"I, well...I suppose I should. Sure, I was able to destroy the wagon with this wound. It did strike first however. Well, maybe I did, giving it the thing to stab my leg with but I still felt it deserved what it got." Orryth gave out a short chuckle, and then scanned the room once more. "Where is that one anyway?"

"Nothing too horribly bad. At least, I don't think it is. It might get worse if I leave it. I thought I escaped unscathed from that...mistake, but as I was getting out from beneath the wagon, I shifted wrong and got my leg with an ice shard that had punched through the wagon. With that, I shifted wrong again as an involuntary reaction and the shard went a little deeper. The wagon and said shard are no more, but the wound is still there."

- Take a seat so I can have a better look at it - Nivera said to Orryth. The orc did as instructed.
- Barkeep! A mug of firewater! - The dryad said. moments later, she was handed a cup with the beverage.
Nivera had Orryth roll up this pants, so she could see the wound.
- It's not that bad, but can cause problems if untreated - She said as she poured some of the firewater onto the wound to clean it.
- That should do it - She said and finished the drink. The dryad then began one of her healing incantations, and the wound on Orryth's leg began to slowly heal.

Domerth, along with Nightshade and John, had returned from the meeting with the Silver Gryphons.
Domerth filled in the rest of the company on the matter, and after dinner had retired to rest.
The next morning started off with a pay day. Domerth handed over 100 talars to each member of the expedition, to spend as they please while in the city.
Magnus returned, with freshly forged fans for Hahn, and was given a task by Domerth to go and buy whatever metalwork was needed for the expedition.
Domerth, along with both Samann sorcerers went into a meeting with the captains of the companies guarding Beryl. The rest of the company, while some given extra money to purchase specific supplies, were largely left to their own devices.
People were talking about a merchant caravan from Sapphire arriving, carrying exotic merchandise, rumored to come from the west.
Before departing to the meeting, Halfman gifted Orryth a tome with techniques on how to focus one's spells, figuring it would help the young orc even further. Halfman also promised that the proper training will start when they'll leave the city.

Either way, the half-orc goes around town and visits the market, to browse through the merchandise.
After some time, he managed to buy a rapier. Costed him quite a bit, but better than fighting with a simple dagger.
As he came back, he realized he could sharpen his battle skills. "Uhm, master John, do you think you can give me some pointers on fighting? Hahn is teaching me, too."

There wasn't much of the meeting to get out, except for a more detailed situation on the road to Sapphire.
With the business concluded, Domerth decided to take a walk through the market. There wasn't anything trully special there, except for the merchants from Sapphire. Their wares were nothing that Domerth had seen before.
The craftsmanship of these wares was no doubt one of the finest quality.
There were clothes, weapons, various trinkets and statuettes, of what it seemed gods of the Pantheon. People seemed heavily interested in these wares, and the stalls were heavily crowded.
One particular piece did caught Domerth's attention. A sword. It seemed to be a simple piece, except for the intricate engravings on the scabbard, as well as on the hilt and pommel. There was something most unusual about this sword. For some reason, it reminded him of Wyrm's Fury, much in it's design, although this blade lacked any runes or gemstones in it's decor.
- How much for the blade?- He asked the Sapphire merchant tending the weapons stall
- 200 talars or 2 forints good ser. I accept gemstones and checks written by banks of any freehold or the Gilded Pouch Clan as well. - The merchant replied. There was a custom in the North to carry gems in exchange for large sums of money. Throughout the land, bank notes were gaining popularity as well, as a means to carry large amounts of money that doesn't weight you down.
Domerth gave the merchant two forints and took the sword.
- A pleasure doing business with you ser. I hope you are satisfied with your purchase.
Domerth thanked the merchant and was on his way back to the inn that the expedition stayed in.
Magnus was already there, directing the merchant's assistants where to put the freshly bought supplies.
After a quick lunch , Domerth decided to keep on moving, as soon as the rest returned from the market.

