You know what?
Disable your internet connection (remove that cable) until you install the game, since the spyware attacks are only available when connected to the net. Also disable the anti-spyware tools as well to ensure a proper installation. Then I don't think you'll be in any danger installing Heroes 5.
And of course after you install it re-connect to the net. If you get no more errors whatsoever from your anti-spyware program than it was a false alarm with the installer executable.

Good idea, I'll give it a shot. Trying it now.
Ok I got it through, but I'm still a little worried about that intraspy thing. What's it doing in my gold edition I have no idea... but I'm worried.

Well sometimes the anti-malware programs detect false alarms in normal programs as well.
For example, a program deleted Adrius' (another member) keyboard drivers because it detected a virus in them... which was of course a false alarm.

"A powerful monitoring program. It invisibily keeps a record of your machine's activity (everything you type or click, all documents you open online/off line, chat, email..). It offers password and encryption protection and is highly configurable. IntraSpy is already used by thousands of users"
thats what the publisher of intraspy says about its product
hope this helps a bit

i figured out that demon lords can indeed get both navigation and snatch...
using the hellfire/succubi mistress idea, i was able to beat 200 minotaurs with 7 succubi mistresses, a great creeping addition for inferno
a few more questions
@asheera: 1) do you know whether magic resistance works the same way as magic protection? or is it additive?
2) what is up with stormwind???? seems to have become ultra-powerful!
is it -20% initiative and -2 speed now???
3) does retribution take into account morale > 5 in its damage calculation?
4) is absolute rage affected by bloodfire?
thanks in advance...and asheera i think you know so much that you can become a mod, hope you are winning elvin's duel tournaments

Aw thanks
1. Magic Resistance is additive, so you can get 100%
As to why Nival did this and didn't use the same formula as with Protection which is more mathematically correct, it's beyond my understanding...
2. Yes, that's correct. That's one of the changes of 3.1
Fog Veil also has been improved, it decreases the damage by 25% instead of 10%.
3. Not in 3.1; in 3.0 it does.
4. Not sure about this one. I don't know if Bloodfire affects Memory of Our Blood/Absolute Rage.

It does, you start with 750 rage that way. Bloodfire works with both warcries and normal attacks.

That's a nice plus for that ability. I often wondered if it's almost useless since you also lose rage faster with it (and you lose rage quite often - when you get attacked)

It's not for two reasons. First of all you start with a rage level which is good protection whether you are charged or fireballed first. Secondly it boosts warcries immensely, especially call of blood. Even if it falls fast you have instantly gained good protection. Where it might be a bad thing is against factions with natural high init, leadership or mass haste.

How good is Counterspell? I have played a lot of routes but have not developed it into a Heroes before.
Can it counter not only enemy heroes but monsters as well. For example, can it counter the annoying Ice Elemental or the Firewall from the dwarf.
I started playing the traditional Campaign with the ToE feel. I am building Isabel.
Currently I am in the 3rd scenerio,
My current abilities are:
Expert Leadership all the way up to Empathy
Expert Attack with Battle Frenzy and Power of Speed
my next choice is between Basic Luck and Basic Sorcery. I am leaning towards Sorcery because even though Isabel is great at Attacking and Luck can help even more as she is built, how can I deal with Magic attacks coming at me?

Yep.
And that's mostly a bad thing in a hero vs hero fight, because you'll 'waste' the Counterspell with the enemy's creatures (if he's smart) and the enemy hero will be able to cast the deadly spell.

Never pick sorcery with a knight, it's a bad skill for might classes. About counterspell you spend one hero action and the next spell cast by enemy hero or unit will be blocked though you lose double the mana of its casting. Keep in mind that while it works on units it won't work on neutrals, they need to be under the control of a hero to use counterspell - or at least that was the case in the past but I doubt it has changed. Bad thing with counterspell is that someone that has sorcery will still act before you counterspell again or he can cast a mass spell that takes only half a hero action in which case he still acts before you do.

I was thinking maybe the counterspell could be used in the middle of the battle or towards the end. There are too many problems using it at the start. I can see what you guys are talking about such as the enemy hero outsmarting you and you using the counterspell on the wrong thing.
Usually I would not even entertain Basic Sorcery, I am just thinking what can I use my mana for?
I really do not want to go with Light Magic because I already have Power of Speed and if I get a chance I will add Defense and go with Power of Endurance as well. Those two spells are fairly cheap and with Sorcery on top of Empathy I was thinking that I should be able on the first four turns of the Hero fairly quickly be able to use: Benediction, Mass Haste, and Mass Enduance. Then after use Retaliation Strike on My most powerful stack. After that I would focus on Divine Guidance so thatmy most useful stack attacks the most often and later on in the match bring in Counterspell.
How does that strategy sound, or do you think it will not work?
The only other thing I could see using the mana for is say picking up destructive magic, then going with Mater of Fire Fiery Wrath and Mana Burst and using the mana to attack with Fireballs.

Decided to go the Luck route, counterspell is interesting but it just seems to limited because a useless spell could be casted you essential wasted a turn and mana to block it, lol.

Light is always a good choice though I don't remember about the campaign. Keep in mind that normally you want resurrection, protection vs dark magic etc. Destructive is useless with a knight's spellpower, not worth it even for master of fire. Knights have purposefully low mana, they depend more on might skills.

I feel you, I can not go destructive as it does not really make sense. My spellpower is like 2 and knowledge is 4 which limits me quite a bit. I think the better route to go is Dark Magic. I would then go Master of the Mind which will stop the ranged attacks with Confusion, then go with Seal of Darkness, this will give good magic defense.

For Haven, either Dark or Light Magic will work for you. Of course, it depends on the spells you get. If you play campaign, you might even consider doing both, although it may be overkill, but it gives you a lot of options. Light + Dark + Enlightenment + Leadership is a fun combo with Knight.

That's most definitely a desync I encountered a lot of times as well, try playing a different map or restart the current one and see if it happens again... unfortunately, you can't fix the current situation so you'll have to give up on the current game.
