Why is gender such an important role in choosing a games character? Personally I'm not fussed. If you ever play any of the Soul Calibur games you'll notice some of the better fighters are female.

If I can I almost by 80% chance play female
and I will tell you why - Women have always been seen as the weaker gender and when you play a woman character and become powerful, you feel even more powerful because you essential see them as weaker.. That is why.
It is a little harsh but that is why I do it..

Hmm I beg to differ. Carry a child inside you for 9 months, birth it..and THEN you can say males are stronger . You might be able to lift more weights but that has nothing to do with 'strength'

Generally men are physically stronger because they produce testosterone which women don't.
And we can argue about what is strenght; I see strength as one's capability to attain power and when we take into consideration that all high positions are male-dominated we could say that men are stronger.
No sexism, just science.

How the heck did this turn from what gender do you like to play in videogames to who's stronger: females or males?
As for my answer on the matter, I usually play Males because I usually like to make a character based from myself.

Its only because we are in the remains of a society where males always was in power, and it will likely take a while before the sterotypes is dead. And while we are on sterotypes, power is beyond simple. If you got a society where the male sterotype trains and the female sterotype does diets we are already on the wrong track to discuss this.
If we got a society where males are dominant only because of sterotypes of roots of earlyer ages we are also on the wrong track.
Besides while we are on the topic of power, is it power to be able to survive? Because women have a higher survival rate than men. The infant death rate is a pretty good example, and today we got powerfull medicines and tech to even it out and its still not even are it

Males are usually more power-hungry. So yes, it's not a stereotype (of course it's generalizing). Who said that makes them "better" anyway? (whatever that means) 
Of course, since this forum is mostly populated with guys (and Ash doesn't count since she's very pro-violence or pro-fighting ) they will say that power is all that matters.
