Yeah, well I agree with what you say Zombi_Wizard, but what would you like to call them? And in Ashan, I think it's cool that they made the lore so that the Wizards tested different kinds of animals maybe for different tasks, Strong and large Centaurs with horse as their animal parts are better at other tasks than ones with Gazelles for bottom halves.
Kiriyu, totally agree with you there though, I can understand if the Centaurs don't have much armor because they are that kind of unit but those leopard bra's are kinda stupid, still my favorite unit though.

yea, they're pretty freakin' great otherwise. Gazelle-centaur just look so damn cool!

With exception for one of the upgrades, H5 Centaurs weren't wearing anything at all - would you want female Centaurs to get the same treatment as male ones?
firstly, h5 designs doesn't really matter for this discussion.
secondly, they were not designed with sexy fan-service in mind.
thirdly, H5 has plenty of other examples i could bring out from the other factions.
fourthly, shut up
I'll go into more detail in another thread soon(Tm) enough.

i will also add that they lack features that are commonly linked to "uglyness" that were present in the h5 ones such as dry lips and wrinkles. as i said, i won't go into detail here.
oh, and they totally missed a chance to give her a cutie-mark

i dont like wyverns current look too. it could have been better, it has bad proportions in its anatomy, too thick legs and belly, too much curves without scaly sharpness.. and some features like claws doesnt look deadly enough. there are lots of good art out there related to dragons-wyverns-drakes... artists need to work harder.

I wouldn't call it a chicken (that seems to always be what strange winged units are likened to. The Phoenix in H4 was always called a chicken, the arcane eagle a chicken... Can't we call them a different insult?) but I would agree something about them seems... off. The head looks like it was mushed, and the eyes don't really have anything in them. The body seems stunted, and the wings don't really beat as much as they seem to need to based on its size. I mean, bats flap a lot, and these wings look to be based off of bats, but with scales; heck, it looks like they took a bat body and then added longer feet, neck and tail. I guess it resembles a chicken when just before it attacks due to its little precursory flaps (where the wings really don't go anywhere, but the "forearm" section of the wings flap a lot) and its neck lunge.
Actually, even the Basilisk looks kinda strange. Their upper portions of their heads look statuesque. They don't... move. No flaring of eyes, nostrils, movement of "lips" (to lizards even have lips?) It's like the only animated part of the head is where it directly attaches to the neck, and to the jaw.
I suppose these aren't the final graphics though, so they may add more details to the movements, but as of right now, it looks like it is tumbling down the slopes of the uncanny valley.

about wyvern...
longer legs-to reach out anything easyly and to make no need of hands-, feet claws need more fingers -to support strong grips on landing/catching creatures and to cause heavy wounds with claw attack.-
his belly looks over-fat. triangle, but it needs to draw a reverse triangle. upper chest needs to be larger-to support breath attacks- and his lower chest the belly needs to be smaller because of extra fat.
also a stinging sharp end to tail, like a scorpion's, to inject famous wyvern poison.
and about behemoth...
somehow it doesnt give the impression of a champion tier. it looks clumsy and low-intelligence... maybe his acctual size in battle map may help us to feel right because noone can tell that he is a large creature.
imho, a giant greature like this guy, should have somethings "normal" sized in anatomy so we may get he has huge body etc etc... a smaller head for example.
and its eyes, face expression... feels like a regular animal. i imagine behemoths as angry beasts.. it looks calm in this model.
body angle is also important: right now, it looks like he is about to give up fighting and surrender.. maybe because of neck/torso position.. he should look from up to down below, to weaklings to his feet with confidence.
i cant say more specificly, this kind of job requires some experiments to see how it goes.
it lacks somethings to feel special enough...

Wyvern is a little on the chubby side but compared to the dragons of h5 and h6 I consider this the best design imho. The head looks great and I like the wings. The whole thing is a lot less spikey then I was expecting, so I'm glad about that.

not really needed since it clearly uses its mouth to attack, not the legs. legs are primarily (and exclusively it seems) for walking/resting so they don't need to be bigger or have more claws. they're already adapted well for their current role. that said, it would be nice seeing it land when not moving.
cleglaw said: his belly looks over-fat. triangle, but it needs to draw a reverse triangle. upper chest needs to be larger-to support breath attacks- and his lower chest the belly needs to be smaller because of extra fat.
i don't see it. belly/chest is pretty flat as it is so i think you're getting the strange shape from the view being from the front slightly tilted. personally the stomach/chest seems absolutely fine.
cleglaw said: also a stinging sharp end to tail, like a scorpion's, to inject famous wyvern poison.
poison is clearly injected from a bite/breath so a stinging tail is completely unnecessary. that said, it needs to be much stiffer in order to actually be of aid while flying.
i might add that scales or rough edges or whatever would be a terrible idea since it would just add weight and that is not something that would aid a flying creature. the horn (and spikes) it gets on upgrade are to much (this also applies to any potential flying dragons).

Looks at the dragon on the picture... H1 dragon is this you?
I think wyvern could have a little better model.
About the lack of tail stingers (although the venomous upgrade has it). Originally the wyvern was just a term for a two legged winged dragon. D&D decided to add the stinger and use this instead of fire breath or venomous bite (wyverns "attacks" in medieval lore). So you could say this wyvern is closer to its roots.
As a side note... i so hate that they basically "turned" Smaug into a wyvern in Hobbit movies.

Ok, another disappointing town.
1) BORING, simple and overused special abilities, nothing special among them, nothing that stands out.
2) Orcs are fine I guess, especially since there is only one.
3) Female Centaurs are boring. They are called Anggitay in Philippine mythology Ubisoft, not centaurs, those are always male.
4) Basilisk with only 4 legs are stupid, but at least they brought something new.
5) Love the harpy and the fury this time, but boring abilities.
6) Never been fan of the Yeti, uhm I mean Behemoth
7) Wyvern looks like My Little Pony gone dragon!
8) Cyclops should be: Cyclops --> TARTALO, hate the upgrade name.
9) Gnolls are boring D&D monsters, of all monsters from myth, why take those horrid gnolls.
This seems like a desperate merge of Fortress and Stronghold, which kinda failed for me.
It's a good thing there is only one Orc unit thought! That is an improvement!

my problem is the blatant fan-service: you have (male) orcs completely covered in in fabric and sun protection and the nomadic, savage centaur lady gets a leopard print(!) bikini. seriously? would it be too much to expect the orc to get similar treatment? also applies to the harpy.
Yay idiotic sjwness. The H5-6 were pretty much naked regardless the sex, same for goblins and cyclopes. And the orc aesthetics from ToE are already in the more-canon period according to Marzhin iirc.
I loathe how some people equal female with without a lot clothes = disgusting fanservice for the creepy fat gollums playing the game without paying attention to context.

Actualy, male centaurs in H3 are "topless" aswell ... so that's women's fan service? The real reason they have a bikini at all is that game is not rated as 18+ only.
However, like with Vampire, I would point out that on a battlefield wearing some protection like armor is no doubt superior to having no protection at all. And bikini is not it. For archer unit, it's ok I guess tho. But if they would wear minimum armor, then helmet would be the first to put on, to protect from projectiles. Second, as most projectiles would appear from above, and rain down, the back is the most exposed and large area with centaur. That would need atleast some padding, as most hits would go into that area. If you are neglecting head protection and horseback protection, why bother with torso.
Another thing tho, I am sorry to all centaurs out there, but I find them quite ugly creatures. I would not get out with any centaur, topless or not ... something about their horse part would put me off. So unlike succubuss or vampiress, which I would expect to be seductive, I don't find centaur sexy at all.
