Nice. But what about Crag-Hack? Is he still a cheat as he was by starting with Basic Offense?

Not really. People 50/50 take Tyraxor as he always get 3 stacks of wolves...and these wolves quickly get 15-25 HP with increased attack/defence/damage...When i play Fortress i will have good choice between Alkin (super cows), Wystan (super Lizards), Broghild and Tazar. So i will probably not select Crag if he comes into Fortress's tavern. Crag/Taz are still good for Castle, Tower, however other towns have better heroes. Keep in mind classes, some make good combos like Scouting + Pathfinding + Logistics + Navigation...not easy to develop such hero, but possible. Even Yog is interesting now

On balance i take always Tyraxor (if i can choose). Not long time ago, i maked my new record on balance break to TZ.

But Fortress has very good native heroes nevertheless. What I am saying is that Crag is now even more interesting than before. You don't have to worry about your second skill. You advance Offense to Expert and then you get Earth. Then by level 6 you have Expert Earth.
But you are right. I haven't played TE for so long that I 've even started to forget how the whole thing works (combo of skills).

I met Horn few days ago. Not many news as far as we had not much time. So:
- version 1.03R release probably will be delayed (my estimation - till June - July)...WOG/TE team need programmers that know assembler/C and willing to help the project.
- most probably in 1.03R version Ballistics, First Aid, Artillery will be united into 1 skill - "War machines". This chance will make this skill really useful.
- most probably there will be special patch for random maps. Currently, differences in fixed and random maps is big and it's hard to balance towns, heroes, etc for both types of maps.
- 1.03R will come with updated English manual
- Tower town will be made more strong and attractive

Tower is good on Panic maybe...however in general (comparing with Necro/Fortress/Dungeon) it's too weak. No good starting heroes, hard to beat nagabanks, speed 11 max, expensive army, etc. Keep in mind that necro/flux are allowed for selection in TE. Btw, i bet necro/flux power will decrease further, however i'm not sure which changes will be done for these towns.

Not only on Panic. On Balance its good too. 2sm(3)d + 8mm6 not bad too. No good starting hero's ? Neela, Josephine, Iona ... not bad heroes. Yesterday i maked one from my records. 117 Balance L - 13 lvl Josephine Sometimes i call Josephine - Stinger's hero, becouse he's first, who begann to play this hero and like it
You think, that bests are Necro,Fortress,Dungeon ? Yep, with Necro/Fort yes, but Dungeon very oft are sux Flux is not so good with '' Monere '' too. (speaking about it in 2sm/8mm6)

New scripts (they work with HoMM3 TE 1.03q):
1) "No Dirt roads" new script is ready! It works only with HoMM3 TE version and allows to select road types for random maps. Installation: red player should put TE.ini file into \DATA folder and script91.erm into \DATA\s folder. Select road type in TE.ini (open it with any text editor); by default, roads are always cobblestone. Programming done by Sir_Four and GrayFace
2) "Chaining" is a key part of HoMM3. It is sometimes inconvenient to search for the "next hero in chain" while you chain your army. Now it's very easy! Normally, after "hero meeting" screen, focus is going to hero, that has initiated meeting (at the left). However, if you chain, then you need to put focus to the "next hero in chain" (at the right). Script 80 allows to do it. Just right-click on "OK" button on "hero meeting" screen and right hero will be active after you close dialog window. It works only with HoMM3 TE version. Installation: player should put script80.erm into \DATA\s folder. Programming done by SAG
Rumors about 1.03R version:
it is rumored that developers are looking into making combats more predictable; possibly there will be changes in work of Leadership, Luck, Resistance skills.

I'd like to say that TE and the options it provides are just awesome
The changes made to the heroes are all sexy and it makes many heroes that were considered useless quite good.
Same with secondary skill and spells. With the given options, I can finally play a random map no-rules game with no problem.
So thank you for this.

Rumors about 1.03R version:
Eagle eye skill probably will be enhanced...idea was to allow learning spells casted by opponent in the battle.

H3TE bugs
hi there, im playing h3te in online multiplayer for quite some time now and here are some of the bugs i found:
according to "sstraits.txt" expert first aid tent should heal 200hp, instead it heals a random number between 5 and 100hp but never 200.
tested this with level 6 rion. also selecting "wait" on the tent does the same as "defend" - the battle skips to next round. the extra hp for tent works fine with level 7 or higher hero. a cosmetic bug: when a hero has angels in army, a click on a creature properties while battle says "+1 morale helbardiers in army" while it should say angels in army.
i also have a save in which recruiting a hero from tavern crashes the game instantly in MP or hotseat mode, just tell me if your interested or if theres any other place where i can report bugs (i cant speak any russian though).
all in all i think those russians did a great job in speeding up the game and fixing some things that were a real pain in the ass but we got a slightly less stable h3 in mp mode on the downside. so thx for the work guys.

"sstraits.txt" is not TE manual or official documentation. Perhaps TE developers just wanted to enhance skill a bit.

Right place. Please report bugs here. Regarding "permanent crash" - it's REALLY RARE case, I haven''t seen it though i played maybe 30-40 games on TE.

I don't think that it's less stable. Try to re-install Heroes into folder without any "spaces" and local chars. Example: C:\Heroes3\. (ask your opponent to do the same). Use same set of .txt files as your opponent.

thats true. "sstraits.txt" contains the descriptions of the heroes secondary skills. my point was, that using a hero with "first aid" secondary skill in h3te, a rightklick on the first aid symbol in the hero screen brings up the info "Expert First Aid gives control of the first aid tent to the hero, healing 200 points of damage to the first unit of the selected stack." which is wrong, as described above. the
numbers given for basic and advanced skill level are also incorrect.

i dont think so. IMO boosting first aid skill to heal 100/150/200HP would really make sense, especially with all the other secondary skills being improved now. having a first aid specialist hero that heals only 10HP in the worst case is really disappointing.
there are also some bugs in the magic system: "air shield" for example, was moved from 3rd to 1st level, but costs 12SP without magic skill and 9SP with basic/advanced/expert air magic, as if it was still a level 3 spell. this is not a big deal though, since all the magic values can be easily edited in "sptraits.txt".

btw, i have heard about a wog 3.58f script update. do you have any information if this update also works for h3te, or is it exclusively for WOG 3.58f? im kind of confused here...

New script for TE
allows to show not just message "Artifact" but also it's picture and name (when you right-click on it). May be useful if artifact is not fully visible. DOWNLOAD IT. Extract file into \DATA\S\ folder.
