Script
Hi,
i'm currently working on a major script and i'd like feedback. Is that o.k. to post that here? Or somewhere else?
The main goal for this script is not balancing, although balancing should in the end be done, too. The main goal is working out the heroes and factions specialities and add dynamic changes to the game. That is changes which have to be developed, not just available from scratch for nothing. So many of the changes depend on the combination of 2 secondary skills and sometimes on hero class.
The secondary goal is to make some skills which are mostly useless else quite valuable.
There will always be a testmap together with the current working script version online at http://www.rorkvell.de/h3/script99.zip
The script may contain bugs and will contain debug messages. The map is kind of tutorial for the new features.
One of the features is a hero beeing able to reveal parts of the map once a day. Prerequisites are no necromancy, but eagle eye and scouting. For necromancers there is a similar feature, not revealing the map, but hiding part of the map. Prerequisite here is necromancy, mysthicism and earth magic. For both it costs movement points.
Here's a shot taken with the test map. I used 2 heroes to reveal 2 different parts of the map. The small right circle was done using Orrin with basic eagle eye and basic scouting as an example for a non-specialised hero. So this is the minimum spot revealed. The other circle was done using Sanya with too basic eagle eye and basic scouting. But a) she has eagle eye speciality, and b) eagle eye as the second skill (comes out of box with eagle eye). Both facts increase efficiency.
The map is a small map. For comparison: A standard redwood observatory reveals nearly the complete map.
Update:
One of the other features is a boost in AT and/or DF, depending on movement, tactics, offense and armorer. If moved, and has tactics and offense, gets AT+. The more moved, the higher bonus (like champion charge bonus). If still has movement points, and has tactics and armorer, gets DF+. The more remaining, the more bonus. Castle heroes may get both in one battle, others get only AT+ if attacking and DF+ if defending. Necros don't get this bonus (get others instead). Bonus is influenced by some other things. Cursed ground inhibits bonus. Holy ground doubles, evil fog halves. Necro artifacts inhibit bonus. Some artifacts lower bonus, some artifacts enhance bonus (these artifacts will be different for each fachtion). And a third (not prerequisite) skill may increase bonus. This third skill is different for each fachtion. For castle it's leadership. For rampart i'm thinking of luck. Others still to check.

@Siegfried: this is correct thread for TE proposals.
However, TE was developed mostly for multiplayer games. In multiplayer, game balance is very important. Your proposals look for me as:
1) disbalancing.
Have you ever played on TE version? Scouting is one of the best skills now. I don't see the need to improve it further or make any objects/spells/skills that open more map.
Your proposal for A/D bonus is too easy to get and bonus is too strong. Do you know about Warrior class in TE?
2) complex.
ERM is limited a lot. Can you help TE developers with assembler/IDA programming? We need to make selection of random template message box at start of the game. It's possible to do with ERA 1.5 homm3 platform, but I'm not good in disassembling exe code...

Well, o.k., if balancing is the absolute main focus, then this is not the right thread. Although when done script, balancing adjustments are planned. And feedback of some bonus too easy to get is welcome. But then you see that others may get this bonus as easy as you. And yes, the bonus may become quite strong.
But the testmap is a special case. Here i have installed a couple of scholars teaching the skills, to be able to quickly test their results. So normally a hero won't have these skill combinations just with level 1.
Second this testmap is special as i chose mainly special heroes having one of the specialities and/or come out of box with one of these special skills. So the results in the testmap are the extreme result, the maximum what could happen. But, as Salamandre already mentioned, it may indeed be too strong. I made a note here and will check that again. And if i find a good way of how to reduce effectiveness, may be i'll do that. One of the problems is, that i do not simply want switch-on bonus, but a bonus increasing with hero development. But as heroes may develop quite far, there will be a quite large development of these boni too. So if reducing, then reduce the development, but still have some development. So if there are any ideas, they are welcome.
No, i don't know TE edition. I did not even know it exists. But i'm interested. Very interested in this warrior class you mentioned. And (besides balancing) your goals in developing this TE edition.
I hope i can learn something from the TE edition. I hope i find some good ideas there. And in the end, when the script is finished, maybe some (few) competition players want to try it. If not, i've no problem with that.
If this is not the right thread to diskuss this script, it's o.k. Just tell me. In fact, i doubt it is. I still have the thread in the HoMM3.5 section, and for me this would be o.k. I think, Salamandre wanted me to discuss those ideas with experienced players especially for balancing issues.

There are still a lot of bugs. Even without sim turns.
The very first day we tried it, there was a crash. Then again - both times happened when visiting oponents info in tavern.
BTW i think its good to show the terrain only when you want it. Its kind of annoying to have so much messeges on your screen.
You check 3-4 monsters before you decide what to do, and your screen is full of messeges. And you need to know the terein only for zone guards. Inside the zone you know what terein it is.

At next version i'l fix it. Terrain will show only if near other terrain.
Now version are stable (only for regular play, for sim turns are not stable yet). Over 20 players played each evening and are in chat.

about patch
hi
I've been playing h3 since it came out, and still making nasty multiplayer games with my friends on web , but really dissapointed from game not being balanced enough. I found about TE patch now (2010) can you believe that! I'm so happy to see those changes. Well my question is whether there is a new vers of this patch cuz i saw that it is released in 07'. If so plz post link for D/L or you e-mail me at ivan_dulgerov@abv.bg

Several times there were a bug in TE - towns that was supposed to have modified army growth, actually had SOD-like growht. Basilisk were 4 instead of 5 and Lizard was 9 instead of 9. Same thing happend to a friend with inferno.
The occurance of the bug is strange, providing we dont touch our settings at all more than a year, and we play the same opponents.
