No. I think it makes more sense to condemn both Hamas and Israel's apartheid-style treatment of Palestinians than it is to say that Hamas isn't a terrorist organization. Targeting civilians as a fear tactic is standard terrorism. It might be domestic terrorism but it's still terrorism (although I honestly don't know how much of a strategy Hamas has since they threaten everything from Israelis to international flights coming into the country. It's really dumb).

I mean - it's dumb to expect warring parties to keep to artificial rules that serve no purpose with a view on winning or losing. The biggest terror attack(s) ever were dropping two a-bombs on Japanese cities with hundred thousands of civilian (and children) deaths in 1945. Since then EVERYONE has been a hostage - still is.

Btw I know what you mean, you don't need to bring up A-bombs. "Holding hostage" aside, I think any country that would use an A-bomb today would be immidiately turned against everyone else. Much more attention drawing then killing off a few orphans as side victims.
But it's honest to say, that none of these two sides is the primary causator. This area was governed by United Kingdom and they actually managed to promise it to both nations, in different periods. (And then refused to accept any of such formed states.)
The part of HAMAS are certainly terrorist, stripping the resources and money and even emergency supplements from EU just to fuel this conflict. Using their own citizens like a camouflage. It's like a wound which still bleeds. If they would stop hammering their own population Palestine would probably flourish and they could form the state and make the deal with Israel.
This situation is sad, as this conflict is far from the Palestine citizens, it's an influence war. Poor palestines are beaten from inside and additionally from at least two outsides enemies.
It's good to note, that Israel is not alone, it's having silent arabian allies, because largely this is not about Israel but it's internal arabian conflict.
In previous war Israeli won, this is another war with different parties.

They're not really "allies" it's just that a bunch of Muslim countries exclusively recognize Palestine and not Israel because it's such a hot button issue for so many people in the Muslim world. But, last year 4 more countries officially recognized Israel.
Some of this is just because people get old and die, and their fixations die with them, and new generations take their place that don't necessarily resonate so much with a particular issue, or they might resonate in a different way, like seeing Israeli settlements and Palestinian evictions as a form of apartheid.
