I am a h4 fan As for h5,I think it sucks and I hope that hof will be better.I don't think UbiSoft will make it to be more like h4,even if they'll ad the carvan to hommv hof. I like both h3 and h4.h4 was an innovation. I liked the Gathering Storm expansion, but I didn't like the Winds of War.

H4 would have been great with the Fortress and Conflux in, a fifth level, an outpost town, campaign intro movies, Heroes IIIs magic system, no alignments, better music, Hero specialities and better expansions.
H1 was great. H2 was good too. H3 was best! H4 was petty good but unfinished. H5 was destroyed by some Russian Warcraft freaks.

Are you kidding? Heroes V is better than AAALLLL the heroes games put together... With the exception of the sucky russian to english translation, poor dialogue scripting, weak overly used storyline and completely unbalanced duel mode. but besides that its all good in the hood.

It is a matter of opinion. Beside those faults you mentioned I would also add that:
¤ Heroes V uses 3D graphics. This is a complete waste of money and time. It ruins the atmosphere, it makes the game look very UGLY and make the game more "mainstream" a game for dumb youths (even if I must admit that I for myself started playing Heroes III when I was only nine years old) and people who probably hasn't even opened a book.
¤ Heroes V has only 6 towns (8 towns/races/whatever should be minimum for any decent game)
¤ In Heroes V, the old good Warlock faction has become a faction of Dark elves. This is bad, as Nival has completely ignored the history of Homm, and those Dark elves are unrealistic half-naked women.
¤ Heroes V is set in a new world. Just think about a Heroes V which takes place in Axeoth. I wanted to se Gauldoth, Sandro, Crag Hack, Solmyr, Lysander, Tawni and the others fight about the dominance of Axeoth not some mad queen fighting a cheap copy of the kreegans along with Chinese vampires and Frankenstein’s zombies.
¤ All the old characters are dead. What is a Heroes game without Sandro? And why should Gauldouth die after saving the world as the first truly "good" necromancer.
¤ The Heroes are unbalanced. Some specials are fantastic, while some are terrible. Some can't even get the ultimate racial skill.
¤ The AI is even worse than the one in Heroes III and it get extra resources.
¤ The difficulty levels are less varied than the classical HOMM ones.
¤ NWC already had a promising plan of Heroes V, which probably would have been much better if Ubisoft would have let them continue.
To be fair, I most point out that:
¤ The magic system are petty good
¤ The music is better than the one of the other games.
¤ Inferno is separated from Necropolis again.

Matter of opinion Fortress_Fan, in H4, the grapfics are a cross between H3 and H5, which is abolsulate garbage, H5 graphics are great, they are incrediblely realistic and have good sound + deaths for units are great, and the fact that their could be more than one hero per army is rubish, its never been in the games at all

You are just arguing which version of HOMM is better. >_<
It's an endless argue.
He just asked why HOMM4 doesn't have forums and communities as the other heroes have.
Well... Personaly I think that happened because most of the people (including me) don't like HOMM4 as they like the other versions.
Those few who like it are just not enough to create a whole community.

Yes, Heroes 4 was petty bad, or atleast unfinished. I believe that it had been a better game if not 3DO had concentrated their money on "Whatever Baseball" instead of the NWC games.
Heroes 5 graphics however, sucks. A new 3D game for the warcrafters. It ruins the atmosphere and destroys the whole game. The AI seems to be one year old. I hate Heroes V…

