Honestly the last few of his movies haven't done much for me. Basically everything after Kill Bill has been Meh. Yeah, Christoph Waltz is great, but a great performance doesn't necessarily make a great movie. Inglorious Basterds had some good moments, but it was far too drawn out.

Inglorious Basterds or Django weren't as astounding as his early movies for me either but they were still good. However, they were good at something he had already been great at. The Hateful Eight is different though, it's an Agatha Christie style murder mystery and I loved how he combined that with his own style.

I loved that movie specifically because it was so drawn out. Django was great too.

I liked Hateful Eight the most, marginally more than the others, because it felt quiet different from what I was expecting. As people arrived at the cabin and basically all plot happening in that same cabin, it was fun and had amusing moments.
Kill Bill was ok, I.B. was kinda fun, with a very nice acting which repeated its feat in Django, which was another entertaining movie.
P. Fiction, I never watched it completely. I remember I fell asleep when Travolta and Poison Ivy started dancing. The scene seemed to drag for soooo long. When I woke up, I was rather uninterested in finishing watching it. Then I borrowed that DVD and it never came back. And then, something comes to my mind: So what? Just tish-tosh. Ignore it.

Nay, you are wrong, despite of nonsense in the "Pulp Fiction" movie, it is also a deep stuff about choices that human can made, the choice is the most difficult thing in human' life. And when this boxer stand on the edge of choice - to run away, and live long and strong, or to risk by anything and everything to protect the innocent from the horrific suffering and deaths in the future - his life that have a danger to end in the horrific suffering, the life of his wife etc, This is indeed horrific situation. And it was when those boxer is looking into abyss itself. Something similar was with those crazy nigga' with a ridiculous haircut. Of course the movie is a nonsense, and usually have almost no connection to the real life , but still it impressive to me. Imho - sooner or later the most of peoples will appear on the edge of the abyss trough their lives, and they will be forced to make such choices, and I placing ma' bets that the larger part of them will made a very predictable choice... , especially it is confirmed by the history of mankind itself.
Nay, - don't read stupid frostysh, he posting a nonsense that only will bring a problems, nothing more .
P.S. I have not understood a joke about Zed.

Whatever hell happens in that Pulp Fiction movie, I cannot vouch for it without seeing it, just like you cannot say it's right or wrong of me of thinking this way. He movie was appeasing, but not great to catch my interest until I fell asleep. Now, if you have nothing better to do, take your gibberish elsewhere or control your schizophrenia.

There was definitely darker comedic elements to pulp fiction(my particular favorite was when Travolta had no muzzle discipline and blew Martin's head all over the backseat of the car; and the ensuing hilarity afterward). & it certainly comes close to a dark comedy, but I think overall the movie is more along the lines of an adventure flick. That's how I feel when watching it; an adventure.

What made Basterds and Django great were the villains, not the heroes. I mean the heroes were fine, but who gives a snow about them compared to DiCaprio and Waltz. When DiCaprio died in Django Unchained I was like "NOOOOO! I WANT TO HEAR HIS ACCENT MORE!"
Kill Bills are great for the music and the climatic scenes. Beatrice vs Elle is my favorite choreographed fight in film, ever. Ip Man comes in close second.

I have a greasy Italian uncle who shares your strange attachment to the Godfather. I watched 5 minutes of it with him before but got bored.
I was a teenager or something. Who knows. Maybe I'd love it. I love the parody of it in Robin Hood: Men in Tights, so that's a good sign.

Well, it's not exactly specific to me and your uncle. To quote Larry King, "you can't give a movie a ten, you give the Godfather a ten." I have not witnessed one person who did not admire it. The directing, the acting, the music, the story, not only all of it is superb by themselves, they complete each other on a level that is seldom seen in cinema where one thing or the other usually goes wrong or at least not perfect. And it's not just beautiful, it's also thought provoking without being deductive at the slightest bit.
Just spare a night for it. Quickly.

It so happened that I watched The Godfather after I had already read Puzo's book and got disappointed by the missing and rushed scenes (as opposed to the book) which lowered the impression. Not exactly the best way to judge a movie but that impression stuck to an extent even when I watched it again some years later. So that's that, life is unjust.

The book is ok (I finished it in three days or something like that) but doesn't come close to the artistic quality the film has. Nothing is rushed in the movie, the tempo is ideal, there are of course many chapters the movie skips but that's inevitable in a book adaptation and the dramatic effect is much stronger in the film, the book is realistic on a journalist-writer level, the trilogy is epic. If we also include the second movie, I also preferred how Coppola did not stick to the chronological order of the book and choose a parallel storytelling between rising Vito Corleone in the 1920's and rising Michael Corleone in the 1950's, enabling him to emphasize the contrast between the social norms and the very different psychology of the father and the son.

Let's call that your opinion. Perhaps if I watched the film first and read the book after that mine would be similar but that's not how it happened and ultimately it's not. I didn't have such "issue" with The Godfather 2 so I can give it its due as a great movie. The third one is just OK compared to the other two.
