Just wondering. Everytime I use academy and Sylvan the towns are completely black inside like there is no colour detail to the towns... Is there anyway I can try and fix this?

Question about Duel Map 1.1
I tried singleplayer and started with town level 0 and week of plague...!?
Or it`s not meant for SP? (Bc in the first version AI sometimes waited for 2/3 week growth until it attacked me)

@Devvy
This is a graphics issue, maybe if you upgrade your graphic card drivers?
@einomida
Week of plague is intended, that way you cannot get random weeks that affect the gameplay such as week of might or balance. Towns are fully built though, maybe the teleporting script did not work? Normally you start in the snow area and script teleports you to the right faction area, pei had the same issue but he's the only one as far as I know.
Unless.. It is possible that this happens because you do not set the second player as human, in fact I'd bet on it. This is supposed to be a multiplayer map or at least for testing builds by using both sides. You can simply make the leveling decisions by yourself and place whichever player in autocombat.

Custom Icons
I have a question: How do I get custom icons to work in the Map Editor? I got the right file format but... it just says "Wrong texture. The texture format must be 128x128x32."

Hey, i own heroes 5, but it's a cracked game (i bought it off ebay, he didn't say it was cracked) and anyway, now i want to buy the expansions. So i have 2 questions.
1) Is Hammers of fate a standalone game, because the game is cracked i cannot use a game that relies on having the original game.
2)If HoF is not a stand alone game, can you install it with a non-cracked TotE?
Thanks

Tribes of the East is a standalone version, that means that you can play it without the original game or Hammers of Fate.
And you can download the campaigns and old maps for free, so ToE is the best choice.

Does anyone know how to freeze the combat screen?
I right-click on units during combat so I can see their attributes. But I'm having trouble because the tool-tip message is unstable. If I barely move my mouse, the message flashes off.
I've tried adjusting the three camera modes (Normal, Vertical Fixed, Classic HOMM View), but those apply only to the adventure map, not to combat. I have the "Tool-tip delay" set to "unlimited" and that helps, but not enough to hold the tool-tip message firm.
With my mouse I can set the DPI speed to its lowest setting, and that holds the message with some firmness, but then the cursor moves too slowly across the screen. And it's a hassle having to adjust the DPI back and forth.
What I would like to do is to freeze the combat screen. Then when I right-click, the screen will not slide around at the slightest movement of my mouse. The tool-tip messages will remain firmly in place. Does anyone know how I can go into the HOMM V files and adjust a setting that will freeze the combat screen

i don't know if i understand your question right, but if you have troubles seeing enemy creatures (or own creatures) attributes, current enchantments or involved skills... just right click on the atb bar icon of the creature, this is easier then clicking on the creature itself

Buji, thanks for the reply.
I believe you do understand my question. I'm not having trouble seeing any creatures. I'm having trouble seeing their attributes, enchantments, etc., after I right click on them. Specifically, the window that shows those attributes, etc., won't remain firmly in place.
Right-clicking the creatures' portraits down on the initiative bar is better, as you suggest, but even there I have trouble keeping the attributes' window firmly in place. This is because whenever you right-click the combat screen, you can rotate the screen, or tilt it up and down. But, at least for my Logitech G9 mouse, it's too easy to do that inadvertently. When I hold down on the right-click, even a very slight movement of my mouse will cause the screen to move. Unfortunately it also causes the attributes' window to disappear, forcing me to right-click on the portrait again to bring the window back up.
An annoyance.
Since making my post, I have been getting by with a right-click and hold on the initiative-bar portraits. If, just before right-clicking, I reduce the DPI on my mouse to its lowest setting, I CAN keep the attributes window in place. But, as I said above, it's a hassle having to lower and raise the DPI. (I have to raise the DPI back up after checking the creature's attributes. Otherwise my cursor moves too slowly.)
I think I might be able to hack into a game file and adjust a setting that will freeze the combat screen. That's what I want to do, but I don't know how. If someone knows what file to open, how to open it, and what setting to adjust, I would certainly be thankful.

Actually.. I think that can be solved if you turn the camera 180 degrees, at least that is what happens with me.

