Sorry if I'm asking this at wrong place,but it's been a while since my last visit on this forum and I didn't read all 24 pages so be gentle Was there any or even slightest rumor to change random map generator? Because it takes at least 10 minutes to create a random and 10 more to load that map X_x Heroes V works quite well on my computer but this is rather annoying...
Overall Heroes V TotE is an outstanding game,gotta love the goblin king ,just this issue with random map bothers me because I grow custom to random maps since H3

Well if you have the game just try it no? There were some minor changes but I doubt loading times have changed.
If you look in the TOH section of the board Nevermindspy is working on his own RMG.

HOMM5 Gold Edition
Has anyone seen a "Gold Edition" containing all three versions of HOMM5 in any USA stores? I have seen the three priced separately, but there was a rumor that it would come out in one package with all three.
I have seen that for sale on some non-USA sites, but would worry about language edition, currency exchange, etc.

Just to inform you, the link is broken. Also there is supposedly two versions. Gold without HoF + ToTE and one coming out that supposedly has everything including HoF + ToTE.

ok, am i the only one who feels that the heaven alternative upgrades suck? or perhaps the first version are soooooooooo powerful? even though it depends on the situation, the precise shot is better than no range, shield other is better than cleave, battle dive + bigger damage + faster is better than battle rage, the zealot is ok, yet he can cure only once if i remember correctly (or blind once), the champion can be used, provided you keep some paladins in the army to lay hands, and... where's my blood angel? u can have vampirism, but no vampire-angels. i was willing to sacrifice resurrecyion for life steal, but not for this. now dark magic is definately better than light in most of the cases..,
can someone provide me with real stats about the new level 4 life magic spell - some archdevils kill 20 squires and your hero has has exp light and 7 spell power - so sq60.6.17 = 790 damage?
i don't have the game yet so i need explanation.

Admittedly i dont know too much about the spell. However i can copy and paste this for you
Divine Vengeance - Cost: 14
Inflicts magical damage to selected creature that depends on the number of enemies selected creature killed from the beginning of combat.
The damage inflicted depends on the target's "frags": the number of creatures killed multiplied by their tier. For example, killing 5 peasants gives 5 frags, while killing 1 Paladin gives 6 frags. Killing a summoned creature gives no frag.
In the damage formula, F is the square root of the target's frags.

thanks for that post.
yet, i'd like to know what happens if the stack you are going to cast it on has killed 2 different kinds of creatures, let's say 100 peasants and 20 squires. which one determines the spell damage or the effect is culminative?

They are determined into the theoretical "frags" so its cumulative.
Its not the number of creatures killed, its the frags theyre converted into

I think you are not seeing the whole picture about the alternatives. Haven has imo one of the best alternatives, meaning that they are truly alternatives and not the same unit with a single different ability.
Level 1 is equal, you have either Bash or Assault - both are good abilities. Level 2, I prefer Crossbowman. Marksmen are only good against big stacks that will come to you, but then they sure do massive damage. I actually think that crossbowmans damage could be a little less, because I find no range penalty too good nevertheless. Arcane Archers are worse.. Squire vs. Vindicator. 2 totally different units for totally different purposes - defensive vs offensive. Vindicators do massive damage. I'll pick whichever I need the most. I can also use them BOTH, because I only need a few Squires for their Shield Allies ability.
Griffins are again way different. The other is weak but offensive and other is sturdy and defensive. Pick your favorite. Inquisitor vs Zealot. Again, they are different. I would want to use them both But that may not be possible...so I'm up for a tough choice again. Champions are like dragons with their breath attack, I find them more offensive. On the other hand Paladin has immunity to Frenzy and the ability to save a stack with Lay Hands. Against Dark - I'd go for Pallys. And the Seraph has the amazing Divine Vengeance. Say that Arcane Archers begin the game by shooting your Marksmen. Well after Seraphs turn they also are dead. The alternative is to Resurrect those Marksmen which is equally good. Haven has EASY access to Divine Strength so Seraphs can become the most damaging unit on the battlefield.
I really like Haven alternatives, because they are different but useful. The same cannot be said of all th factions (I am very bitter that Battlemage is no match for Archmage)

Yes he is. the point is that he is better for longer games and factions that don't have high defense. He can actually take advantage of academy's might buffs where the archmage would cast 2-3 spells and remain useless for the rest of the fight.

Okay, there have been times when Archmage hits own units and they are forced to skip their turn. But often it is not because they hit an adjacent stack but some of my troops in the middle of the battlefield. And this problem remains with Battlemage, so they are a likely candidate for skipping turns as well.
What Battlemages do have is the ability to shoot while protected. That is the sole difference these creatures have, their damage is essentially the same. This would have been great pre-TotE but now all factions have either creatures with Breath type attack, Champions, Firehounds, Paokais or in possession of something similar. There are more shooters without range penalties, and so on. Tight formations aren't as good as they used to be.
They also loose Energy Channel ability, which lowers the cost of spells by 25%! Now when MotW can be used with expensive destructive spells like Meteor Shower, it would be more useful than ever.
Okay, I'll take one more example. Pit Lord vs. Pit Spawn. Here a caster becomes a combat unit. Pit Spawns have more of everything, attack defense and HP. But for some reason Battlemage has less HP and less defense. Ugh. I can't understand. I could if Dampen Magic was something very useful. As of now I feel it isn't.
But I'd be happy to hear more if you have arguments on the matter

I must said I love battlemages. They make the academy creatures act more defensive . Since they can use their nasty dmg without hitting there own(when they are close to eachother) Which is great. Since you have gremlins and Titans. Its just like in HoMM3. I used to stay behind. Shoot and when they came near, meet my naga's. The same here, just with rasa something. And Golems. I enjoy them
Pit spawns and pit lords are a weird choice. Spells? Or a guy who can kill 2000 PEasents on 1 hit because they are many and his blade is really nasty. I still take the pit lord, since I dont need a low Tier killer.
