hey everyone I downloaded some maps online and I can't figure out how to play them when I start up the game. I can see the maps in the map editor but don't know how to make them playable. Where do I need to put the maps I downloaded? Thanks in advance

Assuming you have tote the folder should be here: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Maps
Even if not just check the game's directory for a folder called maps. Tote maps will not play in original or hof so check versions.

I downloaded my maps from this website
http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/heroes5/original_maps.shtml
I have the files all in that directory but they don't show up with the regular maps...and I do have the tribes of the east expansion. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

um...but did u download the maps that says "Maps for Heroes 5 - Tribes of the East" or "< to be played under ToE"

well, I can only assume once you started program, you went to single player, then custom map & ticked show multiplayer maps & should see the scenarios you downloaded(that's what I did)...
Else you can generate a random map, save it with some name you remember & just check in windows explorer that the saved random map is in the same folder as all the others... otherwise can't help any further

Hmm have you checked in multiplayer? Most maps appear there.

umm, RMG maps against computer: their turns takes ages... are u playing a non-RMG map? (perhaps also play a map that has instant travel disabled as they take ages working out paths?)

turn away from the dark side
actually just try a normal (like warlords?) or downloaded map from maps4heroes website against computer & you'll notice difference in speed straight away

Hi. I cannot seem to use the Staff of the Netherworld to convert a city in mission 3 of the original necromancer campaign (version 1.6). I have it equipped. I enter the town. I leave it. Nothing.
Is there a special way I need to equip it, enter the town, or leave the town? Feel free to be specific in terms of keystrokes or things to click on because I'm just not getting that option.

In the description of Jhora's Windspeaker specialty it says that "Hero's turns come faster in combat depending on hero level". How much faster?
Do any maps (prefereably for custom games) have Phoenix lairs? I'm yet to have a Phoenix join my army, sadly.

Never seen one. Jhora gains +1 init at lvl 20 so it's not very strong.
