It should be merged with defence stance speciality from MoP...
could also have possibility to move your troops anytime you want in whatever order when wait possibility used....

When RoE I played without Tactics.. The best strategy what? My secret.. Ok The Mandate of Heaven (RoE/3DO) map.. AI with 7x 7lvl legion.. Because I'm a slow player, WTF that allowed to noob players.. Ok I beat the map by my gaming philosophy.. Later on H4.. I loved speed.. I went to WoG back, where is speed.. But H3C demanded too much Tactics, ok then press a enter to ready without change, if opponent Tactics, ok then I change.. But I love also Tactics, when you see in moving amount.. Ok go to maximum line, and you cast a Haste or Prayer, and the battle is done.. It gave me to reduce the use of Slow.. Today I play speed or maximum line..
HASTE AND PRAYER!

062D98 > EB 30 will disable the instruction box that tells you how tactics works at the beginning of every battle.

Here is my opinion of tactics:
I wouldn't bother with tactics if you have fast units or mass haste/mass prayer, but can be useful for those tough but slow units, which suddenly become offensive fortresses rather than backline slowpokes, it's also good for the early game when you need to take down those annoying shooters and don't have the right speed/spells.

Well this is an old thread. My opinion has changed since I created it. Still arranging your troops every battle can be annoying and Tactics does'nt have much to do with ...well tactics.

If both side had it, it shouldn't cancel each other...(battlefield should be bigger); higher level of Tactics should provide fog of war above your troops...maybe only higher levels of Eagle Eye skill could see into the shroud...

I have thought about the first point before and there is a reason it cancels in game code.
Tactics phase can't be simultaneous or each player would be able to respond to the other in a never-ending dance. If faster creature player goes first, he actually gets an unfair disadvantage.
Tactics is very powerfiul even OP, if somewhat slow.
Tactics phase creatures should teleport to destination or just be placed. Having them walk is annoying.
Perhaps tactics "arrangement range" should be much smaller (1-2-3 hex)

tactics should let you build tactical structures on battlefield obstacles, like archer tower that gives +15% damage to ranged units in inside it on a pile of stone.
