By the way a lot of people seem to be staying neutral, i mean do your results reflect who you want to win or who you think will win.

Just looking at the few left i think brazil and Spain will probably play in the final (hope its korea- USA)

Yeah this WC has had quite a few big suprises. If anyone had said to me before World Cup that France wouldnt score one singel goal in whole tournament id say he was the dumbest human alive...

As for Argentina i wasnt as suprised as i was with france, Argentina was after all in "the group of death". A group where everyone could beat everyone, i think most ppl got swept away by their really impressing WC qualifyers. But lets face it, most south american teams in WC wouldnt have made it if they had to compete with european nations. Another big reason of their success was that Brazil had a really tough time then. They almost changed full starting eleven between some games and managers got sacked. What Brazil needs is concistensy, and they have gotten some to WC. Otherwise Brazil hasnt been as sparking as some predicted em to be, sure their first games were really good but can anyone honestly say that they impressed vs Belgium for example? I know i cant, for some moments in 2nd half nine of eleven players in the Brazilian team just walked around and just waited for the one that had the ball to do something with it. But a team like Brazil can never be underestimated, id say if they win their game against the english they will stand as WC champs when this tournament is over.

Italy is another big team that have booked their flight back home. But the Italian team hasnt really impressed, and they have been very unlucky. I really dont like Italy as a football nation but i must admit iam alittle sorry for them.

As for positive suprises who could possibly have missed USA? i think its great when the "smaller" football nations does something like this (Unless its Senegal when opps are Sweden ). It kinda reminds you that any team can win if its just their day, no matter how harsh it may be.

Ok, um, I am lost, is this football as in lemon-shaped brown ball, 'T' thingy at each end of field or round, black and white ball and game also known as "soccer" in America. Someone fill me in please.

Any way though, football/soccer Sucks!!! It absolutly stinks, but it is twice as good as the American football which really stinks... really really stinks.  I'm guessing this is football/soccer cuz most of you guys are from Europe

Quote:
ROME (Reuters) - Italian soccer club Perugia has cut its ties with South Korea's Ahn Jung-hwan after he scored the goal which knocked Italy out of the World Cup, Perugia's chairman has been quoted as saying.

"That gentleman will never set foot in Perugia again," Luciano Gaucci told sports' daily La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Italy has reacted with fury to Tuesday's shock 2-1 defeat to South Korea, accusing the referee and soccer's ruling body FIFA of fixing the match.

Ahn, who missed a penalty earlier in the match, was hailed as a national hero when he headed home the golden goal winner in the 116th minute.

But his goal was viewed in a different light at Perugia in central Italy, where he has been viewed as an under-achiever during his stay at the club.

"He was a phenomenon only when he played against Italy. I am a nationalist and I regard such behaviour not only as an affront to Italian pride but also an offence to a country which two years ago opened its doors to him," Gaucci was quoted as saying.

"I have no intention of paying a salary to someone who has ruined Italian soccer."

Ahn joined Perugia on loan from the South Korean team Pusan I.cons in the summer of 2000. He scored five goals in 29 appearances.

A Perugia spokesman said on Wednesday the club had virtually decided to release Ahn even before the World Cup tie.

Insane...now I'm even happier that Italy is out...

Hey guys, I thought it would be fun if we post our best and worst teams. I'm sure you have your favorites and opposites by now.

These are mine for group stage only...

Dream Team

GK - Brad Friedel ( United States )...it was either him or Kahn, but I took him as he had more job to do which he done really well

RB - Ulises de la Cruz ( Ecuador )...his team won only one game but I really like this guy, had numerous escapes on the right

DF - Rio Ferdinand ( England )...nothing much to say, simply the best player so far in the World Cup

DF - Christoph Metzelder ( Germany )/runner-up Sol Campbell ( England )...impressive with his performances in the back

LB - Roberto Carlos ( Brazil )...aahh, I couldn't remember anyone else for this position, maybe someone from Korea?

RW - David Beckham ( England )...little biased here but what the hell, loved his passes, class, skill, leadership,...

