the boss who thinks he is Sparda in DMC3 makes no sense. when I'm alone against him, I own him, and then, when Virgil comes to help me, I get owned...

Now that you mentioned it, thoso robots do resemble silicon lifeforms from blame. If they add Killy's signature pistol i might like it  . Now srsly. I think we have the same thing as with DMC 2 but on a bigger scale. People have already identyfied themselves with the characters(Dante and Nero) and have a set view on them. Now the developers want us to throw all that into oblivion and mix with what they think is fun. Dante from DMC 2 was only resembling Dante from the original DMC, and had a completely different character. So despite many similiarities between DMC and DMC 2 like weapons , the devil trigger transformations the game was not considered canon by many fans. However in the case of DMC 5 , so far there are only two things connecting it to the rest of the francise(name of the main character and title of the game). That is practically nothing! If the developers really want to continue with what we saw in the trailer without ANY connection to any previous games then I think they should change at leas the title of the game. I personally find it very annoying that even knowing that a great deal of fans want to have some more backstory for Nero or Devil Bringer (Nero's right arm), some info with what happened to Vergil are being completly ignored. So like i said , if they want to do it like they showed us, at least dont call it DMC!!

Actually, should they change the name, then it would loose all the money it would get form the franchise, resulting in maybe there not being a next follower. And, if they would change the name, then it would be shoved away as a simple "devil may cry clone" and would barely sell at all.
It might be that the story is about Dante from before he got his white hair, ergo, in his teenage years, cause, if I get it right, then the first DMC is about Dante in his 20s? I'd say that if they atleast tell us something about the story of the old games then it would be good.

Have you played DMC 3? Dante was about 18 in it. He had his white hair even before his devil power activated. Even the subtitle says "Dante's Awakening" . I think this dismisses the idea of a backstory for Dante.
I can only think of two explanations for having such different Dante.
-Parrel universe- We're abandoning everything from previous installments of the series and creating something completly new. Prince of Persia did so
-Accepting DMC 2 into the cannon story. Then games timeline would be set like this DMC3-DMC-DMC4-DMC2 and finally DMC5 would be presenting what had happened after Dante enterd Hell at the end of DMC 2.
There could be variations and mixups of these two theories but Im too lazy to present them. Personally i hope that the fans response to the trailer will force the developers to continue the story from the point where DMC4 ended

Far as I know he's always had the white hair. Dante and Vergil's father, Sparda, also had white hair.
Sparda in all his coolness.
I still bet on the brainwash theory. This twilight-wannabe is being brainwashed into believing he is the real Dante.
The city and technology seen in the vid makes me think that this is a future version of the original series universe. Wannabe Dante's guns look exactly like Dante's, 'cept that they do purple flashes when fired (either it's supa-dupa technology or they're powered by Demonic energy)
So basically... maybe:
Future world of DMC: World is in crisis, demons appearing everywhere and the Sons of Sparda are long gone.
Evil government makes experiments on young convicts to turn them into Demon hybrids.
The most talented of all these convicts; "Twilight-Sissy", is brainwashed into believing he is the Son of Sparda (as they believe that Dante was the ultimate demon-slayer, and that Twilight-Sissy must mimic him in every way to achieve maximum powa)
I'd bet on something like that.
Fun fact though... in the canon DMC novels Dante absolutely hates smoking 
Dante likes Pizza, Strawberry Sundaes and kicking ass.

For all of you wanting some more info on dmc i foun a throughout alnalysis of the trailer Here. Apparently the new dante heavily resembels the developer and this installment is supposed to be a reboot of the series. im still waiting for any information confirming that we are being trolled .

Dunno how many of you have seen this, but. Wikipedia says that capcom have stated in an interview that this Dante is the original Dante from before the events of DMC 3.

Aren't any sources on that particular statement so I'm gonna hold my breath for now...
From what I've read Capcom has distanced themselves from this "DMC" because of the fanrage, and said that it will not affect the storyline of the earlier games.

So basically, this is younger than 18 years Dante that is in some kinda puberty phase where he'll learn to cope with his demonic heritage?
Dante doesn't accept his demon heritage! HE NEVER HAS! In DMC3 (which is a sequel time-wise) he completely rejects the fact that he even had a father!
That's the primal difference between Dante and Vergil! One hates his demonic heritage, one embraces it because of its potential power!
If this is before the third game then that means Vergil is still in the human realm as well... or maybe they'll ignore that? (Vergil with black hair... oh god.)
Even if he had the white hair he DOESN'T LOOK like Dante, it's unacceptable. Dante and Vergil had white hair from birth, I decided that now, **** you Ninja Theory.
God just... I know we don't know that much yet but this is just sounding too ****ed up.
I hope Capcom just makes a decision to ignore this game later. Like DMC2...

Ignoring too many games storywise just dilutes the entire series into nothing. You don't know what's going to be ignored or rebooted next, so you don't bother getting compelled.
I would happily accept this game as "true DmC" if it ticks any of the following boxes:
- It turns out to be a good game
- "Dante" is not Dante
- "Dante" is Dante, after winding up in Limbo at the end of DMC2
Otherwise it can go to hell, pun not intended.
Hard to judge a game based on one trailer, but at the moment it really seems like the project is just one dynamic anger management channel for Ninja Theory, to relieve the lingering angst brought on by the failure of Heavenly Sword.
EDIT: This says it's "an origin story", which Wikipedia interprets to mean "before DMC3", though that could be totally incorrect. Batman Begins acted as both an origin story and a reboot.

Well, I decide herefore that the "Dante" in the new DMc shall be renamed Rolf, and will be a teenage fanboy punk who decided to imitate his idol, he will also be killed by Dante in the end, or preferably the beginning.
