With normal it works so long i dont go into town, gotta have Very Low without problems..
But the thing is, it worked perfectly before i changed Ram.
And i think that a OC8800GTX, E6850 Duo core cpu @ 3.3ghz and 4gb of DDR2 1066mhz can run this game pretty well

UPDATE, FIX FOR THE WASHED OUT TEXTURE:
To all those that have this problem, atleast those with a 8800 nvidia card, been researching alot, 99% of all the solutions are not working, got tired and didnt care anymore and just played with washed out textures, and guess what:
After 15 minutes or so of normal playing, the textures will go back to normal, even if you zone out from a town etc, battle, whatever, the textures will still remain perfect.
So all you gotta do is get your settings max to maximum or whatever you had before these problems, and keep on playing with the washed out textures, and sooner or later, it will go back to perfect textures.
Altough, if you alt+tab, change resolution etc, it will go back to the bad textures, but will go normal again pretty quick
Hope that helps, reply back if it works, and again, dont have to be exactly 15 minutes, can be 10 minutes, can be 30 minutes, be patient

I know that you seem to have fixed the problem, but couldn't you just replace the faulty RAM with the exact same (and working) RAM so it will just be like before?

Read.."Texture problems after changing RAM"..changed them both to "new" rams, after that where the problem did occure.
However, the ram was not the problem, its our cards, 8800 nvidia cards, probaly just a coincidence that it happend just after i installed new rams

DMoogle, Try to fix the problem as i mentioned, if it dont work, and if you havent already, try with the post someone here earlier posted:
"SOLUTION for washed out textures for Radeon 4870 (maybe all ATI cards or also NVidia) and Windows Vista x64:
Go to:
C:\Users\your_username\Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Profiles\your_HOMAMTotE_profile_name\
Open "user_a2.cfg" and check if you have all the settings same as I do below (except "setvar gfx_resolution = " - THERE YOU MUST PUT YOUR DESIRED RESOLUTION and window resolution, where can be anything). I strongly recommend you using all the other stuff below if you wanna have quite nice and acceptable graphics!
Be sure you DO NOT have Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic Filtering, Trilinear Buffering and Vsync forced in your drivers!! It kinda overrides the game settings and it does not work then!
MAKE A BACKUP OF "user_a2.cfg" BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANYTHING!
DO NOT CHANGE THE VIDEO SETTINGS INGAME AFTER YOU PUT THE STUFF BELOW IN YOUR "user_a2.cfg"! IT STOPS WORKING IF YOU DO SO...
The part of "user_a2.cfg" you should rewrite:
setvar gfx_16bit_mode = 0
setvar gfx_16bit_textures = 0
setvar gfx_anisotropic_filter = 16
setvar gfx_ban_lags = 0
setvar gfx_depth_tex_resolution = 1024
setvar gfx_dynamic_lights = 1
setvar gfx_effect_alpha_treshold = 0
setvar gfx_fix_ban_np2 = 0
setvar gfx_fix_nv_np2_hack = 0
setvar gfx_frame_transition = 1
setvar gfx_fsaa = 8
setvar gfx_fullscreen = 1
setvar gfx_gamma = 1
setvar gfx_hsr = 0
setvar gfx_lag = 1
setvar gfx_lm_calc = 0
setvar gfx_lm_quality = 1
setvar gfx_lod_switch_distance = 300
setvar gfx_mapshot = 0
setvar gfx_nonclipped_water = 0
setvar gfx_nopixelshaders = 0
setvar gfx_noshadows = 0
setvar gfx_particles = 1
setvar gfx_quality = 1
setvar gfx_register_resolution = 1
setvar gfx_resolution = 1680x1050
setvar gfx_shadows_quality = 0
setvar gfx_static_nooverwrite = 0
setvar gfx_texture_mip = 1
setvar gfx_transp_buffer_auto_grow = 0
setvar gfx_true_water_reflection = 0
setvar gfx_vsync = 1
setvar gfx_water_amplitude = 0.01
setvar gfx_water_frequence = 4000
setvar gfx_water_length = 5.13
setvar gfx_water_reflection = 1
setvar gfx_window_size = 1664x969
DO NOT BE AFRAID IF THE GAME STARTS WITH WASHED OUT TEXTURES, JUST START A NEW GAME AND IT WILL BE OK! I WAS PLAYING IT OVER 4 HOURS WITHOUT AN ERROR...ehm... smile_teeth smile_teeth
I hope it helps you, works wonders for me!! Finally!!
If someone else comes with better solution I am big ear though! wink
Cheers,
i.n.s.a.n.e