MF - Junichi Inamoto ( Japan )...he was driving force for his team in first two matches, too bad he slowed down later

MF - Anders Svensson ( Sweden )...biggest surprise in Sweden and one of World Cup, great skill

LW - El Hadji Diouf ( Senegal )...originaly attacker, but played mostly on this position, and offcourse was great

AT - Miroslav Klose ( Germany )...five goals in three matches, great scorer-doubt anyone seen him as a Golden Boot

AT - Ronaldo ( Brazil )/close runner-up Marc Wilmots ( Belgium )...he's back, not on the same level as before but enough to make him second striker in my Dream Team

Crap Team

GK - Mohammed Al Deayea ( Saudi Arabia )...it would be great injustice for fellow here if someone else got his spot

RB - Boris Zivkovic ( Croatia )...blah, good ridance

DF - Jorge Costa ( Portugal )...USA really confused him, he was awfull

DF - Marco Materazzi ( Italy )...Inter's player played lousy, both Croatia goals were his fault

LB - Roberto Carlos? ...hey sorry, but I just can't remember anyone great or bad for this position

RW - Ariel Ortega ( Argentina )...same as Rio in previous list...nothing much to say, simply the worst player in World Cup

MF - Robert Prosinecki ( Croatia )...in 45 minutes he showed he's old, slow and baaaad choice

MF - Luis Figo ( Portugal )...faulseeker, always crying to a referee, too bad he didn't showed anything more than that

LW - Claudio Lopez ( Argentina )...fast but this guy can play only under Cuper

AT - Thierry Henry ( France )...luckless and stupid ( red card )

AT - Davor Suker ( Croatia )...old, slow, powerless, sad end for previous Golden Boot, but hey there's Ivica Olic lurking!!!

And if you're willing, we could post at the end of World Cup best teams. I'm sure there'll be some official FIFA team of the tournament so we could compare it then...

Wow, the games go crazier and crazier.
After China is out, I can make more objective prediction.

England - Brazil home win 2:1
This is the game I don't want to guess coz I like Brazil much more than England. However, from info I get, Brazil will wear blue shirts instead of their golden suit. I've seen that blue is being cursed in this WC.

England will play defensive counter tactic and Brazil defender is too fragile (ya, Cafu + Carlos is the most offensive defender line-up but they make stupid mistakes sometimes). If Brazil can score early, it can win the game. Scholes may be the game decider. I hope I am wrong this time and hope the 3R strikers will do some wonder.

Germany - USA draw 1:1 and Germany wins by golden goal
USA has played very well in the past games and nobody (I guess ) has expected they can go so far. Thus they can play without too much mental pressure and so they can win against odds. However, this time they will face Germany, a team too strong for them to beat. Everybody will keep an eye on Klose, but don't forget Jancker's header which may determine the game. USA at least needs 2 goals in 90 mins to secure the win but Germany only needs 1 goal for that (at least they may think so). So that's why I make such a guess. The game with the highest chance to be a boring game.

Spain - South Korea home win 2:0
After the game between SK & Italy, I think FIFA will do something and the referee will not do much a favor to SK. Though I'm an Asian, I don't like the way SK won. Ya, Italy deserved the loss coz they play the safe way but I still don't like that. I want pure soccer games.

Anyway, Spain knows that they can't just make one goal and wait for the final whistle. Though there is rumour that Raul may not be able to play, Spain is not worried about its gunpowder. Well, defense is never the style for Spainish.

Senegal - Turkie away win 3:2
This is the most difficult game for me to guess coz I nearly know nothing about these two teams. On the one end you have the most entertaining team of this WC, Senegal seems to play without any mental stress. Look at their coach, I will vote him to be the most charming coach if I am a girl On the other end is the Turkey, a team with great determination to win. I think the team spirit and discipline of Turkey will win over the talent yet not well-organized Senegal.

Btw, the game may turn into a 1:0 tight game which Turkey wins and Hasan Sas will be man of the game.

Oh, I'm wrong.........

A fantastic game !!!
Brazil sinks England.
3R really do some wonder (well, maybe 2R

Brazilian defenders make mistakes as expected
but their talented forwards make up for it.
Good-bye England.

Except the wrong decision of judge (red cad for Ronaldino is not right ) and the disgusting Oscar actor Rivaldo, the game is cool. Brazilian show us their own style of "defense"

As someone here says:
GO OWEN GO HOME

Brazil was much better! Ronaldinho Gaúcho goal was great! Marcos(brazilian GK) didn´t do nothing in the game(except in some goal kicks).

About Rivaldo, he really should take some lessons for actor.

I am sorry that England is out, but Brasil deserved the win. They played perfect. England performed the Divine Comedy after Ronaldinho was booked out.

The refree was the worst thing on the field. Red to Ronaldinho was absolutely disgusting.

for England..... next time maybe
