what kind of stuff do u post in this forum because the description of "have some ale, tell us ur story" isnt very good to me. i see a lot of stuff in here and it doesnt seem to be of 1 particular type so could a mod clarify this up.

The tavern is for fun threads.
If you receive a funny e-mail, have a funny observation on life, or want to start a fun game then this is the forum to post in.
Examples of the first 3 can be found in Leos House Of Fun where our member Leo Lion has compiled a large thread full of humorous jokes and pictures.
Moments of Embarrassment by guitarguy speaks for itself - it's where you relate stuff that embarassed you to laugh it off with other members of the community.
Tell the False truth is a parody of another game in Tavern where members ask each other questions and you have to answer by telling the most whopping, unrealistic but believable lie possible.
Of course the best way to start is to just to get posting. My advice for new members is not to start new threads until you've had a look through the lower pages of each forum, then you can see if there's already been a thread about your topic or not.

QP applied to Leo for doing 7 new member spotlights! Thank you very much Leo!
I have to apologize for not doing more myself, but lately some RL teoubles have been keeping me from posting. Hopefully that's all going to be fine now, and things will be back as normal soon.
I am still here several times a day to check in with IM and see how the forums are going though, so if anyone has had any concerns still feel free to contact me I've not been gone!

Question:
why are the QP's usually only given to the thread starters?
I looked up some threads now.. and firstly, that TT only has 6 QP's in 1800+ posts is a joke. There are plenty of great posts there. The current QP rate there is 0,33%. sucks.
And even worse, the WANTED game thread has had several top post class contributions from its members. Just having a me QP in that thread is without any reason. You can tell that several of the contentants has spent a loong time on their posts, and the results have been great. That should be rewarded.
QP's should be given out from good posts as the FAQ says, not one QP given for the idea and then no more IMO.

I meant off course that the result of the long time should be rewarded. And as for example in the WANTED game thread the results in many posts are great.
Boring long rants should off course not be rewarded, you must look at the result.

Based on his resurgence at HC and the success of his Mystery Games (#1 & #2), I think that Dodd should be looking at a QP, if his commitment to his Threads stays strong.
They are fun, well managed, interesting, and open to everyone. He even gave away some prizes during the first installment of his Mystery Game! 
That's got to be worth something...

foo bums.
Although it is nice too see some posts there being credited you cant help wondering why some posts doesnt.
Ive tried not too comment the posts more direct as im trying to have an impartial stand to the game in general even if i dont talk to emma about it.
But for example the presentation post of leo is awesome. One of the best laughs the game has brought so far. To have it non rewarded seems like a joke.
Same with TT, it bothers me to see other threads who is IMO of "lesser quality" have lots of QP's whilst TT only have 6. Yet many of the posts there has been of the known funniest posters such as lich_king.

I was sort of surprised not to get a QP myself, somewhere in there...BUT, I also understand that Asmodean probably has his reasons for not giving me one.
He might be planning to reward me after the round of poems is over or he might be planning to reward me once the game is done...as long as I get rewarded somewhere, sometime, I'll be happy!
Seriously though, he might not have rewarded me for other reasons that I simply can't think of...So, I'll be patient, I'll see what happens, and I'll try to make my next Posts even better!
That's if Emma keeps me around!

first.. nice to see more deserved stars handed out even if i still think leo should get one for his presentation.
Second.. looking over for TT for good posts will not happend? Can see why though as pandora dont wanna be partial and the other two is either often made fun of there or not here at all still i think its a shame, because now when QP amount is showing i bet many new members value the threads based on nr of QPs. And when they see a 1850posts thread and just 6 ridicioulus stars they will never bother to look into the thread.
And thereby missing an IMO very essential part in HC/tavern history.
And now to the topic matter.. first i wanna say that im no mood for fighting/arguing. The boring fight now moved to VW has made me lose my toss touch for the night. So these suggestions are made rather as i see it as an improvement than to point out incompetence.
IMO and in my experience as a moderator you also have a role not only as "controlling" but also to motivate. To make up topics and to get interesting threads going.. and keeping them alive.
And this 2 mods here has been doing a good job at earlier. But now you very very seldom see mods participate in threads which is a shame as HC tavern today is rather fun to be honest. There are funny threads for everyone im sure.
And IMO there has been 2 members doing a great job here during the past few months to make things interesting again.
One of em is svarog. He keeps alot of threads going on his own and he sparks discussions that people wanna take a part of. This also makes him more suited for other side part primarily IMO.
But im sure he will do a good job. Svarog is an important and influental member of this community, not trying to benefit more from it is all of ours loss.
Second one is Leo. Is not as creative as svarog, but his ambition and his ways to keep threads alive (couldnt find the right word ) is what makes him unique. And important.
Just look what he did to member spotlights and the MYT game in tavern. If he had taken over my HC olympics instead of RSF im sure it would be one of the most popular threads around aswell.
Now i know these qualities doesnt make em perfect mods as there are things as member treatment, equality.. and regular boring modding (removal/closing of old threads etc) aswell but i believe these two has atleast deserved a chance.
Point is, both of em has unique qualities and i believe that both together with a 3rd already existing moderator here would do great. Seems like a great mix.
For other side svarog can partner up with someone more. Leo would make a good addition to VW squad.
This will also reduce the number of things our current mods have to do... which will lead hopefully to them being a part of creating/sparking/and keeping alive discussions aswell.
That way we all can benefit more from both new and existing moderators.
So i think this is a great idea.
oh and btw, reason i take it up here and not in tribunal is because there i never get any responses
Here this will hopefully atleast spark a discussion.

