Voted Cove but it's mostly because of heroes and effectiveness of starting armies. As I said somewhere else, after some time all my main's armies look more or less the same: Archangels, Titans and a fast firebreading creature (Phoenix or Azure Dragons preferably).

Castle and Cove are statistically slightly above average in both damage AND survivability.
Cove has better specials and the MVP Ayssid which outdamages many upgraded tier 7 units and flies. Actually it out-damages everything but Archangels, lol.
There is a 40% difference of full population damage-per-week in Castle vs. Inferno scenario, assuming a first strike. So you know...
Castle also produces 16% more effective HP per population.
It's really roughly a no-brainer why Castle kicks so much butt.

Yeah I agree Castle and Cove seems really strong, Tower also became very good in HotA imo.

I think it is either Cove or Tower. Voted for Cove still. But I'd say it's a biased opinion as I love the Cove.

I think they are all better balanced compared to pre-HoTA, but my personal favorite remains Rampart. I had fun with Cove, probably will with Factory, but I always go back to Rampart - my all time favorite.

Well, Castle players mostly pick up Valeska and look for a better main, but that's for JC and multiplayer rules. If you play impossible difficulty, you can't afford 8 heroes 1st day and you're heavily RNG dependent.
JC is a "meta" of its own.

But isn't Aine an actually solid pick for impossible because of the gold? I remember doing this in the past, albeit that was not HotA.

A gremlin specialist would be instapick.
well honestly Aine's fine. They all suck anyway and you want to change the hero so... might as well take the gold.
and she starts with scholar so it's not terrible once you get a resurrection specialist. At least you don't have to look for a scholar guy to pass it to your main.

Really not much reason to pick another tower hero other than Aine regardless of difficulty level. It does matter only if you have lvl2 shooter specialist. For example I almost always start with Octavia in %200 but Calh is probably better in %160.
