So even on Easy or Normal the AI still does that? I don't mean minor cheats, but stuff like getting tons of free gold and units at a lot lower prices.
How does multiplayer in a turn based strategy work? Is it easy to get into a game whenever you want?

Not always but usually you can find people online. It's pretty enjoyable and you can find many strategies that would be wasted on AI but are crucial vs a human opponent.
About easy and normal I'm not sure but there the AI won't build a mage guild higher than yours and will build every other day. It's on hard that it is challenging but eventually you it will pose little threat when you gain some experience.

So on Hard it cheats? From the manual it says that the AI gets the same starting resources as you do.
Not to sound rude here, but are there any other games that are like this (fantasy TBS) that the AI doesn't cheat?
Is Age of Wonders developed by UBI too?

Not true. Check out Galactic Civilizations.
Edit: And I was not taking about no cheats at all, just not the game breaking cheats like in HOMM5.
Edit2: Are there any AI mods for TOE that removes cheating?

The AI does cheat, only in the campaigns and story-based maps as far as I can tell. Minor things like extra resources and boosts to creature generation. It's not a big deal. The game would be too easy without it, and besides, the amount of cheating is difficulty-dependant. You play on Hard, it's all over the place. Play on Easy and there's almost none.
All the 'cheating' is done through the map scripts, you could remove it all if you really wanted to and had way too much time on your hands. But otherwise you won't even notice so don't bother worrying about it. And in any case multiplayer is what you're looking for if you want to get the most out of the game.

So how does this game work?
There is a campiagn, but is there also a "sandbox" mode like the skirmish in RTS games where you play "multiplayer" matches with the AI?
I can understand how the AI cheats in single player games, does it still cheat in those sandbox modes?
Is it actually true that it's all done in map scripts? I'm talking about the cheats that
"AI cheats badly everywhere But it's necessary seeing how incompetent it is.. I prefered the H3 way where it felt like playing a human and did not see the map or build everything before week 2. It can rush you week 3 with tier 7 upgraded."
Like gamebreaking cheats where the AI just gets wads of cash and free everything.
If it's in the map scripts only, if I download a map from a fansite then it won't cheat no more?
I'm mainly talking about the "free" modes with the AI, not the campiagns or anything. Are there such modes like the skrimish in RTS games where the AI doesn't cheat that badly? Or any way to get them to stop cheating? Like downloading maps without cheat scripts?
I really want to play this game, but I'm probably not going to play multiplayer, so the AI is important.
Thanks.

Nevermind, I see the AI mod now. I'll just use that.
Regarding "duels", how do they work? Because you seem to get "official" configurations, don't those get boring quickly because you can't make up your own army and once you tried them all the game is going to be repetitive?
Can you duel against the AI? Is duel games a campiagn where your hero can gain experience? Or do they start raw each time?

You can duel the AI.
It's a one off.
You can custom make your own duel heroes in the editor but it isn't that great.
There's also some duel maps with more customization.

Ain't that kind of map that is supposed to be of the Tiny form factor from the RMG engine? I do not recall seeing a full fledge Small map with 4 factions/players available onto it being called Tiny.
Here's the way I see the randomization of the maps being generated:
1. Tiny = Small
2. Small = Medium
3. Medium = Normal
4. Normal = Large
5. Large = Extra Large
6. Extra Large = Huge
7. Huge = Humongous
8. Humongous = Impossible
9. Impossible = All Continents of the Entire World of Ashan.
10. The whole map of Ashan does not seem to exist as a full fledge map in Heroes of Might and Magic 5-Tribes of the East. So, that everyone could, one day, illustrate for themselves(in their own minds) the extreme vastness of the world of Ashan.
Tiny map should be a one on one's single(1) main war against each other without bringing outsiders being involved(Neutrals included).

Holla holla people I am glad to see that this forum is still active with sexy boys lol .Kidding (or not)
Anyway...since the realease of Heroes 5 ToE all gameplay of Heroes 5 has changed(not). The new stuff are somewhat a new breeze but not a 100% good addition to the game. So lets see what ToE has in adition or what it hasnt
1.Blood furies and blood maidens still look awfull and like tramps in those no-covering clothes(well I think all 12 years old boys will be able to see the hidden "rabbit")
2.Academy still remains the jack of all trades not excelling in no particular side(neither army neither combat neither heroes)
3.Majority of the bugs had been taken away
4.Sylvans are a very very boring race to play as they were before
5.Dungeon can easy rush any player on the map.
6.If the Sylvans are the most boring, the dwarfs are the most sleepy and tired race from all.Playing with them means you can sleep well and have a good nap until you will conquer something with them
7.Some units are drop dead gorgeous(like arcane archers or angels) while some are completely idiot looking and retarded(gargoiles and those dwarfs units)
8.The new and the most powerfull race(irnoy) the orcs are dumb and dull and neverless one weak faction special at the start.Soooo umpredicteble aint?
9.The new upgrades add some flavour to the game.
etc...the rest in another post.

Hey there
Actually gameplay has changed quite a bit both because of new skills and the alternative upgrades.
More specifically:
2)Academy not excelling?
4)Liking sylvan or not is subjective.
6)If you don't find dwarves interesting it means their gameplay simply does not appeal to you. They are almost as complex as academy.
7)Angels have crappy anime style in my totally biased opinion
8)LOL you have not played orcs much have you?
9)Some do.

I got the game, where can I download additional maps? I find it bad that all large maps don't have an underground level. Too lazy to do two layers of large maps or something.
Edit: How do you duel with the AI?
Edit 2: Is the power rating for neutral units like deadly relative to your strength or no?

So if you don't attack them then they will grow forever into invincible levels?
Secondly, I find the duel lists unbalanced, the necromancers are too overpowered and heaven is underpowered. The necromancers has so much magic, they can kill you in an instant.
