability the raise dead ability and plague aura around him. Also he could use the soul Lich ability making his damage convert to Life for another undead unit
The Ancient Mummy could be a support/saboteur unit that will cast powerful or mass curses on the enemy and will also cause morale drop when an enemy comes near it. He could also be made to cast insect swarm or summon scarabs (or spiders to fit the lore better)
And that's just a first differentiation. If i put my imagination down i could come up with better ideas.

Sligneris said: I... don't see why people choose the design over the semantics. Really, I just don't.
Because it was the original design of the Lich, taken from H6, which caused the most controversy and sparked an enormous hate-flood.
So it is quite obvious that people are now voting for the design they like best, the design they've been waiting for, the design that probably should have been there from the very start.
Exactly. They should focus on which design looks best, and not start "it's a mummy, not a lich" disputes, as if the name matters in this decision. Most people wouldn't be able to tell it's a mummy if it wasn't described as one in the first place...

I had a difficult time choosing...
At first I found the sorcerer and mummy more suitable to Necro and ruled the priest out.
After a lot of thought, I concluded I agree with Elvin |

Remember the awesome h3 mummy artwork?
Vote for Undead Sorcerer, they clearly got inspired from forge when drawing the ancient mummy

I see a lot of people wanted to keep away from the mummy so it can be a possible unit for a 4/4/2 unit choice. That's some big dreaming but what I don't get is if that choice system was to be implemented, why would anyone want necro (who had the most unchanged line up) to get a mundane unit like the mummy. If we get an extra core and elite slot I would want new creatures, not more old ones for necro. Combining classical creatures is a good median to make room for new stuff while keeping classical elements.

Stevie said: So, which one do you think is the better Lich?
The undead sorcerer seems to me to be a good lich, both in design and description. The priest of death has a covered face and no staff, but I must admit that I like its posture and the floating book. The ancient mummy has too many decorative elements and also a mask, so it might not even be skeletal, but a desiccated body like the Heroes 6 lich.
I decided to go for the second option, the undead sorcerer.

In the end, I chose to go for the Undead Sorcerer, because it looks the most like a Lich. I really didn't expect to see a skeletal Lich, but I'm positively surprised, so I decided to go with that one. I also really like the Ancient Mummy, but I think it's less Lich like.
To be frank, I'm happy no matter which one wins.

Yep, it's the only one that looks truly skeletal out there, plus we may convince the devs to make him walk as the model isn't done yet