John looked up (or rather looked less down) when Larkas approached him.
"I'm not really the one to teach you how to fight. You rely on speed and technique, while I utilize my size and strength. I would be an ill master for you. Maybe you should ask Bryn to give you a few pointers. She is an accomplished fighter and unlike me she is roughly your size." A faint smile showed up on John's face for the first time in days as he said it.
When Domerth returned, John approached his leader.
"How was the meeting? Did you decide on our next move?"

'Elepaio showed up at the inn covered in a menagerie of necklaces and wearing a tall hat on her cavalier hat that appeared to be the effigy of a god's face. She looked at the room wordlessly and then walked to her room jingling the whole way.

- The meeting went fine. Although the patriarch of Beryl was more concerned about the war between Emerald and Topaz more than anything else. Despite the continuous bandit attacks that seem to plague the western road, it seems it's now the only relatively safe route to Onyx.- Domerth said. - But given what the merchants of Sapphire haul to trade, it's hardly surprising. - He told John about the wares he saw in the market that were sold by merchants from Sapphire. - From what I've learned, the brigands only target merchant caravans, so they should pose no problem to our expedition. Still, I expect no one slacking around, and be on their guard.

"Domerth... I've been thinking about everything we've seen so far. I really don't like it. You were not here when we last fought the cult, but it was a vicious war. And now they're back and are strong enough to summon voidspawns. In addition to that, if the merchant of Sapphire have access to ancient artifacts and high quality weapons I'm sure the cult has got their hands on them as well. We came prepared for an expedition, not a full blown war.
I promised your father I would look after you, but... if you'll give me permission I would ask to leave the group for now. It's been decades since we've been to the North, but the Tattered Banner crest and my word still carries weight for those we fought for. Even the dryads accept me in their forests and listen to my advice. The in-fighting between the Free Cities worries me and if you'll let me leave, I would use my influence to try and unite the North against the cult. Because I'm afraid that as we are now, we may not come out victorious."

Domerth sighed.
- Although I'd really wish to have you here, since I'm not as well versed in diplomacy as you are, and we sure as hell could use your fighting prowess if such a need arises, I think it would be for the best to part ways for now. Both Halfman and Nighshade agree that this war between Emerald and Topaz is no mere dispute over trade, but in fact a ruse to further divide those loyal to the Pantheon. You do have my permission to leave John. Do what you have to. The Samann Inquisition is looking into the matter as well. Well, I guess all that's left for me is to wish you luck on this endeavour.
Domerth turned to Larkas.
- No, we're not traveling by sea. We're taking the wastern road, of which some stretches are alongside the coast.

John put his enormous hand on Domerth's shoulder reassuringly and went to pack his things and say his goodbyes.

Federigo approached the table in which Domerth sat, his hands full of parchments he gathered, having overheard part of the conversation he said: -Well, glad I didn't waste time in gathering some information, milord, I contacted a relative of mine and he seems to have done some thorough mapping of the terrain near the western road.-
As he left his papers on the table he realized John's intentions and wished him good luck in his future endeavours.

- ah, very good. These will come most useful. - Domerth said, while checking the maps and documents provided by Federigo.
Few days had passed, and the Expedition was on the road again. Tilled fields soon yielded to a landscape of ruins and stones. This site was once a remnant of an elven city, which was stood silent untill prior to the War, when adventurers rampaged through it, hoping to find some relics of the long dead Elven Dominion. The search was fruitless, and the remnant of the city was turned into nothing more than piles upon piles of stone and rubble.
The road turned westwards from the ruins, near the coast. There was a large cliff by the road, which stretched for a few leagues. The road itself was paved with stone, and maintained neatly.
By one particular stone, Magnus requested to stop.
- Tis be somethin good 'ere lads - He said, as he and Ingvar pushed away the stone. Behind it, there was some hefty cracks in the wallside of the cliff.
- Let's break this open. C'mon lad, swing that pick of yers - Magnus said to Orryth.
Domerth watched curiously as what was about to happen. Magnus did after all had a nose to find hiiden caches of goods from time to time. He wondered what was inside that cliff.

Orryth stepper up to the cliff wall. "You just want me to use my pick? Not my spells? I've got the perfect.... Just kidding. Probably not ready for that yet. Haha!" Having said that, Orryth started picking at the cracks.
