I can, actually just played my last game like that.

but even with biospheres it's not much use since the cap comes quite fast anyways on most planets.

I usually do Hydropinic Farm first (Biospheres with Silicoid, Klackon, Trilarian and Sakkra), then right towards factories, then the Deuterium Fuel Cells (I skip this if the planets are closely together), and only then Research Lab (and from that moment on Tech that boost research are priority nr 1). I'm someone who prioritizes Reconnaissance to anything else. Knowing what is where, where you enemies are, and where the are not is extremely imporitant (if Custom I nearly always pick Omniscient). I expand, before researching.

I know this is a bad tactice, but I usually find myself outflanked by a Sakkra/Trilarian/Silicoid/Klackon neighbour if I act otherwise.

So far it is nice and my spy strategy is working..... And i got luck because of charismatic i got a Leader, Tanus the Revolutionary.... and he broth me an discover Confederation So it is time to produce ships with 66% disscount. I just can't wait to get my hands on those RoboMiners

Depends on what you are up against.  Heavily armored can resist pd weapons.  So it depends on what missiles and what pd weapon you have.

I wass thinking to use in late game massive amount of Pd Laser Beams...... I am just thinking what is better then 8 Space Anti Missile Rocket alternative...

Of course there is your targeting system and accuracy The rocket has set 85%( -5% per move) so theoretically when you have high Attack and cheaper in space Pd weapons you shuold use them....

And the battle report is this: Gnolam is almost down one turn and i will be bombed away for good. Bulrathy and Mrrshann are passive for now.... I am at higher tech level form overall perspective then Psilons, thanks to the all research and trade treaties i have RP and BC situation stabilised. the spying isn't that good as i thought it would be but it gives me nice prizes like Gravity Generator form Humans(how nice of them

Klackons seems occupied with something because even with their high productivity the do not expand so well... Humans are at war with me because of their high honur..... Alkary are my allies they seem to be slow  thinkg pacifists and thats good for any alliance. (why when they offer alliance i smell that in next couple of turns they will wage war on some one...)

My plans are the war with the Klackons and then the Psilons.... With the sweet just sweet mind control i want capture as many klackon colonist and ude their +1 food and +2 industry The last ingredient is Psilons with their +2 Research and ihave masters and slave situation. Just like it should be in Feudal Life..

I just wonder what to do with my colonist when i have beter replacement for all their jobs....

You know all thanks to Charismatic and Telephatic picks..... (it boost you diplomatic and spy status), and of course auto save When something goes wrong you can reload and reaarange the spys

It suppose to be this way because it is the only and most effective way for feudals to learn something, by stealing...

Did i mentioned that i love Mind Control... you don't need any troop transports, no special technologies for improvment of ground combat power...

Antarians have become rather easy to beat, now just wish I could say the same about the rest of the galaxy.  As I mentioned before, even when I play charismatic the Antarians seem to love attacking my worlds.  Every once in awhile they even destroy one or two (my fleet is off somewhere else taking care of business ).

When I do send them packing, they tend to take it personal and up the frequency of attacks..with better and better ships.  I've pretty much got their number, however.  I keep my ships with the top of the line tech by refitting them, scrapping smaller ships when the bigger ones can be built.  I keep my 'command' points used to maximum at all times (if possible).  If I have 27 points of command, I have enough ships to use up all of it for instance.  Also I always have at least one of the largest ships possible (more weapons, harder to destroy, etc) with my best ship officer on it.

Gravitron Beams seem to be the most effective until you get stasis.  Shield regen helps a lot, as does automatic damage control.  If possible you want to do a very hasty refit on all your ships the second you see them coming.  Not always possible, but when they attack your home system you can usually slaughter them .

As soon as you build a dimension gate, start refitting.   Make sure to make quite a few smaller ships with the stasis, and as many heavy hitters as you can.  Stasis all of them, then concentrate on the starbase (but make sure you keep the others targeted with your small ships' stasis).  Take em down one at a time and they are cake.

1 Frigate Scout
3 Destroyers armed with IonBeam (nice internla system destroyer)
6 Cruisers -> 4 with Pulson Miss., Gaviton, Neutron, Anti miss, Rock, Warp Dissipator; 2 -> 2x interceptor and Anti Missle
11 Battleships -> 3 with 4 Interceptors, 1 With Beams Weapons, the rest Pulson, Graviton, Neutron weapons


Yes I try to keep them up to date, but i tend to wait for refiting where there are some crucial changes or new weapons, more free space. when i fall into fast researching streak when i have 1 new advancment every 2-3 turns then i tend to wait with refifting and don't waste precious production turns.

Oh I don't refit every upgrade.  Mainly if I have time to when Antarians attack, or especially if I reach the 'end' of a tech tree.  (IE Class X shields).

Ah it looks like you have an older version of the game.  The latest version of this game is 1.31

I NEVER choose LITHOVORE anymore.  There are a few reasons for this with the highest being that you cannot then choose Cybernetic which RULES.  Also it's annoying but if you do choose Lithovore you are NOT able to lower the food production to recover some of those points which really sucks.  I mean it really should be automatically done.

