You never heard of Nat Turner, just wiki him. They even made a movie about him last year but although I downloaded it, haven't seen it yet. It's callled Birth of a Nation.

For someone who constantly posts in the movie thread and watches a lot of movies, you sure know how to skip the good ones! The Godfather, the Hafeful Eight, next thing I know you've never seen the Good, the Bad and the Ugly or Seven either.

While browsing for something else entirely, I've stumbled upon this. It's fun to read in a "little things you didn't know" kind of way, but when you read between the lines, it has a lot to offer () about why I prefer the movie to the book; the intro, the finale, all the key stuff when it comes to the impact of how a story works. For instance, in the book, we have Kay going to church and praying for Michael to be forgiven as the finale, I never knew Coppola filmed that detail but decided to leave it out, it was a spot on decision, everything else is the same, when Clemenza enters the room to pay respect, Kay suddenly realizes "it's all true" and the transformation of Michael from "this is my family, this is not me" to "business is business" is complete, because at that moment, he is even a liar to the one he loves most, the door is closed. The book has more detail naturally but how to focus on and emphasize what matters, that's where the movie excels.
