I'm going to assume you're using dogs in your example for just that - an example.
I personaly convert hell hounds all the time. ALL the time, no mather what.

Especially on temps like panic and balance it can be a good idea to wait with converting gogs. Especially if you dont have mass haste for main battle and you are facing shooters it will be better to have magogs than demons.

Dogs
- always convert
Gog
- often convert. Don't convert if main hero has archery and there are dwells of gogs or second inferno town
Imps
- always convert
P.S. now thinking how can I kill 720 demons under command of Protos, most likely with >70 HP each any idea?
added: finally killed Marius 31/28/24/(130) - 840 demons with 88 HP each by Galthran 27/52/31/(280), i had 1700 skeletons with 18 HP each.

You always convert dogs?
Wtf...even if Cerberi are lower numbers they are still useful, just to block a shooter or whatever.

Normally, I can block shooters by Efreets.
I always need powerstack for taking tope early. Best way to get powerstack early is to convert dogs.

Thats a good point, i agree with you. Even the strongest powerstack of demons could be shoot like a stray dogs if it cannot ublock the opposite shooters fast.
Thats why expert haste is maybe more important for Inferno even than Stronghold.

About demon farming
After the map named "to kill for power" I saw how nice this really was.. hadn't used this tactic before anyway now I am writing a simple calculations which everyone will know easily if they want to farm demons sometimes
So one pitlord is able to rise 50hp:
"number of pitlords" x 50 = a
Maximum number of demons wich pit lords are able to resurrect would be a/35
And the hp of the dead stack of creatures:
"number of creatures" x "hp of one creature" = b
And the number of demons which you will get is b/35
The number of demons will be rolled down so if you calculate something like 48.85642... that means you will get 48 demons.
Sometimes you might think about losses and with losses I meant like using 10 pitlords to summon demons from 5000 dead stack imps. That is not really good deal.. But to avoid losses easily you only need to calculate (see above) and keep a>b
Good sacrifices are lvl1-3 monsters imo cause the number of demons can't be higher than the number of dead creatures. For example: if you sacrifice 10 azure dragons, you will get maximumly 10 demons
Also the heal artifacts which give +1 heal etc. ARE VERY USEFUL in demon farming, especially with low-hp creatures. For example:
1) You have 3000 imps without any heal artifacts. The heal of imp is 4. The numbers of demons would be:
3000 x 4 = 12 000
12 000/35 = 342.857... = 342 demons
2) Same situation but now you have ring of life (imp's hp will be 5 then):
3000 x 5 = 15 000
15 000/35 = 428.571... = 428 demons
3) Same situation but now you have elixir of life! (imp's hp will be 9):
3000 x 9 = 27 000
27 000/35 = 771.428... = 771 demons
As we can see the difference is quite big even without a ring of life
With a necro hero with necropolis and inferno you are able to rise both creatures so the combination of demons and skeletons, with them even 10 000 of azure dragons are not problem..

addition..
Well I forgot to say something it might be really rare to get a big stack of creatures in "traditional" maps (like all for one etc) and the money might be problem. But in user-made-maps (like lord war etc..) where the money is not problem and number of creatures are extremely big, demon farming is a big deal

please do not be offended by my noobiness
read through this thread, kind of confused
Angelito says 90% of games end within 1 month...
then a lot of ppl talk about getting huge numbers of demons...
my question: how?
in one month, you cannot get 3k imps...
what do you do to get the sacrifices for demon farming?

You buy every hero who has a convertable starting army.
You buy every convertable unit from every town you conquer. You may even build dwellings there instead of just tavern/townhall.
You buy every convertable unit from dwellings.
You convert every imp, every gog, every dog.
While doing this, don't forget to wear your "+health"-gear.
You will not get your 1000 demons, but it will be a huge stack.
And you won't miss the converted troops, since you get wyvern and angels from conservatories on top of your army.

Demon farming... LOL
You know, I'm not sure, I think demon farming really does have some major flaws, the thing is, the amount of time and effort it will take you to obtain 1000+ demons, and considering how much army the enemy can obtain in that time, the enemy would be able to wipe out those demons before they could get any damage in, sure you could say, 'fodder', but still think about how much money and effort you put into getting those demons, and does you getting hit guarantee you'll be able to hit the enemy back? no.

maretti, thank you for your link!Interesting battles, that I can learn something from.
Also noticed something strange for me-in one of the battles the player(maybe you)uses mass slow and mass haste in the same battle when the other player(who loses) doesnt use slow or haste to counter the effects!
I admit I never played online,so maybe I just have to read about what spells the players can use aginst each other!
Nice armies BTW!

