Best Sixth Level Creature...

Which of the Sixth do you find appealing?

I like the Dread Knight.  The death blow is a great effect and the Knights are a very versitile 6th.  They are perfect for a combo with the ghost dragons(halving all the enemy units' hps then cleaning up with a double damage death blow = many skelletons in you army)

Well, I say Naga Queens are better beacuse they do not take a retaliation, and they deal 30 damage.  And another thing.  These could have been one thread, you know.  But you're in the Guild of Redundancy Guild.

I got not much to say about lv6. Already discussed a lot.

Best: Dread knight, naga queen

Great: Efreet Sultan

Good: Champion, magic elemental

Average: War unicorn, Cyclop king (if u can get it), scorpicore

Poor: wyvern

Lv6 is the lv with many interesting looking creatures.

Normally I'd say Dread Knight or Crusador, but I'll have to go with . . .

Cyclops!!!

C'mon, this guy does decent damage, and is excellent in siege attacks.  He really balances the Stronghold out.  Well, I'll guess I'll just be the odd man out!

"Poor" or not poor, the best creature not only from level 6 but in the whole game is the WYVERN... That is my humble opinion (and maybe nobody will agree).

best lev 6 easily...

Dread Knights are easily the best...argue as you will.

great speed, great range, great hp, DOUBLE DAMAGE and curse...they almost rival 7th level creatures (although not in even numbers )

sure, Naga Queens get no retaliation, but they never get the first shot...but what else do they do? No double damage for sure.

Efreets are nice because they're fast, but other than that, nothing spectacular.

And I'll take Unicorns or Cyclops over Champions or Serpicores...Champions are just lame, D Knight wannabes and the only redeeming quality of the Serps are the paralyzation.

The wyverns are horrible...they're worse than their own towns' 5th level MightyMoos...they're worse than the Lev4 Vampire Lords (among others)

Good News for Wyvern

I say that Wyverns are not the worst creature in level 6, but not the best in the game by a loooooong shot(they can easily beat a cyclops, one on one, and have a good chance against and efreet, manticore (which could be beaten by a Minotaur King Sometimes) and a unicorn.
It doesn't matter about all the stats, only some. If you have 1 higher attack skill, but the other one does more damage, in a one on one, the one who does more damage would win.
But Wyverns aren't that bad, since they have that poisoning technique.

Pros and cons

Dread Knights are nasty, but they have one bad problem. They have no chance to get more than one attack. Of course, they have no chance to lose an attack through poor morale either.

Cyclops Kings are great shooters, and can be very helpful in a seige. Unfortunately, most players go for the Behemoths first, so it's difficult to see the advantages of Ol' One-eye, as you seldom have enough of them to make a real impact.

Champions in numbers can be devastating with Prayer or Haste cast on them and full advantage taken of the jousting bonus. But again, the gold and resources usually gets funneled into the 7th level troop. Champions do have the unique advantage that if there's a stable close by, you get the free upgrade from Cavaliers.

Naga queens have the unique advantage that they always do their maximum possible damage. No retaliation is great as well, but they suffer from the high price tags of Tower troops.

Wyvern Monarchs are fast, and it's usually easy to have wyverns in week one. However, they are a bit fragile, and need to be used carefully if they are to survive.

Scorpicores are another fast fragile flyer. Their Paralyze specialty doesn't seem to kick in as often as the wyvern's poison does. This is another unit that needs good tactics to be effective.

Efreet Sultans, with their built-in Fire Shield, and immunity to fire spells are the real reason to fear the Inferno. A large stack of them can ruin your day, and odds are, you have a large stack of them. My personal favorite/most respected 6th level, even though I don't really like the Inferno that much.

I'd say the sultans.  There's just something vaguely satisfying about the "you can kill me, but I'm takin' you with me to hell!" attitude of theirs.

Dread Knights are my favorite and I remember so many times when opponent have had these and I have end up killed. Remember when we were playing with my friends some map and my friend attacked with big inferno force to neutral town. I don't know what mapmaker had in his mind but there were like 90 Dread Knights along with Power Liches guarding the town. Well, my friend ended the game because he lost the fight. It was funny to watch though. Double damage, double damage, double damage. Too bad that blind didn't work and my friend had forgot to scout the town...
Nagas aren't even close frightening as these fellows. You know...it's about surprise and fear of unknown. When Naga attacks you know how much damage they do. And they aren't so fast. When Dread Knight attacks you also know the base damage but they have that nasty ace in their sleeve and suddenly low damage changes into doubledamage. Also Nagas have lower defense.

Sultans have lower HP, lower damage, lower defense compared to Dread Knights. They are faster and can fly. But I think they feel only so good because otherwise that Inferno town hasn't so special units...

Of course, since you said "appealing" I'll have to change my answer to the Naga Queen.  Imagine what she can do with all six arms!  (and if the "Queen" part is significant, well, I'll just have to deal with it, as long as "she" still has all six arms!)

How could everyone forget about the magic elemental?  No I am not changing horses, but the ME has magic resistance, no retailiation and hits all ajacent hexes. Maybe we don't think about them because no one likes the conflux?  Sometimes more towns don't make a better game.

I believe that there is enough differences between the levels to warrant discussion on each level separately.  When you do a best creature in game thread mostly you get some dragon or angel or cow, but having a separate thread for each level gives people the opportunity to discuss the strategy behind each level.  This is also an opportunity to discuss the strategy that you like when using the creatures.