Thank you for replying, Elvin.
I think you mean 90 degrees. Anyway, it doesn't make much difference, at least not for me. I just tried it.
I prefer the frozen combat screens in Heroes III & IV. To me, the ability of rotating it is a novelty I am better off without. I wish we were given an option to freeze it in Heroes V. If no one can tell me how to hack a file and freeze it from there, I'm afraid I'm going to have to put up with the hassle of toggling my DPI speed.
I was hasty when I first made this reply. Since I have experimented further with rotating the screen to the end-zone viewpoint as opposed to the sidelines viewpoint. Indeed it does make the attributes' window more stable. Yet it is also still unstable. An inadvertent movement of my mouse will cause the window to flash off.
If someone could explain how to keep the combat screen locked, I would appreciate it, and I think other Heroes V players would appreciate it too.
Edited paste:
Hurray I found a way to do it. On Ubisoft's Heroes V Tech message board, I found a post that helped me to find and open the configuration files for Heroes V and its two expansions. After that, with a little trial and error, I found a way.
To freeze the combat screen (unless I hit 'ALT' + right-click) for Heroes of Might and Magic V - Hammers of Fate, I went to Documents / MY Games / Heroes of Might and Magic V / Hammers of Fate / Profiles / Player / Profiles. Then I used Notepad to open the input_a1 file. In the section titled, "// Camera
// !!! DO NOT CHANGE ANY OF THESE !!!" I copy/pasted the following 9-line section to a secure place on my hard drive, from which I could restore it to the input_a1 file if I needed to:
bind +camera_fps_rotate 'MOUSE_AXIS_X' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1'
bind +camera_fps_pitch 'MOUSE_AXIS_Y' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1'
bind -camera_zoom_mouse 'MOUSE_AXIS_Z'
bind +camera_rotate_mouse 'MOUSE_BUTTON1' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_X'
bind -camera_pitch_mouse 'MOUSE_BUTTON1' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_Y'
bind -camera_strafe_mouse 'MOUSE_BUTTON2' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_X'
bind -camera_strafe_mouse 'CTRL' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_X'
bind +camera_forward_mouse 'MOUSE_BUTTON2' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_Y'
bind +camera_forward_mouse 'CTRL' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_Y'
Then I changed these 9 lines to read as follows:
bind +camera_fps_rotate 'SHIFT' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_X' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1'
bind +camera_fps_pitch 'SHIFT' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_Y' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1'
bind -camera_zoom_mouse 'MOUSE_AXIS_Z'
bind +camera_rotate_mouse 'ALT' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_X'
bind -camera_pitch_mouse 'ALT' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_Y'
bind -camera_strafe_mouse 'ALT' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON2' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_X'
bind -camera_strafe_mouse 'CTRL' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_X'
bind +camera_forward_mouse 'ALT' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON2' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_Y'
bind +camera_forward_mouse 'CTRL' + 'MOUSE_BUTTON1' + 'MOUSE_AXIS_Y'
As you can see, all that I did was insert 'ALT' and 'SHIFT' in a few of the lines. I didn't know exactly which lines I needed to change in order to keep the combat screen from rotating, so I just changed them all, except for the two lines that had 'CTRL' in them and the line 'MOUSE_AXIS_Z'
Now it is easier to right-click units and read their attributes without having the gray popup screen flash off because I inadvertently moved my mouse.
Though I haven't actually tested this for other than Hammers of Fate, to freeze the combat screen in the original Heroes of Might and Magic V game, presumably I would have to go to Documents/My Games/Heroes of Might and Magic V/Profiles/Player. Then in the Input.cfg and the Input files, I would make the same changes I made to Hammers of Fate.
Likewise, to freeze the combat screen for Tribes of the East, I would have to go to Documents/My Games/Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East/Profiles/Player/input_a2.

Okay, I'm sure this has been asked somewhere but I've been googling for HOURS and search on this site to no avail.
Is there ANY possible way to keep simultaneous turns on all the time? I know it could mess with the game, but me and my buddy are playing against the computer and he still goes on his turn, so it should matter at all.
ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Only possibility is play a map that keeps sim turns on for the majority of the game. Most toh maps are designed with that in mind.