'Finally, after months of demon farming, I have thousands of demons!'
*10 minutes later*
'How long does his turn take? I'm dying to try out my demons power! is he even still he-'
DUUUUUUUN DUUUUUUUUN DUUN-DUUUUUUUN DUUUUUUUUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN-WA
"Ahaha! bad mo- WHAT THE HELL HOW DID YOU GET SO MANY SKELETONS!"
"LOL, spell specialist, really?"
*Xarfax uses fireball*
"WHAT! XARFAX YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD WITH FIREBALL YOU BLOODY IDIOT!"
*Xarfax moves his Archdevils infront of Isra's skeletons*
"LOL!"
"THE SWORD WAS ON THE SCREEN!"
*Xarfax attacks Isra's skeletons with his efreet sultans*
*Skeletons retaliate*
"WHAAAAAT!"
*Isra uses implosion*
"LOL, demon plowing"
*Xarfax frantically clicks himself desperately trying to use another spell*
"SHUT UP, JUST SHUT UP!"
*Isra attacks Xarfax's Arch devils with his dread knights, they inflict double damage and curse them*
"WTF!"
*Isra's vampire lords finish off Xarfax's arch devils and recover health lost from Xarfax's fireball*
"OK, screw this, cya"
"Don't be a wimp, come on, we've been waiting ages for this fight"
"WIMP!? your playing necropolis against inferno and you're calling me a wimp?"
"Thanks for wasting my time"
"I don't care, cya, hope you die"
*Shackles of war stop you from retreating or surrendering*
"Leave then"
"I don't want to"
"You said you did"
"I changed my mind, lets finish the fight"
"Glad you see things my way"
*And so they did, in the end xarfax put up a brilliant fight, and managed to largely damage Isra's forces, the fight is now coming to an end, Xarfax has efreet sultans, and Isra has skeletons and zombies*
*Xarfax moves his efreet sultans as far away from Isra's army as he can*
"Stop wasting time"
"I'm not, this is my strategy"
"Don't be a sore loser, just admit you've lost"
"I haven't, you've lost"
*After a long 10 minutes, Isra kept trying to fool Xarfax into slipping up, but this was difficult as Xarfax was proving to be surprisingly good at running away*
"What's the point?"
*Efreet sulstans get morale*
"Whatever, I'm going, bye"
"AHAHAHAHA, I WIN!"
"It's sad that you can't accept defeat, goodbye"
*Shackles of war stop you from retreating or surrendering*
"Huh? LMAO!"
*Xarfax quickly attacks Isra's skeletons, they retaliate and give the finishing blow*
*Feeling embarrassed and defeated, Xarfax would flee to the forums where he would make a thread telling all his chums about his recent 'victory'*
Heroes Community > Library of Enlightenment > Thread: I WON AHAHAHAHA!
Aculias: SO I JUST DID THIS GAME AGAINST THIS NOOB WHERE I MADE LOTS OF DEMONS AND HE SAID BEFORE THE GAME NECROMANCY IS ALWAYS BETTER AND HE WOULD BEAT ME BUT IN THE END FIGHT I WON AND LOST NOTHING THEN TOOK HIS BASE HE KEPT SENDING ME MESSAGES CRYING HOW I AM NOOB AND HE WANTED REMATCH AHAHAHAHAH!!!!
Fauch: Well done, but please don't shout.
Salamandre: So? not sure if it was you but I've seen a thread like this before, If winning is that much of a big deal to you, then I doubt you do much of it.
Maretti: Why do I get the feeling he lost.
Angelito: You're lying, infact I have saved games and screenshots of me winning, you were carrying dwarfes and golems on your scout which you also left half of your artifacts on, you didn't even consider exploring outside of your base until month 2, and you allowed me to control pretty much the whole map.
You've made this thread about 4 times, now I understand why, do NOT make 'victory' threads again or you will be BANNED.
Aculias: I WAS GOING TO THE ALTAR OF SACRIFICE
NoobX: Couldn't help but laugh, sorry.
Ohforfsake: LOL!
Solitaire345: Pretty funny.
Zenofex: Oh dear, Aculias, oh dear oh dear oh dear.
Ghost: What the a fool, liar!!
WonderHenn: Where am I
