Hello.
Could someone please tell me where I can find information on this "mark of the necromancer" spell all of you keep talking about?
I've looked in spells and skills and can't find anything at all.
Probably right under my nose of course.
Thanks.

Hello.
To anyone who has played/finished Episode-5:
Could anyone give me a recap of the first few weeks in their game, please?
What I want to know is:
-What did you build in your Towns?
-What creatures did you buy?
-How did you go about clearing the immidiate area?
-Were you attacked? If so, from which direction, and when?
Thanks.

Hey, I've a question: I'm playing Mission Two and I'm on the first island to the north of my starting town. My problem is, the Neutral pack of Death Knights won't join Merkal, they engage in fight instead. What gives? All neutral undead troops are supposed to JOIN Merkal - well, Death Knights are neutral and sure as hell they are undead. Am I having a bug or something? Did anyone have it as well?
All the neutral undead forces so far joined me nicely: skeletons, zombies, vampires, wighs. The Death Knights there won't join me no matter what I do, no matter if I have only undead army or living-undead joint venture.
Any tips?

Hello.
To eddie1309:
Death Knights are not considered UNDEAD for the purposes of recruitment by the hero.
Apparently only NECROPOLIS creatures are subject to the automatic-join special ability of the hero.
As far as I know Death Knights ARE considered undead in other ways like spell immunities and such.

to Cabranth: so, Death Knights sort of ARE, and sort of AREN'T undead, huh? ... great.
I know what you mean, I sort of figured it out - I'm just saying that the information on Markal's special ability is simply misinforming, it should have said "ALL UNDEAD DWELLINGS OF THE NECRO CASTLE WILL JOIN YOU", not "all the undead neutral creatures", as this is simply not true...

Hello.
To eddie1309: I hear you.
I had a time of it trying to figure out just exactly what Eternal Servitude did. Bad descriptions making for unnecessary confusion.
I'm still trying to find ANYTHING here or in the game itself about this spell or skill(whatever it is) called Mark of the Necromancer.
People keep mentioning it, but I've never seen it!
Sloppy.

In Part 2 there was a group of ~23 death knights who joined me in the north, I think, but those on the island fought. Good thing I already had a big army by then.

Mission Two: winning with the Haven built up
Guess that if you read all the previous pages of posts, I won't be spoiling too much. If you haven't, read just the following tips and not the paragraphs.
Just finished Mission Two on Hard, and for those having trouble with that mission:
TIPS:
- build up Haven to get the priests
- collect resources laying around
- build up shooting undead-living army
- use the abundant morale and luck bonuses before each bigger battle
- use Markal all the time except for battles when you know that you'll be using BLINDNESS - Godric has it, Markal doesn't
- after the army is built up, squash everything else
- with the shooting army AND the Unicorn Bow, you're invincible
How I played:
Some guys posted that they haven't built up the Haven town, but went straight for Lorekeep ASAP (outmanouvering Orange ships and such) - well, I don't know if this is the good way, or faster way, I didn't do it that way. (Eventually it proved to be a good tactic, since Lorekeep can only be upgraded that much in this scenerio, and the troops from there are week, though numerous.) I stayed a long time on the mainland, getting everything but the Bow guarded by the titans. Orange tried to invade me once, they sent 2 parties, but by that time I was pretty strong as I had lots of Priests thanks to the Haven outpost and lots of Marksmen, so I killed one Orange and the other one escaped. If you want to built the Haven, you have to get all the gold and resources you can get - visit the Mages building on the far left side of the mainland and collect all that's laying around. I didn't bother with the Scroll artefact because I had a living-undead forces anyway, switching the army to Godric for the battles that would require more mana. Collecting the undead with Markal is obvious, and I eventually trained some otherwise useless footmen to priests.
After spending some considerable amount of time on the mainland I went for the islands. Equipped with priests, marksmen and all the undead unharmed plus already a hundred-something Skeleton Archers the Orange sailors were no match (Markal had Archery from previous mission - a real waste if you didn't choose it). The vampires on one of the middle islands were a big help, even though you had to pass through Death Knights to get them.
The norhtern mainland was very easy, as I didn't have to worry about Orange at all - once you sink the sailors, he doesn't move. Since I spent so much time back south to built up the Haven and the priest-now Inquisitor-army, all the roaming undead had grown considerably, so I picked up the ghosts ~~280 and the Skeleton Archers guarding the Ore mine ~swarm I upgraded all at the upgrading building, returned home, blew the now Horde of titans from the face of the earth in 2 turns and took the bow. With the Bow and IF you have built up Haven town, you're invincible.
Went back north and built up the Skeleton Archers by fighting absolutely everything that could be raised. Getting Lorekeep was a joke. As I didn't have to worry about time, I discovered the entire mainland, even though there's not much in the western part except for knowledge boost (+1) that Markal needs veeeeery much. At this time I was building everything in Lorekeep one day at a time, LEAVING THE FORT FOR THE LAST THING. When I was good and ready I built the FORT and the titans guarding the portal escaped (knew this from previous posts - THANKS GUYS!!!)
At the end battle I had: ~1400 Skeleton Archers, 179 Inquisitors, ~~650 Marksmen (200 joined me at the Archers Tower in the western part of the northern mainland), 79 Death Knights (joined me in the western part of the mainland), 65 Vampire Lords 40 Archliches that were cannonfodder since all the turrents and mages attacked them noone knows why and 16 Archangels that I didn't really used in the battle that much. The strategy was: block everything coming out of the castle with the Death Knights and shoot the shooters and mages first, than finish the Blue-Cats and Golems off with the shooters.
So, this is a no-risk guide to accomplishing Mission Two on Hard. Good luck!