My usual picks are:
Cybernetic
Tolerant
Subterranean for Small-L and  +2 Production if Huge Galaxy to expand faster

- Repulsive (since on Impossible diplomacy does not help much)
- 10% Ground Combat
- 20% Ship Attack


I usually begin games in the following way
- Electronic Computer
- Research Labs
- Reinforced Hull
- Automated Factories
- Nuclear Fission (all 3) Freighters
- Chemistry (all 4) Basic Armor
- Cold Fusion (all 3) Colony Ships
- Hydroponic Farms
- Physics (all 3)
- Fusion Rifle
- Battle Scanner
- Battle Pods
- Tritanium Armor

At this point I usually build 1-3 ships depending on enemies and they will have the following. Sometimes I need a Cruiser Quickly and will make one sooner then refit it ounce I get these.

Laser Cannons, Heavy Mount/Normal/Point Defense all with Armor Piercing and AutoFire. Cruisers will have 3 of each Battle Ship 6/6/8.
Battle Pods
Battle Scanner

EDIT:  If a lot of races nearby have high defense bonus I will add Continuous to the beams in addition to the above.  Cruisers then have only 2 Heavy mounted and Battle ships have 5 each Heavy nomral and point def.

Next steps of research:

- Neural Scanner
- Planetary Super Comp
- Space Port
- Robo Miners
- Mass Drivers
- Inertial Stabalizers
- Class 3 Shields
- Stealth Suit

At this point I upgrade my Fleet to have Mass Drivers Armor Piercing and Auto Fire.

Reaserch:

- Cyber Security Link
- Soil Enrichment (Or Cloning if I can steal this)
- Telepathic Training
- Neutron Blaster ( I may equip ships with a few of these normal mounted to capture enemy ships to scrap for $$$ and tech in addition so that ounce I imobilize with my Armor Piercing weapons I can capture them easy usually for Ship Drives, Computers, Zortium Armor)
- Planetary Gravity Generators (to help out those nice Ultra Rich and HG planets you find on occasion)

Most of the rest after this varies depending on what I believe I can steal.  But I always make sure I get Structural Analyzers and Phasors (Then Rifle and Disrupter Canon so that my Phasors can be Shield Piercing + Autofire).  Then update my Fleet

Typical Battle Ship at this point would look like

5 Phasors     HV,SP,AF
5 Phasors     SP,AF
5 Phasors     PD,SP,AF

Battle Pods
Battle Scanner
Inertial Stabalizer
Structural Analyzer

Class 3 Shields
Electronic Computer (usually manage to have stolen better by now)
Tritanium Armor (Usually stolen Zortium Armor by now as well)

Any Cruisers I still have would be same but for 3/3/3 for Phasors.

My Ships regularly take on 5 of my Enemies Battle Ships and emerge unscathed at this point as well.  I remember when I had 3 of my Battle ships take on an enemy fleet of 1 and a half rows and never even came close to taking out one of mine.  BTW THEY attacked me to

Also at this point usually around 6 of my guys can take out the Guardian or Orion to.

My ships usually don't get upgraded at this point until Orion or I get Achilles Targetting Unit.  And quite a while later if I bother then I also get High Energy Focus/Mega Fluxers and Hyper X-Capacitors.  Also perhaps Inertial Nullifiers to Replace Stabalizers.

I forgot to add Race choice info.

 My top 3 favorite choices for Race are (For looks and ship name etc)  Mrrshan, Psilon and Silicoid.

 The Races I most hate to come up AGAINST are Psilon because of their Creative picks it's really annoying how many things like Missile Bases they build as well as getting Heavy Armor to negate my Shield Piercings and Darklok due to that annoying +20% spying initially.

 Also I dislike how on impossible computer never actually suffers from getting Feudal.  They always manage to somehow have either better or on par tech than you almost all the time till late game.

 Also comp never seems to have to choose between expansion, Fleet/Ship Building or Research.  They usually go at all 3 as if they were focusing.

Hell! One of the best games ever!

I play on easy-moderate difficulty (yeah, I sometimes lost even on these) in a huge galaxy against 3-4 AI + random events, Antarans...
I always pick custom race, base of Elerian and give them:
+1 research
+1 production
feudal

The rest is up to my mood...

Then I starting always with (just the main steps):
Hydroponic farms
Research lab
Automated factories
Neutron blaster
Soil enrichment
Class 3 shield

Then it's up to the actions of AI and the random events how I continue researching techs.

And I tend to keep my fleet up-to-date whenever a new shield or weapon is available (except phasor)...
The best weapon system is the Disrupters IMO. Combined with missiles or aircraft it made a real fearsome vessel of war.
And I capture enemy ships only if they have tech in use what I haven't. Stripping their captured vessels gave the tech for you (90% sure as I experienced). And always try to capture the Orion first as it gives some trully fearsome techs and a fairly good battleship...

About fleets...
Usually use battleships and titans, doomstars are really rare sight in my fleets.
And as usually pick up telepathic spec during customisation I don't build transport ships.

Colonisation is slow for me as I try to colonise every habitable planet of a system so I build clony bases instead of ships. At early game I try to find:
terran worlds
gaia worlds
rich or very rich worlds

That's how I play
