- Who's their leader is beyond our knowledge - Mikolaj continued. - I'm pretty sure we had killed them during the war, and the rest, at least in Merinanth and Kythay were wiped out by the inquisition of Clan Samman. They didn't reached Emerdina and Bonswada as far as we know. Their advances were stopped here. Back then, Dragomir had killed the High Prophet of Jagnir during the Siege of Diamond. Perhaps, there is a new High Prophet.
- I think we'll find out more as we go deeper into the North.

We have next to no knowledge of our enemy, while, no doubt, they've been studiying the Brotherhood over the course of the years after the war. The more information we obtain, the better. If you don't mind, I'll handle the captive's interrogation. It is not my first time dealing with these cultists."

"I have been meaning to ask about that, actually. Obviously we weren't the only ones to encounter the Cult, but few outside of the Brotherhood had extensive dealings with them. Yet you speak of them with an air of experience about you. What is it that ties you together?"

- So this dangerous collective was someone else than the Inquisition of Clan Samann? - Halfman asked. When the sorcerer was in a talkative mood, he'd often told stories of the mage clan's most skilled sorcerers and their exploits. The tiny wizard took a sip from his goblet, and continued to talk.
- One of our new recruits - He nodded at Larkas - Had found some of the artifacts of the cult, a sealed tome specifically, on the leader of the band that had attacked us. Unfortunately, without the keystone for it, I cannot say what it holds. Second, since this involves the Cult, I'll be supervising the interrogation, as a representative of Clan Samann.

- Indeed.- Halfman replied.- The recent attacks, although vicious, yields proof that the cult is still weak. There were no voidspawns accompanying the cultists that laid siege here nor the ones that ambushed us. Neither there were any of Jagnir's own vile servants. We can presume that there aren't yet conjurers powerful enough to summon them into our world.

- Settle down, all of you. - Domerth said in a strict voice.- The war was disastrous indeed, but it was the North that suffered most. Though my father and the eldest sitting with us today dealt a crippling blow to to the cult, it wasn't a killing blow.
- Aye, 'tis be true lad.- Magnus said. - The fightin's been tough and bloody, but a blasted lot of 'em evaded our grasp. They fled like rats from a sinking vessel, cowering in their holes, for decades... - Magnus continued to rant, but nobody minded the dwarf's talk.
Domerth put his knife and fork down, and wiped his mouth with a handkerchief.
- Let's not waste any time then. Let's go chat with the prisoner. - He said standing up.
- What bloody good will that do eh? - Magnus was still in the heat of his ranting, reverting to speak the dwarven native tongue, which few sitting behind the table understood.
- He'll be like this for a few hours.- Domerth said calmly. - So, Alder, Halfman. With me.
The sorcerer hastily finished his cup of wine and stood up to follow Domerth.

Domerht along with the two of the Brotherhood went down to the dungeons of the keep. In the torture chamber the captured cultist was already chained up, with hands above his head, and stripped of his roughspun robe. The symbol of the cult was burnt onto his skin, on his chest, where his heart was.
Domerth took a wooden mug and filled it with cold water. He then dumped it out on the cultist's head, and slapped him in the face a few times.
- Wake up. You have a lot of explaining to do.
The cultist looked at him, baffled at first, but then grinned with a mad smile and splurted out some words in a tongue unknown to Domerth.
- What did he said?
- He hailed his dark god in the tongue of the voidspawns.
- All of the cultists know this language?
- Yes. From what my colleagues have gathered, learning this tongue is mandatory to surpass the rank of novice, and be accepted into the initiates.
- Do they know how to talk in our tongue?
- I suppose. - Halfman shrugged.
Domerth put the wooden mug back on the table.
- Alder, why don't you knock some sense into him? - He said, leaning on the table.
