Interesting but a little too "Modern" to my liking.
I prefer more H3/H4 - type lineups which are more "thematically" than racially linked. More moody, and not so much lights and special effects

1) Devils MUST be part of Inferno. They belong there, and they're stronger than pit lords... or at least that's what Heroes 3 had made us believe anyway
2) Djinn as champion creature?? HELL YEAH! This should be nasty
3) some creature belong in certain towns IMO, like for example behemoths in Stronghold (why are there no monkeys in Stronghold by the way??), or pegasi in... I don't know.... maybe academy, or even Haven? Also, where are the Titans?????? Some creatures are really iconic to HOMM (they've been in this franchise all along), so it's not right to just leave them out all of a sudden. Titans, Behemoths, even ghost dragons... all these creatures should be in the game
4) where are my beloved Magic Elementals??? Those creatures are so unique, and so cool that it would be a shame NOT to bring them back
5) I like the Sanctuary. I have no idea what the serpents are, but I don't care either, because there's nagas, wyverns and hydras in there. My favorite town by far by how it looks at the moment
6) The Free Cities... that's a new faction that I've not seen before in HOMM and it looks nice. I think all creatures in that faction belong there, so you should leave it like it is
7) Minotaur in Academy????? Hell NO! The minotaurs have always belonged to "evil" factions, and Academy looks anything but evil to me. Either leave the Minotaur in dungeon, or in sanctuary, or at least in "The Free Cities". They could even be linked to Stronghold if anything, just not with Academy
8) and since I've mentioned Sanctuary a couple of times already... a "sanctuary" is something holly, and spiritual, and has nothing to do with all those creatures. Either rename this faction something else (that's more topical to its lineups) or replace the creatures in Sanctuary with holy / spiritual / good creatures, and move the current creatures to another faction
9) treants as champions?? Not a good idea IMO. Treants have always been elite creatures at best, so we've got used to them being elite and you should keep it like that
Everything else looks OK... for now. We will see later how everything fit into place: spells, arties, skills, etc.

And maybe it's sanctuary as in Wildlife Sanctuary?

Same could be said for djinns/genies...
I personally like the idea of Treants as max level creatures, if they get abilities which make it worth it.
But maybe let max level creature be a choice as in H4.
For example, I loved Green/Gold Dragons as well.

One creature is too few to make a faction up. Also, it could be called like that, yes, but generally people associate sanctuary with a shrine or something.

I don't. And be mindful that I LOVE dendroids (even my avatar has one ), but I still don't see them as a champion creature.
Anyway, if HoMM 8 turns out to be good overall, I could live with treants being champions, but if 8 is also a failure like 6 and 7 treants as champions will be another reason for which the game will have failed... probably

A bit of the same old with some questionable choices. I wouldn't mind an unoriginal lineup if the gameplay was exceptional but I don't see anything about gameplay either. And if there are less tiers, there should at least be some alternative choices no?

Well in Heroes games actually it is the opposite, in most games Ents would beat Genies in one on one combat; sometimes they are higher level as well (As in H5)...

Ok. But I still don't like it. To me, it makes more sense that genies are higher level than ents. Besides, if you want to keep the feel that ents have had throughout the entire HOMM series you have to make them slow, and a slow champion is no fun to play. I mean, you can't even make them as fast as Hydras in Heroes 3, cause otherwise they lose their feel of sluggish creature, and if you can't give them at least 5 speed (to match the slowest champion in H3), then what's the point of making them champion creature in the first place??
Sorry, but as much as I love ents I don't think they should be champion creature. Elite at best

Simply no. I wouldn't buy Heroes 8 if it featured these line-ups. There's a hefty dose of repetitiveness, dullness, same old same old-ness with some added questionable choices in the mix. It's basically the same thematic/racial line-ups that we've seen time and time again and it's become so boring and dry that nobody's gonna bother mustering up enthusiasm for them. Heroes needs to reinvent itself to keep up with the growing standards/demands and this is absolutely not the way.

if it all comes down to personal taste then whats the point to argue? Power level is relative and it is closely related to world building and lore. Treant/dendroid/ent as in LOTR,WOW and Narnia can be fast, aggressive and lethal as hell.

my same thought, why even call it H8 when it is so anti-innovation? Ashan's lore is poorly written and so is anything related to it.
People always forget how innovative NWC was when they keep re-iterate Hmm games from 1 to 5, including rewriting/rebooting lore and faction lineups. Now I just feel bored whenever I see a theocratic human haven and Persian themed academy.
H3 unit upgrading progression is also an outdated mechanics that NWC realized when they made H4. Surely H4 was not properly finished but it got so many ideas on the right direction.

Umm... if you're talking about the ents in the LOTR movie, then NO. They are NOT fast. Lethal, yes, but not fast.
Would you have fun playing a champion creature (the ents) who have 3 movement? Cause I wouldn't, despite of the fact that I love the ents

dude? watch the movies again and see how fast they run when they do try to. And the latter part of your argument is totally unrelated as whether it is fun or not depending on how its gameplay mechanics is designed.
Speed does not matter, if it has something else to compensate. I would definitely enjoy playing it as the highest tier creature if it can somewhat resemble the treants in narnia.

even if you exclude H4 (which changed the most), there are still huge shifts in lineups between H2 and H3. H3 was basically a reboot (move to another continent) and even more so was H4 (move to another dimension).
I don't see any chance we ll see enroth, axeoth or Ashan again, i'd love to see a new world with new lineups and the gameplay, rather than themes and nostalgia, should be prioritized.
If we have good gameplay and lore, the possibilities are unlimited. The devil can be in human faction, the orc can be the elves' boss, the elves might love machines and dwarves love nature, who knows? After all, Hmm was originally just a spinoff from MM rpg franchise, what makes it stand out is the RPG (heroes) elements and the Might&magic branching paths, not "human must looks like this, elves like this and dwarf like this".
Ubisoft doesnt just own Hmm, they own M&M, which is the only fantasy themed IP they have right now. I hope next time they ll try to set up a universe that can compete with other popular fantasy IPs