I have liked all heroes games and they have been allways little diffrent than the last one. Every new heroes game has let the past heroes games to their shadows and that goes for Heroes 5 aswell. My favorite HoMM game was H2 mainly cause of the style of the towns and creatures was just for my taste. Heroes 3 i have playd longest time by far and it's the most classic version of the saga. Heroes 4 was good it brink lot of new things to the game but i really hated the grapics of the game but i still played the game a lot. Heroes 5 is once again brilliant game and alltough it does not have all cool things what heroes 4 had i think it's still mutch enjoyable game than heroes 4.
My points of heroes games:
Heroes 1: (I started whit Heroes 2 and got this afterwards and i didn't like it)
Heroes 2: (I just love the creatures! Never i forget Phoenix or Blacks in this game!)
Heroes 3: (I have played this classic game more than any game ever!)
Heroes 4: (I liked skill system, the heroes etc but the candy looks really spoiled some fun for me)
Heroes 5: (If i forgive some online bugs and weird camera angles i can give this great game full five points!)
Heroes of Might and Magic games are my favorites and i like them all and every game have bring some new great ideas to the games. One of the few PC games what i really buy cause i know the money is worth the any penny!

Now I will make my own rankings of the games on a scale from 1-10
Heroes I: I do not have much experience playing this game but I know it is an excellent for its time and it is the original therefore I give it a 7.
Heroes II:I love this game and it sets the stage for Heroes III. Its graphics are not the greatest but as all true Heroes of Might and Magic fans know, graphics are not everything. I give it an 8.
Heroes III: My personal favorite game with a genious turn-based strategy system developed by the previous two games. The options are unlimited and the factions are nearly perfect. It goes by what I call the standard of fantasy but still preserves its own uniqueness. What I mean by that is it contains races with men, elves, dwarves, ORCS, etc. but does not have a strong connection with popular games such as Warcraft as does Heroes V. Grant it Warcraft was not as big then, but we see how successful a game is when it connects with the crowd with that standard of fantasy but also is unique enough to be interesting to new players. The AI is not extremly intelligent but that's what multiplayer is for and that my friends is what makes the world go round. I give this game a 9.5.
Heroes IV: Most of the positive I see with this game is not in the actual gameplay itself but rather seeing Heroes from a new perspective and its potential influence on new heroes games such as Heroes V. For example, Heroes V borrowed the caravan concept from Heroes IV and most likely others. The game itself is not nearly fun enough or should I say complete enough to rival Heroes III but it is a good learning experience for the game developers and gives fans looking forward to the next Hereos game with more material to suggest. I give this game a 6.
Heroes V: I was very dissapointed with this one folks. I think Nival and Ubisoft would have been better off just taking Heroes III as is and turning it 3D with a few additions and modifications to rival with the other major games on the market. It's as if they were just starting the series all over again and this was a game that would be developed over time with new additions to the series. That was not the purpose of the game to the players at all. Also many of those game developers that made a few mistakes in Heroes IV would not be able to learn from them and move on. Now fans are stuck with a new band of mistake prone developers that created this seemingly beautiful piece of junk that is Heroes V. A good analogy of this would be a football team that lost an important game before their bowl, replaced many of their starters with backup players to "prepare" the team for the bowl, played in the bowl game that is on a giant national stage (Heroes V is sold on a large scale in conjunction with other highly popular games) and lost miserably. Rob King is still in there though and I am a big fan of his music although none of the pieces in Heroes V have I come to love like those of Heroes II or III. Only the Academy theme comes close. I would also like to see some tradition with the music. Maybe Mr. King could take those pieces (such as the Academy theme) that were successful and each addition to the series add a new twist to those themes and pieces. I hope the game developers will learn from their mistakes or I will personaly lead the Heroes game developing team. There's always next season. I give it a 6.5.

I second the post of Genie Lord in this thread. Lets not talk about our favorite versions anymore. I don't think there are enough people to form a Heroes IV community. How did you guys get into Heroes IV anyway? Was it your first Heroes game to play? Did you aquire a taste for it after playing the game so much?

Heroes 4- great game, well balanced in very different ways between the towns, excellent spell and level balancing. Graphics are fine.
problems- Awful AI- the gamebreaker, why I seldom play it
- no random map generator
- maybe too slow for online play
If the equilibris team or whoever can fic the AI i would play it a lot.
