A might hero is a hero with att/def and good magic(why not?).i always have expert earth and slow/shield/skin,but it is also good having dmg spells. Most games are 3,4 weeks and so ull have about
7 lvl7 and dmg magic can easyly kill them.Ex.i was playing a game not long ago and i was castle with 2 Angel dwells(scary isnt it)and my opponent was rampart with Aislinn.guess what,we had about 5 battles played over and over, and i think i barely won.his meteor shower killed about 2,3 AA at ones, not counting that it sometimes hit 2 units.

aaaaaggrrhh!! Fortress iss boouuring? aaarrgghhh - i'll send you a pack of Wyverns right now!!

anyway - i always mess up with Tower. The build order is even worst than that of Castle! The heroes are plain bad and also the creatures up until the 2 nagas - the first week is a nightmare. Later on it's a race to get a nice hero and resources for upgrading the nagas and giants - there is no lay back and watch 5 hydras killing dragons in a topia, or 30+ cows killing 3 Azure Dragons for +2 speed cape and a box : )

Bendikbv and Darmo - upgrade your Pit Lords day 1.2.2. Enter in battle and kill all your imps. With Pit lords point to the corpse of the dead imps. Voala!

Repeat in several battles with all useless creatures. Including from the other towns.

Then sofisticate the art of demon farming and discover the enourmous power of Inferno.

Personally I prefer to wait with transforming the imps for 2 resons.

1. I might find a health art later on which will benefit most with low healt creatures.

2. The AI has imps as one of its highest priorities. So bringing imps into a tough battle like a tope will take the heat of your Pits which is another high priority target. And you dont want the AI to attack your pits.

Inferno, Stronghold, and Tower all feel very awkward to me.

Stronghold's units have no variety at all. They all look and feel the same and it gets extremely boring, quick. Three level mage guild is not very attractive either.

Tower has too much of an emphasis on the ranged attack for me. I enjoy the strategy that a large number of walkers brings. The only walker Tower has that really shines is the Naga.

Inferno I hate just because the town screen is cluttered worse than my closet, making it next to impossible to memorize where stuff it. I don't want to play a town that forces me to actively search for the buildings. e_e Necropolis and Conflux are guilty of this as well, but not nearly as much as Inferno.

Darmo, please take a second to think before you act. What a stupid statement is this? I'll try to repeat slowly what Liophy said:

Get the upgrade for your Pit Lords and use them as 'necromancers' to turn all unneeded units you have into a power-stack of demons.

If you can't do that without loosing your Pit Lords you better go play Heroes 5.

Don't be so critical. It's not an easy task for new damon farmer
You should have a lot of experience to succeed. One bad predict and in tope you can lose all your pits and imps or if you have not controlled ballista 1 imp could remain alive. All should be trained.
P.S. Dislike Inferno.

In a topi the dragons like to strike at groups that will not strike back, at archers, at groups they can hurt without getting hurt back. So have some lesser groups of say 2 x 15 gogs. In topia you don't go to raise demons - you go to get resources.
Disliking a town is ok, i don't love inferno myself, but i see it as a strong town. Demon farming and the stack of demons = your stack of pit lords that you can resurrect in every battle and use to steal retaliations ... well it gets you far.

p.s. sorry for being rude

I am a player that pretty much uses magic and might equally. I am able to play with Stronghold, but what I prefer above all is Inferno.
Demon farming is really great.

I'm very uncomfortable with Tower, cuz most of its units are useless.
Gremlins, well good to use for bait.
Gargoyles, weak, low dmg, useless.
Golems - snails...
Magi - 1 useful creature
Genies - if i could choose what spell i can cast with it, then it could be good. low hp, weak overall.
Nagas - 2nd useful creature. Does execellent damage.. expensive tho.
Giants - not so usefull until the upgrade.
The biggest flaw of tower for me is that it's very expensive.

Another uncomfortable faction for me is Fortress. I simply don't know much tactics about it. And I don't need to know, fortress units are mostly slow save for the dragon fly, usually the combat is started by the opponent, tactic phase (I usually have that skill) - mass slow, and the opponents army will be crippled by the end of round 1.

Gremlins are not bite, just because they must become master gremlims ASAP.

And with huge numbers they can be pretty usefull against map. Remember, that there are always 1-2 or even more dwellings for gremlins.

You cant control the magics of Master Genies, but if you put 3 or more Master Genies, in 2 rounds you cast 6-8 spells, and its almost sure you can make super-force of your Master Gremlins.

About Fortres - yes, the units are slow. Thats why the have such big defence. And the power of fortress are the specials of the units: espetialy the multiple atack of the hydras. If you master it, you can do wonders.

And fighting few Azure/Cristal Dragons as Zone Guards, could become a walk in the park with Fortress.

I dont see whats stupid about this statement. The man is right. Its seen before that dragons attack the pits instead of the imps.

"Maretti - the guys havent even heard about damon farming. Dont throw them into the deep sea."

Anybody can read my advise. These 2 guys might also benefit from it at some point.

"In a topi the dragons like to strike at groups that will not strike back"

This is only half the truth. Apart from what you mention they have prefered targets. Pit lords and naga queens are among them.

"So have some lesser groups of say 2 x 15 gogs. In topia you don't go to raise demons - you go to get resources."

That will lose you 11 demons doing that. If possible you might aswell raise demons and get the arts and money.

"And I don't need to know, fortress units are mostly slow save for the dragon fly, usually the combat is started by the opponent, tactic phase (I usually have that skill) - mass slow, and the opponents army will be crippled by the end of round 1. "

Both players will go for tactics when fortress is involved and massslow only wont do you much good if the opponent has mass haste. Mass haste is key for fortress and will give you a very powerfull attack.

LOL!

*sigh*

I do miss the banter of HoMM3, even after all these years!

I still find that I shy away from using Conflux, despite having lost many games to the infernal Phoenix. A well equipped magic hero with 2 or (gasp!) 3 properly sorted Conflux towns is a literal nightmare to defeat on an L or XL map. Throw in a few speed artifacts and you have a tough battle on your hands.

But sadly I have reliance issues with lvl 1-3 creatures early in the game and pixies tend to crumble in tight battles during week 1, leaving me in a weakened position week 2 which then compounds my Conflux problems. By the time I have assembled a reasonably competitive main or two, I find that I have missed the boat and I'm already miles behind the competition!

My other discomfort is... oh I think maybe Fortress? Lizards are a weak shooter, gnolls are not much better and Chaos Hydras are too easily killed for my liking. I have not developed a solid strategy for Fortress yet, perhaps it's time I tried....