Hello.
To Gus: Quote: "there you go, it's in Dark Magic:"
Sorry Gus, but there is NO SPELL named "Mark of the Necromancer" in the listings for Dark Magic. Are you referring to the 5th level spell "Curse of the Netherworld?"
Could ANYONE tell me where to find this thing?

Part 2 is by far the hardest - once again, poor balance in campaign design. Part 1 was basically a tutorial, and parts 3-5 are a cakewalk in comparison (although there are a couple of surprises in part 5, but by that time you should be able to deal with them).
The first time I played part 2, the pirates attacked fairly early - two of them, one after another - and clobbered me easily. I tried again, and although I mostly did the same things, this time they left me alone for longer. I noticed that initially the galleys patrol along regular routes and don't even bother picking up goodies in the water. Once some of them "activate" (not necessarily all at once), you can see it immediatly as they begin to pick up chests and flotsam. I have no idea what triggers them - there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for this. And their actions are not always logical: they would often ignore a poorly defended castle, but go after my hero.
Anyway, on my second try I cleared practically the entire island, then Makral hopped into a boat, leaving all Haven critters to protect the castle. I still didn't have nearly enough troops to deal with more than one pirate at that point, so I sneaked across the west side of the map, stopping only on one island to buy the map (which proved to be very helpful). Once I got caught in between two pirates - had to reload and was more careful the next time around.
Once on the other side, things were easy - there's more than enough troops there that get get for free.

I'm sorry, you're right, there's no "Mark of the Necromancer". I think they refer to "Spirit Link" which is somehow similar to "Mark of the Wizard", hence the use of the name. Or maybe it was the name in the beta?
Anyway, Spirit Link is a subskill of Dark Magic, and allows you to cast a bound on a creature. From then on, when this creature receives damage, you receive Mana. Put that on Vampires or on enemy creatures, and there you go, lots of Mana to cast Raise Dead or Curse Spells.

Hello.
To pajdegen: Godric's daughter is in the jail right next to the Haven town. You have to use Markal to free her.
WARNING! You will be attacked by a group of 10 or so Angels as you move to take her to your Necropolis. After the battle you will get the Angel Wings artifact.
Then Godric will send a hero to invade you. In my game the hero landed at the shore next to the Hill Fort. After I defeated him, I used the Angel Wings to fly over the mountains and attacked Godric in his town.
Hope that helps.

*SPOILERS*
There seems to be a plot hole in the 5th: after you capture Godric's daughter she is never mentioned again, and after a while she even disappears from your inventory. And that teleport next to the necro city doesn't seem to be functional.
When I was playing this scenario, I was in a hurry to get to the prison, because I thought someone else might get to it first and cause the mission to fail. So I fought my way to it early on week 2, without even taking reinforcements. Then I head back and first the angels ambush me, and then in the same turn a mage hero with a strong army attacks me. But I survived both - didn't even lose that many troops (and gained an army of skellies). Shadow Forces, Frenzy, Hypnotise and Raise Dead are way overpowered in this game

After I've defeated Godric , at the end of the 5th mission , I saw a short movie where Godric is arrested by a paladin and then the mission ended.
Was there another movie where I could have seen if Nicolai is resurrected or not , or what does Markal do with those artifacts?

Tactic for Godric (Necro 5)
I noticed from earlier Necro levels that both Godric and Isabel appeared to have the same stats as the ones they had when I finished Haven 5. As it happens I hadn't used Godric in Haven 5 except for freeing Isabel (left him defending a town that never actually got attacked) and I didn't use him in Necro 2 except for a bit of resource gathering and town defence.
When I went up against him in Necro 5, he was rubbish since I had skipped\missed almost every attempt to upgrade him.
