Lol.
I hate server maintances.
Every wednesday in WoW the server are down from 6.00 to 11.00
Of course im in school then but sometimes when I get home it says...
"There has been an extended maintance from 15:00-20:00 to apply new patch files. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
I dont have patience and understanding but meh, I got other things in life then WoW so its not to bad (except if I there is some guild event).

Quote: Its good that HC gets into MMOs.
It's one of the worst things it could have happened. Thank God I stayed clear of it. Not that I would become addicted (I think most RPGs are the same ol' looting and levelling crap boring as hell because they don't add anything new, more tactical to the "goal"). But seriously, MMOs make it 100x times worse.

What's so bad about MMOs? At least you get to chat and interact with real people and friends from your guild instead of cursing or feeling affection at some virtual characters like in single player games. (I mean, being sad if some NPC dies, etc)

No you don't get it, it's a routine job, literally. It's like a drug. This isn't the case with any other game, even if you play online, unless of course you're in some kind of a tournament. In short, you don't "play" MMOs for fun, you "work" (obviously without any salary... unless you sell off your character -- which proves how ridiculous this can get ).
Also Death is Cheap in MMOs. All charm is gone.

How is it different than the routine "going on the Net, surfing, chatting in MSN, etc" stuff? If you have fun, what's the problem? When you get annoyed and play only to grind then I agree, but if you actually have FUN, and not just fun like in single player games, but with other REAL people as well (from your guild preferably), then there's nothing bad about it.
Addiction is something bad, I agree, and if you can't sleep because you have to play 24/7 then that's of course extremely unhealthy and to be avoided. However, this doesn't happen only to MMOs (Counter-strike anyone?), although MMOs for some reason tend to be more addictive than other games.

Yeah true, but you can also do that in real life and also forums, chat programs etc etc. lol
And as much as I hate to say this (lol ) I actually agree with TheDeath here.

Wait, who said that people have FUN arguing in forums or whatever?

I don't buy it. Seriously. 80% of the time you do not have fun -- it's only the thrill of wanting to be better (by levelling, getting better gear, whatever) that you even DO these things. If you were to DO 80% of the things you do in a MMO, without any kind of "effect" on tomorrow, many people wouldn't do it, and only THEN realize how boring and wasteful it is.
To put this in an analogy: it's like playing Starcraft occassionally with your friends for "fun", and playing in a tournament where you have to practice like hell, get frustrated, etc... cause you want to WIN, not to have FUN. Similar here, only that WIN = IMPROVE your character...

Speak for yourself And did you actually consider that the 'thrill' you speak of is the fun part in itself?
You don't like MMOs, they are not fun to you, I understand, but don't speak in the name of everyone.
And William, what's with forums and such? I never said MMOs are better than those, but we were talking about singleplayer games. To put it simply, those that say MMOs = no life, are very wrong. Who has 'less life' here? Those that play MMOs several hours a day (I'm not talking about the 'obsessed' ones obviously) and chat/interact with other real people, or those geeks that stay only in their house, watch movies and play singleplayer games all day long, without any social interaction whatsoever? Just think about it.

The hate against MMOs on this site is overrated too!
Atleast Asheera here managed to be the MMOs tendril of corruption and converted many people here into the Church of the MMOcraft.
But MMOs are addicting because you have a goal and you always want to achieve something.
An example is the World of Warcraft raiding guild I am in. Ironiclly, its called Flame of Anor even though I have clearly stated how overrated I think LOTR is.
Yes, its a horrible name and I would more like to have a guild called "Eclipson" or something like that.
Anyway, this isnt about my guilds name.
So in a raiding guild you can have a lot of fun. People are crazy at ventrilo and sing Britney Spears and everything.
It isnt a big deal if your group dies once or twice aslong as your having fun and progress.
At the same time it is a little bit addicting because when you raid you will often have to sit there untill it ends, depending on if your playing an healer or damage per second class.
An DPS would be easier to replace then a healer so it is often okey if I tell them "I have to go at 22:00 tonight, is it okey with you?".
But its still fun to see your guild progress through the raid dungeons. To see how we take more and more bosses on the same evening each raid.
The happy screams when we killed the great frost wyrm Sapphiron (who guards Kel'thuzad) was great. We killed him in three tries - yes, WoW is so easy right now. But its good. Now everybody can have good gear and raid.
And of course its always fun to get a new fancy weapon or armor, but in most raiding guilds there are lots of rules such as Dragon Kill Points which my guild uses.
It prevents you from becomming a loot snow and gives other people a chance to get new equipment too.
I do have to sacrifice 1-2 evenings a week in my life - but its my own choice.
So I do have fun but you are right, it is addicting. But not so addiciting that I skip school etc.
I do admit that im not the most social guy in the world - but I have never been that. I was always different... and I was not good.
I was perfect.

Tonight one of the guild members left, just because some other was making fun of his name, obviously joking. He tried to apologize thereafter and I also tried to get the one who left back, but he didn't want anymore. Look what a stupid joke can lead to. And then you wonder why I am so serious at times? Heck, seriousness never insults anyone, and never causes drama. I think I'll be even more serious after this.
I had to post this because of the whole "I'm too serious" stuff recently. It's such a weird coincidence if you ask me.

Aculias loves it. And frankly I agree. Arguing is more fun than sitting back and agreeing with everyone all day.
Think about it....
Aculias: I think Boston Celtics aren't gonna make the playoffs.
RSF: You are a moronic loser that knows nothing of basketball.
Aculias: ***** please! Those losers got nothin.
Now think about this...
Aculias: I think the Boston Celtics aren't gonna make the playoffs.
RSF: I wholeheartedly disagree. They are a great team. But you are entitled to your opinion.
Aculias: ...you are boring as hell Sox...
I'm downloading the game now for ****s and giggles. It's been like 10 min and I'm at 10%.

Yeah took a few hours to download. Also you're lucky since it was released, I had to patch a million times because of the BETA patches (which were a lot), and took 1.5 hours or so on top of the download

You wouldn't play very well with so much impatience anyway
And yes this game is very hard, in instances I mean. There is even an ant Queen boss that has never been done on the server I am on, even with a raid of 36 max level players.

Yes that's some new mini-game
I have to say for a free to play game, this sure gets a lot of content added since release. Even a new zone will be added soon (Ravenfell) not to mention some extra dungeons, and elite skills for level 35.
Oh and I love this dual-class system. The only part I hate is that you have to level them up separately, but in the end it's a nice feature which creates many different strategies. The elite skills (based on every class/sub-class combination) are also a nice addition.
And the most interesting things to do when having level 50 is to improve your gear with the Arcane Transmutor, Mana Stones and runes, which I'm sure WoW doesn't have (this is for those that said it's too similar to WoW)
On a different note:
I had my Rage earring to +5 and used 20 more jewels and it got downgraded to +3. I hate those things, I swear I will never be greedy to get to the max of +6 ever again.