Okay, it's 6am and I've been cramming for an exam - but I'll take the time to address some of your points.
I haven't been as visible in the last month or so because I've hit exam season in university and that's my number one priority. I still visit the boards and read the threads each day, but do not have the time luxury to post in everyone I'd like to.
That will change in 2 weeks when my exams end and I'll return to normal posting habits.
Regarding TT. What you have to remember is that when I read through all those posts, I'm reading conversations between old members that I had minimal contact with before they retired from the community. And a lot of the comments were in-jokes at the time that I don't really get. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to give QP's for something like that. This is not the first time I've tried to explain this either, and I once asked for your help in pointing out what you saw as TT's better posts - to which I received a 'I can't be bothered' type of reply.
In this case I'm asking for your help if you want to see it happen. I don't think my explanation is unreasonable.
I was reviewing Leo's post and...there seems to be a shiny red graphic above it. Funny, I swear it wasn't there yesterday (Wasn't me that put it there though)
About ModSquad restructuring.
Not much I can comment on here, I think both those guys mentioned would do well as Mods, but they have to apply and then be approved by Val so Tribunal really is the best place to say this.
Sorry if I missed a point, am sure you'll let me know if I have.

Look, i dont blame you in anyway from prioritizing other things lol. But as things are right now i think my idea is great. And i think it will be even when you are more active aswell.
As for TT i think its an insult to have me look over it. Because my experience from this tells me that this is basically meaning "show me a few posts and ill might reward a couple to shut you up". And besides im not the moderator of the two of us so i think its primarily your job to look up those things.
I dont see the point in me maybe recommending 20 posts only for you too decide they are most just crap. Because that means double work for both of us. The harsh truth is it is up to you to check the threads, and i hope you agree with me when i say that 6 QP's is a ridicioulus amount of stars for that thread.
As for the restructuring, i wanted to see if i could get a discussion going about it here first. My experience also tells me that bringing something up in tribunal often leads to a maximum of 2-3 replies in "serious" questions.
So i thought the rest of the members should speak their minds here aswell.
Now, was that kind and diplomatic enough for you?

I found it strange when I posted my Sir_Stiven impression in Tavern I did not get a star (was not expecting any, btw) and then when I posted it as a MYT entry, I received a star for the same identical post. I just found it strange as I had posted that post in TT a long time before using it in the MYT game.
Also, since I'm always ready to help, would it help out any if I dug up what I thought where good posts in TT?

I've always thought that QP's should come naturally... forced if none was given overall.. but some is given, so why the "Lets search this thread for stuff we cooooouuuuld.. give a qp for!"

Sir_Stiven was exactly right about my not awarding QP in Tosser's Tavern, it is simply because I have been an active poster there for years, and many people expected that once I was a mod I would right away start giving QP to my "favorites". Tosser's Tavern has been the thread dearest to my heart on HC for ages, and it's not been a huge secret.
Looking at it now though, I think that I am worrying to much about how my actions might look to others- rather than doing the best I should be doing as a mod here.
Not only have I not awarded enough QP for TT, but I also have tried to avoid giving QP to the new Canucks after recieving a few "you favor them because they are canadian e-mails". I've just left those posts for Asmodean to avoid any backlash - again, I shouldn't do that. I did explain this to those guys before, but still I think I should correct it.
With regards to the fact that I haven't been posting as actively lately, its because my son has had some troubles at school that have taken priority, I'm not apologizing here - because obviously my children will always be top my priority. But in case anyone thought that my interest in Hc has waned, or that I am not around anymore that's really not the case. I have been here with the mod-hat daily, just not able to be as active as a member. Hopefully very soon that changes
As for my lack of replies to Tribunal posts lately, its been simply because I felt my involvement would degrade the thread to a personal arguement and I don't feel that benefits anyone. I think some good points have been raised by Sir_Stiven, especially some recent in Tribunal, as well as these here, and would like to see other people's views.
Also, in regards to new moderators, that has been discussed. Along with Leo and Svarog, Conan is also another that I think deserves mention. He may not be as outspoken as his "bum-looker" counterpart () but Conan has been absolutely great with helping me out behind the scenes on while i've been occupied with family, and I just wanted to say I've really appreciated that
I would like to say though, that it's a great thing to see the way members have been stepping up to improve the community and keep activity going - especially now that we have something to hope for with Heroes 5, it seems like this place may soon be rockin' once again

I don't know why I never mentionned this before, but I think that Conan should get a QP for managing the n00b tournament(s) Thread.
He has created great graphs and updated them every time that someone has reported a win/loss or even when players joined/quit. As Pandora said, his efforts have not gone unnoticed and so, I think that he should be rewarded for them!