Well if the games were working just fine before you replaced the ram and the problem occurred AFTER you put new ram in, don't you think it would be the RAM that is the problem? And by replace I meant getting the EXACT same RAM as you had before.

As i said in the previous post, been researching ALOT,99% of all that have this problem is with users that have the Nvidia 8800 card, since i have 1 of my self, it just says it self, tbh, dont know what happend...but anyway, if i need new ram of the EXACT same ram, really hard to get, some special stuff , and VERY expensive, that my wallet cant buy atm..
but however, the problem for me, and hopefully for many others, are fixed

Emperor: Like I said in a previous post, I tried that. It didn't seem to change anything at all, let alone fix my problem.
And again, it only seems to go into that state sometimes when I enter towns.
EDIT: As an aside, how do you unsubscribe from threads?

hm ok.
Then test my version of the fix, play a map for 15-30 minutes or so, with all the settings maxed, or where you had them ussaly, and see if it will get fixed by it self during that time..dont alt+tab thou

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me. I made mt first post for these forums in this thread a couple of days ago and quickly received an answer, but now everytime anything is posted in this thread, the forums notify me by e-mail and it clogs up my inbox pointlessly. Is there some way I can swith off the "Notify me when this receives a response" function?

As far as I know, it's not possible. Perhaps deleting that post might help? I'm not sure though, as I never use the "Email Notification" function.

Working Trainer Programs?
I can't find a single trainer program that works! Am I doing something wrong? Is the trainer spose to go in a certain folder to work or something?
Have a trainer that works? let me know what version of the game and the trainer. I only have the original HOMM and no addons.
This is bull crap that we have to dump all our questions in one folder on this forum.

I'm not doing this to annoy anyone, it is the specific forum's policy. You have no idea how many pointless threads filled the first page before that do don't be quick to judge.

You can just press the "New Topic" button at the bottom.
But there are certain rules explained in the FAQ:Quote: Members with less than 4 red stars can post a maximum of [ 1 + postnum / 10 ] threads, where "postnum" is member's post count. Basically, one thread to start with, and one more for each 10 posts. This limit is in place to prevent forum flooding by new members, and to encourage them to search and post in the old threads instead of creating an identical new thread (for instance we've had dozens of "what is your favorite creature?" threads). This is a large forum with many topics already covered, so a search or two will in most cases find just the right thread for what you want to talk about. This also prevents new members from unintentionally frustrating the old members - it is frustrating to see someone creating a new thread, asking the same question that was discussed on the forum a week or two ago instead of posting in the relevant old thread.
Also you can't post a new thread when you have 0 posts.
However for small questions just use this thread.

Hi I'm pretty new to this game so I'm wondering what's the difference between the difficulty levels (easy/normal/hard/heroic), because it seems to me on hard level the AI just cheats (i.e more gold/resources?), or maybe it's just me needing for practice
If this was already asked could someone direct me to the page please. I really don't want to wade through 50 pages of posts. Thanks.

You are right. While hard is considered the 'default' difficulty the AI does cheat quite a bit and can see the map. However apart from that it is very predictable and can easily be outsmarted once you get more familiar with the game. Normal is a beginner difficulty where AI is less aggressive, does not build higher magic guilds than you do and builds every other day. Heroic is like hard but you just have a lot fewer resources. If you have tote you should also have the manual in the fan documents of its directory, that should contain things I may missed.
