some more questions...

1) does anyone know how the vampire prince's torpor chance to trigger is calculated? And how soldier's luck affects it?

2) about Nebiros, his special ability says that "enemy hero cannot use tactics in combat," however, does that mean that Nebiros(who has tactics himself) can use it even if the enemy also has tactics?

3) does anyone know if death march works even if you are the one being besieged? (i.e. if you have the death march ability, but are attacked at your castle, will you have +4 speed for your units?)

thanks!

1) It's the same as other abilities, only that it triggers three times as much. Soldier's Luck doubles the chances - doesn't matter how high they are, it simply doubles them (note: this doesn't mean additive - a chance of 50% would get to 75% when doubled, not 100%!)

2) Nebiros simply cancels enemy's Tactics ability. So if you have Tactics with Nebiros and the enemy has it too, you're the one who benefits from Tactics while the enemy not, it's like the enemy doesn't have Tactics at all.

3) Not sure, I think yes...

Not really a question but I didn't know where else to post it...

I'm just wondering what's with the chances for the Racial skill? (10% for all except Necro with 15%)

I mean, it's not like those can pop up at level up. I know that without them the chances of all skills wouldn't add up to 100%, but then they could have made the other skills' chances higher a little to add to 100% without the racial.

But how the system is now tells us something interesting about Necro though. Having higher chances for Necromancy (15%) means that the Necromancer has a higher chance on average than the others have for skills with the same percentage. For example, a 2% skill for a Knight has (on average, depends on which skills you took) less chance to pop up at level up than a 2% skill for Necro.

I hope this post wasn't totally useless

i don't think so

Death March:

All hero's troops gain +4 speed during the siege of an enemy castle
thats what the description says
(never tested though)

and for your other statement, Asheera, i didnt do the math, so if thats true its nice (allthough i never take 2% chances necro skills), and its absolutely not useless (at least i didn't know that [if math is right, and i'm sure it is ] )

and Edit: happy new year dudes and gals ;p

Just a note here: "Doubles the chance" is really not a very good way to describe the effect of Soldier's Luck. What Soldier's Luck does is that if you fail the check for the ability to trigger, you get another check at the same odds.

Or you could just use the formula 1-(1-P)^2 and do one check, it's the same chance practically.

Also I have a question myself since I never tested: does Soul Fire work with Master of Fire? If that's the case then it's not completely worthless as I thought. Although it's still a very weak ability (and very situational), at least it may have some uses with Master of Fire.

Umm why would you do that and not fireball the enemy instead? Damage is pitiful anyway.

Well there may be a few cases when you don't have mana and you need Consume Corpse, and you still reduce the enemy's defense by 50%.

Although I agree, it's extremely situational, since:

1) You need to use Consume Corpse
2) There should be some enemy units near the Corpse
3) You must have this Soul Fire + Destructive combo

It's still a very weak ability but at least in 1% of the cases it has a use.

Deleb's special doesn't work with MoF so I think Soulfire won't work with it as well. Then again I'm sure you checked that earlier so it's no big news.

I don't think this perk is even worth considering - Spellpower even lower than Demonlords Fireball, highly situational and it won't help much when you actually need more mana. You're better of with Arcane Training

Well Deleb's special is a little different because it doesn't take Hero's mastery into consideration. But in Soul Fire's description (in the Fan Manual) it says that it's exactly as if the spell was casted by the hero, except the spellpower calculation.

Anyway, I'm going to test myself when I have time.

EDIT: Tested, Soul Fire works with Master of Fire.

From masterpost:

12. Are there other places to play online, and how do I get started? How does hamachi work?
Many players play online through the Tournament Of Honor homepage. To get started, read this Guide to start playing TOH or visit the Tournament Of Honor forum of this community.
Where hamachi is concerned just install the version indicated in the above link, the rest is easy. You create a network and give your opponent the password to join, keep in mind that if you don't have the same version you may not be able to see the other's game or it may cause a desync.

If you want any help with that let me know.

soulfire can be useful for countering phantom creatures, shattering crystals, etc. if you run out of mana. pretty much an end of battle thing when the battlefield is littered with corpses and you have many corpses to choose from...

i have a question...i stopped playing stronghold for a while after they nerfed defend us all(no more 10000 goblins) but got around to playing it again:

my opponent is using wyngaal; i decided to trash telsek and picked haggash(one imbalanced hero deserves another) i also picked tactics, stormwind, triple flaming ballista and empathy, but am not sure whether i should get enlightenment or defense as a final skill. what is your take on bloodfire in this instance if i were to get enlightenment? (medium map but lots of time to develop)

thanks!

Enlightenment has a 2% chance, but it would be very nice to get it. The power of the skill itself is incredible and it is better than the Defense skill. For the abilities I'm not sure, Bloodfire may not prove that useful especially because you fight Sylvan which has lots of high initiative units (and Wyngaal only adds to this pain at the start of combat), and Bloodfire also makes you lost rage faster.

I think I'd resist the temptation of the Enlightenment skill because you're fighting against Wyngaal so Defense is a pretty good choice there (to make sure you survive his first attack)

I, too would recommend Defence. Try to get Last Stand and Vitality OR Defend us All (and maybe, Preparation?). Make sure you get Trappers, Maraders, and Warmongers and avoid Untamed Cyclopses.

interesting advice; there is an enlightenment hut that's how i can choose the skill

a question though: wyngaal shouldn't be able to reach me in the first turn barring power of speed and/or windstrider boots, have you taken that into consideration?

do my centaurs get to go first or do his arcane archers get to go first?

thanks!

There are many ways which could make Wyngaal hit you in the first turn, and if it's a skilled player believe me he will attempt to get at least one of these. If you don't strike in first turn, Wyngaal's bonus is mostly wasted, so no skilled player would allow such a thing.

As you said there is the Windstrider Boots possibility, but he can also take Aura of Swiftness (Leadership perk) or Tactics.
Quote:

It depends on the random start ATB, although the Arcanes, having higher initiative than the Centaurs, would be more likely to strike first. Haggash improves initiative of Centaurs, but so does Wyngaal to all his troops at the start of combat.
