Really cool abilities on this creature. The disk variant seems like it could be super powerful with 1 stacks but I guess that's probably accounted for in balancing. I'm not sure how I feel about Sylvan not being the recognizable elf faction, given that Hive is replacing Inferno and we have a whole new faction already, but I'm sure it will be great! Super excited to play this game!

I really adore the Hoplets. They are so adorable. This is the perfect plush creature. *hint*
Fauns look good too, though looking at these two units Hoplets appear more like the T1 unit and the Faun T2. Odd that the Faun is T1 and Hoplet T2.
I think the name of the Faun Archer is awkward. It suggests it has become an Archer now with the upgrade, but the base unit is an Archer already too. I suggest to change the name to something less confusing, for example Faun Ranger, Faun Guard, Faun Sharpshooter, or something similar.

Agree that the Faun archer should be renamed to ranger or something like that. I'm a big fan of the alternate upgrade losing its ability to shoot in order to become a melee attacker. Reminds me of the scouts in heroes 5. So far Sylvan looks like it's gonna be a really fun faction to play!

I still assume that the axolotl creatures we've seen are Sylvan's tier 4, making tier 3 an Earth Elemental equivalent, tier 4 a Water Elemental equivalent, tier 6 an Air Elemental equivalent, and tier 7 a Fire Elemental equivalent. However, this guy being a birdman is throwing that lineup off.
There are birdmen in MM8, so I wonder if they're going to be represented as neutrals, only represented by heroes, or they are part of Sylvan and I'm completely wrong about the Aqualotls.

To tell the truth, I'd have expected axolotls to be fire-associated, given they are salamanders (who have a long history of a folkloric connection to fire, and gave name to a creature of the Plane of Fire in MM8) that got their name from a being of fire and lightning.

One of them is literally named "Polar Aqualotl", which to me sounds like a fancy name for Ice Elemental. Also, they're blue.

Hadn't seen the actual images - polar is definitely telling, even if blue isn't.

Interesting that the might hero is "Warden" rather than "Ranger." I think this is a first for Ranger not being the baseline might class for rampart/Sylvan since the H2 Sorceress town.

In Heroes 4, the base class for Preserve was called simply "Archer", while "Ranger" and "Warden" were advanced hero classes.
I think Warden is more interesting too.

Oh yeah, I forgot H4. I agree that Warden is more interesting and fits better from what we've seen of this version of the faction. I'm really digging the more eldritch feel that this installment seems to be going for. Hive minded insectoid demons, chaotic spirits instead of elves and dwarves, a whole faction that seems to be cosmic horrors buried in the ice. It's awesome and refreshing and I think it really plays to the strengths of the original universe.

The HP and Defense are definitely high, but it's an earth elemental so that's fitting. It also has incredibly low initiative and speed, so it will struggle to actually get into melee with any faction that has good shooting... which might ultimately make the Crystal upgrade the preferred one, since it doubles how quickly the creature can move up, even if it has less defensive tech for the rest of the army.
