The three fundamental principles of pillar theory:
1. Be sure the two of you know each other.
2. It's better to be alone than in a relationship for which you have to bend over backwards or compromise your principles.
3. Don't worry about "getting girls/guys".
This way, it'll probably take you a while to get into a relationship, but once you do, it'll be very good and successful.

Then the girl is flawed.

I don't want to make her unhappy...
And she's really nice and she's perfect, but she's got these cutesy little flaws you see.
In fact, I love playing at her flaws and...
Yeah, I should pobably have healthy (not necessarily romantic ones) relationships at some point, but they bore me.

Sorry, I got carried away in mushy feelings.
What do you mean with flawed?

She gets into relationships that are quite obviously going to be failures.

Irrelevant to a certain degree. Maybe the characer considers them jerks, simply because they date her.

The criticism of the strip is that relationships that 'grow smoothly out of friendships' maybe very disappointing towards one side.
I wouldn't want to be succesful in applied pillar theory and then see a wistful gaze

Then she's flawed because of the "wistful gaze". And it's not that hard to tell when a relationship is going to fail (if you look at it from my POV). If she can't see - then, again, she is too flawed.

I don't even know why I'm arguing about this. Probably because I'm engaging from a point of view that is too personal. Oh, well, loneliness is easy once you get used to it, like really easy. I don't think the approach of 'too flawed' is one I like, perhaps I would've been much more content with the phrase incompatible.

Wordings, wordings...
I hate romance.

Alright I think I got another reason for disliking that stupid pillar theory ****. I'm a romantic person, very romantic, and believe that love just happens and when it does then I'll embrace it. I don't think about it in a "theory" or "pillar theory" kind of way, I just let it happen. So when I actually do hear someone making a theory about love and all that and thinking about it in the way you do, Mvass, it's just annoying and I disagree with it.

Man you just insulted all psychologists that deal with love as their subject.

I find careless love annoying, for the record. Not love itself but the drama around it. That's annoying.

@ TheDeath
Oh ****, I'll get some tissues then if that'll help? lol

I don't mind if people like that do it because that's their job, but it's more people like Mvass, who don't do that as a job and still do this kind of thinking that annoy me. If that makes sense. You should have understood that anyway, even though my post wasn't directed to you in any way at all.

@Mvass

Lol, forgive me, I'm not with it at all this morning. Hayfever's really screwing me up.

I'm slowly making sense of this "pillar theory", so it's not as wacky as I once thought.  It makes sense.  However, I think it isn't catching on well because a "theory" sounds too academic or intellectual for the earthy topic of romance and relationships.  More importantly, most guys learn the lessons addressed by this pillar theory the usual way: entering relationships, getting hurt in the end, etc.  I'm not saying the pillar theory is devoid of relevance, because that's not true.  However, I think it's not universally accessible.

Sure, we'd save ourselves a lot of trouble if we just trusted the theory before getting our feet wet.  But the reality is, most of us need to learn the hard way.  Most of us are driven by emotions, the need for love, and the sooner the better.  The notion of having to wait a long time for that perfect relationship is very hard to accept, because we're simply that hormonal.  Yes, it's stupid to rush into relationships that probably won't work, but I seriously doubt most guys could put their faith in the pillar theory from the get-go without some sobering experiences to personally drive the point home to them.

Depends... the meanings of the word romantic are diverse and have been wisted many times.
In a way nearly everyone can be romantic. I explained it once, though, with my graphs

Though, realist love (I accept you, you accept me) is a bit uncommon and that's why most relationships fail and why I support mvass' theory. Tsss, we're all still playing with gravel on the side of the road we call life, though, so it hardly matters.

Yeah, that seems to be the case. Oh, well. I guess they'll learn the hard way!

Actually, they won't - most of them never learn. And even if they do somehow succeed, they usually won't know why.

The biggest problem with relationships is when you can't find what you long for in any person. It's a different kind of loneliness, actually... you have girls, even girlfriends if you take the effort. But it feels empty.

And since I've already met a girl I dreamed of and it was a failure... there is nothing more to wait for @_o

I know the feeing, man.

Though, admittedly I wouldn't exactly call her a dream girl.

Life is so paradoxical sometimes. If women weren't so soft and smelled so nice, I'd probably have gone with men. Less paradoxical, you see.

Welcome to the "wish I was gay" club

No, I met an absolute perfection. I'm not joking. A perfection that was on a brink of a suicide, crying for a stupid kiddo who dumped her, talking about him constantly. It broke my snowing heart. I didn't even know I had one. Other than that... she was perfect. She really was. Looks, intelligence, wit, interests, and many many more. The type of girl who can be really cute and also sarcastic at the same time. A diamond.

Now I'm even more bitter than I was. Who would have thought... -_-
