AFAIK, these structures are randomly generated, together with other locations like war academy, refugee camp, hill fort, elemental conflux and so on. Probably based on the map template used? In my XL and huge maps, it is even possible to have 2 Marletto Towers in the same starting player's area.
I think v3.1 random map generation includes more of such locations, but I never saw the Sylanna's Ancients (H5 equivalent of tree of knowledge) for one thing.

a few random complaints about the campaign
I started playing the TotE campaign set, I'm currently at the 3rd map of the necro campaign (the one after the 'campaign' with 1 single map).
1) Knowledge (edit!) is an annoyance on these maps. In the first map, well is rare too. ALL through that map my problem was lack of mana (until I got Lich Masters finally - to do the resurrections).
2) The first map is quite hard on heroic - if you fail to take your first town in time, you're in a very bad position. The player should get some hints of a friendly village existing to the north and the quest you get about the witch is very misleading... I went SE on my first try since I thought I should reach that first (yes I killed lots of manticores with my starting army - but I had losses and by the time I got back to the first red village, I only could take it losing all my army, including those precious vampires).
3) Bonuses are stupid, as usual. I hated them in all heroes versions (without knowledge of the map or at LEAST your starting army(DAMN!), how could you decide). Not only that, but on both maps there is a single bonus that stands out by a lot (not picking vampires on 1st map or gold on the second map puts you into a very screwed up position).
4) There is that one-way portal on the first map (which you spend so much time to open)... I went through with my main and I couldnt get any reinforcements through OR come back. Why the hell can't I be informed of that in advance. Really annoying.
5) The second map starts with you having to fight a battle you dont choose, with a hero you dont know (on my first try I didnt even realize I could cast dark avatar spell...). Having to fight unwanted battles sucks IMO. Interesting tho.
6) Moving my damn hero is MY job. Just because I took the quest hut with a secondary, my main shouldn't be teleported there.
7) A hero that gets WEAKER on levelup?? Come on! (yes, weaker: every levelup makes your summon avatar spell cost more which is a killed with having 10 mana only)

That's just the way campaign was set up, best to keep autosave on to prevent annoyance.
About the Summon Avatar spell - yes, it costs more mana as you level up but did you notice it's stats increase? on higher levels it gets Curse Attack, Sorrow Strike, Incorporeality, Vampirism + some other. Summon Phoenix doesn't even get near that. Use them only in big battles (vs heroes, strong creeps) and watch them decimate entire armies
Cast Arcane Armour if needed and if it dies (oh come on, can it?) you always have MotN

Well I don't have mark of the necromancer and I reached level 15 (yes won the maps) with both heroes without it being offered once...
Yes I know the stats increase, but in the beginning low mana cost would be much more important and later on it's not so useful (because you dont need it anyway) - at least on the 1st map.

howto unlock town limit
Is it possible and if it is how to unlock town count limit on map? I know that RMG built in ToTe make maps with more than 8 towns but if i alert them in any way maps are unplayable - I can't see them in map list when making game. Sp where to dig some data to do it?? I alredy digged data.pak but for now unsuccesful

I'm not sure if it's allowed. A player cannot have more than eight towns in command at the same time, so that's why I think there's a limit of eight towns per map. I'm not entirely sure though.

But i know it is possible. I created a game with rmg - 10 castles on huge map for 8 players and i played a game for few turns. So where it could be hidden? i've searched game mechanics folder in data.pak but i didn't found it. I'm just curious is it bud from rmg?

BBS, you can have as many towns as you want. Don't care about such warnings as well as ones by script editor and other odd messages. This game is flexible
If map isn't visible at game list, it means it's unsupported. However, usually it can be open with the editor so you may fix and save it. There are many possible issues to check, but for sure number of towns is not one of them.

I bet you created them as single scenario When you create a map that you intend for multiplayer you should create them as multiplayer arena.

To change an existing singleplayer map to a multiplayer one open the map file (.h5m) with any .zip editor (WinZip, WinRar, etc) and enter the Maps folder inside. Then rename the "SingleMissions" folder to "Multiplayer"

Hi all,
First att all, my englz is pretty poor, i hope that you understand.
I play custom maps (TOE) and i have problem with battles against comp. When battle begin, enemy will surrender immeaditly, even they have MUCH more, like twice times bigger army.
Anyone have same problem?
