But if they're not in the job market, they're not considered unemployed. And the people you described wouldn't be in the job market.

Defintion of unemployment
Quote: Unemployment occurs when a person is available to work and currently seeking work, but the person is without work.

It may have been written by an American, but the definition of unemployment is the same everywhere. Besides, I bet a bunch of non-Americans have seen that definition and have not said anything about it.

By the way, unemployment happens because people are not needed (most times, in their town area, obviously), that doesn't mean they don't do anything. (for example, a guy who worked in a factory, is unemployed cos let's say, he got replaced by a machine or something like that). And we all know that 80% of manual labor people don't do it because they like what they do, but because they don't want to starve (aka slaving off ). Skama on the other hand, encourages hobbies (and thus people are much better at it, since they do it out of passion or that they like it, not that they are forced to do it cause they don't wanna starve)

In Mvassland, when people are replaced by a machine or if their job is outsourced, there are extensive retraining and education programs to get them a new job. And there's no minimum wage, either, so they could ask for lower wages. So there must be something else.

Doubt they can beat a machine that doesn't even sleep
Who cares that they go through all sorts of 'rehabilitation' or whatever? They can't find jobs, because in a capitalistic system, you either OWN A LOT of stuff and live in paradise, or are screwed up. Funny thing is that only a few percentage can "own" stuff, the majority of hard-working workers don't and become unemployed easily.

They could work in addition to the machine. Just because there's a machine doing their job doesn't mean that they can't do it as well, for lower wages, of course.

lol, just lol
I assure you that my parents and my friends' parents don't "own a lot of stuff", but they're hardly screwed up.

ok but then, they shouldn't come crying or frustrated cause the employer fired them without giving reason, right?
by screwed up, I meant that your life (and your future) is unpredictable and at the hands of someone else. Either that or asking for lower wages, which SCREWS your life, believe it or not. (at least compared to the one who "owns" stuff )

No, they shouldn't, and they don't.

My dad is self-employed (but wasn't always self-employed). A friend's dad is kind of self-employed. Another friend's parents are employed, and don't complain about being worried about getting fired.

Hmm again you confuse me. How can someone be self-employed and get "fired" against his will? Makes no sense to me.

It's true that they can't get fired, but they may not be able to find customers - and that would result in the same thing.

Edit: So Mvassreich is one of the most popular tourist destinations. What, do tourists come to see Mvassreichers be oppressed?
